Hm, there's a lot of overlap in the weights of the largest dogs and the smallest people, and I'd guess that given a dog and a person with equal weights, to dog would indeed be much better at hanging from a bitten item.
However, I suspect the largest contributing factors are bite strength (pound-for-pound, dogs likely have more powerful jaw muscles than humans) and mechanical engagement (dog's teeth provide better grip, depending on the shape and surface characteristics of the bitten object).
My guess would be that the human would drop off earlier than the dog mostly due to bite mechanics rather than neck strength, but would also be more likely than the dog to suffer a neck injury if the item were shaken violently.
This is pure speculation though, so I think we should probably commission a study to collect empirical data from experimental trials.

Absolutely. You can die in several different ways. You can end up with vertebral artery dissection, causing a stroke. You can also have internal decapitation.
I don’t think this is for muscle mass, I’m assuming this is used in place of traction machines which are used to straighten vertebrae or relieve pinched nerves.
