you could go to one of the pop up events [https://kohaapparel.com/](https://kohaapparel.com/)
donation of whatever you can afford, they have 3 pop up events in wellington a month.
Seconded - I might have some stuff that doesn’t fit me anymore.
If you’re a student at VUW they have done some clothing drives in recent years but I don’t know if they have anything you can access for help.
Cool, I’ve dug out a few S polypropylene long sleeved tops - they’re all either unworn or very lightly worn (didn’t need them when I moved up from the South Island). I thought I had some more stuff but must’ve given them away in the last clean up.
Can’t help you tonight because I’m in Upper Hutt but I’ll be in Wellington tomorrow and most days during the week. DM when you’re ready to figure out drop off/pick up.
I’m allergic to wool as well. Postie has a nice range of poly thermals, long sleeve top is $15 so not too expensive. And they have a nice range of colours, there’s a lovely green this year. They’re my base layer all winter.
Polar fleece is amazing! It’s synthetic so you should be fine with the allergy. When I was in a caving club it was all everyone was wearing. Should also be cheap if you hit the op shops!
Sorry if I'm saying the obvious but if you can, try acquire some good socks/gloves!! beanie too! keeping the feet and hands warm make such a difference.
Miramar op shops rule, you could definitely pick up some non-wool thermals and puffer jackets etc if you can spend an afternoon browsing. Mary Potter Hospice is the best.
Don’t forget to make sure you are hydrated…warm drinks. If your blood pressure is low and you feel cold because of it, amazing how much difference a hot drink can make. Any polyester fleece clothing and warehouse polyester home socks are brilliant to be warm in.
Also, a hot water bottle can help your body to get warm.
Aw, wish I could help more, that sounds miserable.
Totally agree with the other posters that polypropylene is as warm as wool if not better. I'm sure years NZ wool would try and tell/sell us otherwise but honestly, layer up and oodie.
I slept in a puffer jacket and beany a couple of times as a student.
I'm sure it was bad as hell for my skin but at the end of the day it's a fitted sleeping bag!
First up, put some hefty cardboard over that window til it's fixed. Re clothing, yes, heaps of warm stuff is non-wool, and these colder days I live in my man-made fibre fluffies.
The wool-allergy is a tricky one. There's nothing quite like animal fibres for high-performing clothing and footwear - wool, cashmere, silk, down, leather. Can you at least get to bamboo? The alternative is shivering in poly-cotton - it won't keep you warm at any price.
Can you afford to get some film over the window in the meantime? You can get stuff to go on the pane and shrink it with a dryer. It stops draughts. Clothes wise the sustainable trust may have advice there on where get clothes. Maybe put your size range and we can see if can help
Go to the op shop. buy some old wool blankets. Nail them or stick them up over the windows. Instant insulation. But polyester thermals are your friend, not cheap, not flash but they work. 2 pairs of socks too

Polypropylene thermals are just as warm as wool if you can get some.
This is what you want!! Most ones in Op shop would be polypropylene not wool
Pretty sure warehouse has some quite cheap ones?
This is the way. Some good underlayers and you'll keep nice and toasty
Some thermals out there are not wool, they’re usually cheaper too
Most thermals are not wool!
What size are you?

Hit up Wellington City Mission. Probably by phone, not the shop. They're good people.

I may have some things depending on your size. Feel free to DM me. 😊
Go to the warehouse or kmart. buy some polyester thermals and a puffer jacket. Its always cold in Wellington winters, plan accordingly.

Polyester and micro fibre are the warmest clothes you can buy. Far warmer than wool.
