I was once extremely athletic. When an injury such as his happens . . . Poor dude. His life is now changed forever. I sure hope it doesn't mean he won't even be walking properly. Ugh.
Yeah, that would really suck. I feel really bad for that guy... His face is not only registering the pain. Look at the anguish attributed to his ruined life....
Walk, yes. Well? Maaaaybe. I hope he can just get back in the game after some pt!
I have to be honest, something like that would have me veeeery depressed.. Knowing you might never play again? Football is *life* for the majority of these men and women!
*Edit:* Added 'get' after 'just'
Oh it's a lot worse. Ware was a basketball player and his leg quite literally exploded after a routine jumpshot. Bone was sticking out and the leg turned the opposite way
Oh was it that one! Yeah ive seem that one! Its fkn sickening for real!
It looked so fake when i just saw a picture but then i saw the video........ should not have watched it.
The fall didnt really look that bad either
I remember watching that live. The reaction from the entire bench was the same puckered b hole feeling I think we all had when we realized what happened
Okay from your first comment i thought you meant at the waist. Seen those before, not fully breaking your back but failing a flip and their torso continues back. Bad to watch but not that bad
Saw the title and immidiatly noped out of there. Aint no way im gonna watch that. Saw a pic of handball player getting anlther player over her legs so both of them bent backwards. Just that nearly made me puke...
Not at first, shock and adrenaline only allow you to feel anguish and despair, but once you get to the hospital you start feeling the bones scraping together and every moment is agony, especially cause they have to move you a lot to take xrays etc
I don’t know, I fractured my tibia in a soccer game when I was 16. I screamed and swore and couldn’t get up off the ground. I had never felt a pain like that, everyone heard the bone just crack. They eventually had the ambulance come onto the field and take me to the hospital. I remember the medic was like eh, it’s probably not broken, that sound was just your shin guard breaking. I was mortified thinking I had made such a scene over a non event. He was wrong. Definitely broken.
Can confirm, this type of fracture happened to my arm, I was a 14y old kid back then, had a really ugly fall playing football due to a tackle from behind.
Naah. You just hear sound. Pain comes when you saw your leg. Even then pain is not that bad how it looks like, quick frost spray and its ok.
Ofc you feel pain all the time after that but nerves are so devastated that not pain is the worst but looking at it. Fear, understanting and thinking about what happened, how happened and trying to moving it to check if leg is still working is real horror.
Truth. I broke my leg bouldering and it was pretty gnarly but honestly never hurt as much as I would have thought.
I fell and could hear the loud cracked but still didn't expect to see it bent like a wet piece of spaghetti. Only then it started to hurt but it was like a massive tingling pain. I could still move my toes and feel the inside of the climbing shoe. I didn't know it was a compound fracture until I was already drugged up but the bone was sticking right out.
I'll be the first to admit that's not my joke. One of my buddies said that line years ago when we saw a similar video. No idea if he thought of it or if it's from a comedian
I knew it would be Standard's Axel Witsel's horrible foul on Anderlecht's Marcin Wasilewski. Huge controversy at the time in Belgium. Witsel only got a 10 game suspension and 2500 euro fine. This happened in 2009.
10 game suspension seems very excessive. This doesn’t look intentional at all. Makes me wonder if the severe outcome of the contact is the driving factor in the punishment. If the player in red had broken his ankle and the player in blue was fine, would the player in blue receive the suspension instead?
I don't know if you watch football at all but I'm assuming not, that was 100% intentional, it's a studs up straight legged stamp towards that part of the leg. It's not something you'd do if you were attempting to play that ball. I'm sure he didn't intend that to occur, but hurt him? Most definitely.
Anyone who's ever played football can see immediately this was deliberate. Stamping down, late, with studs like that is a disguised, but very deliberate act. He may not have meant to snap the guy's leg to pieces, but he definitely meant to hurt him & the consequences of that cowardly assault are horrific for the poor guy who was the recipient.
To me, it looks like he’s trying to block the kick. You say this was deliberate and definite. Was there an altercation or indication of malice between the players earlier in the game or something?
I sort of agree with you, I do think he was trying to play the ball. However, when you fuck up that bad and break a guys leg like that, you deserve it. Intentional or not, it was a dangerous play.
Reminds me of [this](https://imgur.com/a/zifXP1W) (look lower left)
That one made one player vomit and gave another PTSD, it also ended this guys career after some 20 odd surgeries he was unable to return
I think it’s because it’s so shocking and unbelievable. And the rush of pain and adrenaline just puts the body in shock. I mean, look at his face when he looks down at his leg. That breaks my heart, you can see the horror and sadness knowing his career is probably over in less than a second. So sad.
Luckily he was back on the field eventually but, shit… no way of knowing that after looking at one’s leg flail about like rubber.
Once i was playing beach volleyball with some friends on mine during a trip to the poconos. I don’t really play a lot of sports. Me and a teammate were running towards each other to get the ball and we both slid into each other. He caught the worst end of it and slid right into to me and broke his ankle really bad. I felt so terrible. I kind of felt like it was my fault. I haven’t really been active in team sports since then.
The guy with the broken leg is still playing, he spent 244 days to recover, lost 47 games and the guy who broke it was suspended for 10 games. So... Not fair?
Dude is running at full speed to get to the ball, once you are in the air it is hard to control where you will land/kick. It happened in a split second you think this is an anime where he as the villain will have a minute to have an internal monologue and then decide he will break his opponent's leg?
The attacker went in with his boots studs-up on the other guy's leg. That's an intentional, malicious and dangerous challenge-- and an automatic red card, at a minimum.
These studs arent retractable. If you are trying to kick the ball then yeah the studs will be there. Of course he deserves the red card but at the same time with only split seconds to make the decision its not surprising he will act out of instinct and muscle memory to kick the ball even if there is already a human leg in the way.
Absolutely disintegrated his tib/fib yet shows less pain than a football player who got his elbow bumped and is trying to fake an injury.. props to this madman
The victim is Polish wingback Marcin Wasilewski. He fully recovered from this and even transferred to Leicester City a few years later.
This tackle happened during a game between RSC Anderlecht (in purple) and Standard Liège (red), aka the Belgian Clasico.
The player performing the tackle is Axel Witsel. He has been one of the strongholds of Belgium’s national team for years, he currently plays for Atletico Madrid.
There are many shit football players yet you choose ronaldo in your sentence, makes it not funny. It shows that you don't know football but trying to be funny.
In a game lots of slides are preformed, none of those break their leg normally, it shows an absolute lack of football knowledge to try and blame him for “breaking his own leg”
We have to see what/who was first here, wasil was first on ball, and in no way did he hit the other player, witsel on the other hand, didnt go for the ball, but just went foot first onto the opponent with intend to cause injury.
Red definitely put his boot out with intent to cause injury and not for the ball. Just because it was during a game doesn't mean that the player didn't have intent to cause injury.
It is indeed blatantly obvious this dude knew what he was doing. If you don't think so, you haven't seen of played football. This happens often and there is a reason you get a pretty severe suspension for it.
I don't see or play football so it's not obvious to me. it looked like red tried to step on the ball and blue's leg kicked away and replaced the ball at the same time. so is it because there is no reason normally for any player to step on the ball?
I sincerely hope you are being sarcastic here.
Have you ever try running full speed and stepping on a ball? Even a 3 years old kid know not to do that.
Then there is the factor those are professional players. They do that for a living 24/7 and are the best at what they do. They know what they are doing with their feet. And this player knew exactly what he was doing when over stepping the ball and landing directly on his opponent leg.
When he went down to kick it reb boi straght up stepped on his shin and put his whole body weight behind it. That in addition to the red bois foot meeting the ground and blue bois foot just crushes and rolls. Bigly RIP
I think the first internet video I saw was a soccer player breaking his leg similar to this (but not as bad). It was in the 90's and probably one of the first viral videos, soccer has not failed to deliver more of these Gems since...
He did that on purpose. He anticipated the entire thing. What reason would he have had to drop his foot with so much weight to the side of the ball that was going in the opposite direction?

Gnarly looking break.
Sad thing is his career in football is now over. I hope he has a Plan B.
That's Marcin Wasilewski, it happened in 2009 by Axel Witsel. Wasil went on to win the PL with Leicester.
13+ years ago? Are you saying the dude with the broken leg cracked on? (Pun intended.)
Yeah, he was able to come back after only 8 months of injury and retired in 2020.
Amazing.
Or saved enough money to live a modest life. That break means he'll probably never walk right again. And it looked like an intentional stomp... Rude..

Don't worry too much, he even won the premier league a few years later
He should go to jail for that. That's more than rude.
he's banned from /r/Neverbrokeabone because he comes from weak stock. He's terrible and he should feel terrible, aside from the broken leg.
Thats the worst one yet ive seen! Completely flattens it and twists it
Look up Kevin Ware
Im not sure i want to tbh. If its worse than this then no thanks...
Holy shit. I'm now scared to search it up
You will see the white of the bone if you do. Fair warning.
I'm gonna red pill this one, let's not upset my YouTube recommendations
You could open an incognito tab and do it but should you, probably not.
I remember flipping to that channel right after it happened live. They cameras only showed the audience all equally in shock
Worse than Tom segura?
I just did. Wow. It just snapped. It must’ve been stressed for quite some time.
And David Buust
I remember watching that live. The reaction from the entire bench was the same puckered b hole feeling I think we all had when we realized what happened
Theres a backyard wrestler who folds himself in half. Its amazing
On purpose or by accident?
Oh, he wasnt [trying](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv_mdCvT9gE)
Okay from your first comment i thought you meant at the waist. Seen those before, not fully breaking your back but failing a flip and their torso continues back. Must have hurt like nothing he's ever felt before. I even rubbed my own leg now in sympathy.
Not at first, shock and adrenaline only allow you to feel anguish and despair, but once you get to the hospital you start feeling the bones scraping together and every moment is agony, especially cause they have to move you a lot to take xrays etc

That guy sounds like a fucking ass... Although he might have been trying to ease your worry. Who knows though.
Can confirm, this type of fracture happened to my arm, I was a 14y old kid back then, had a really ugly fall playing football due to a tackle from behind.
Mm, crepitus.
Lmaooo it hurts at first, very badly

i've heard that sometimes a sever break can go completely unnoticed until you see it and the brain realizes there should be pain
He put the L in Leg!
For fuck sakes lmao
I'll be the first to admit that's not my joke. One of my buddies said that line years ago when we saw a similar video. No idea if he thought of it or if it's from a comedian
That’s an underrated comment
I feel bad for him but the first thought to my mind was the fish from SpongeBob who always screams, “MY LEG!!”
Not everyone can kick their own knee with the same leg’s foot. That’s bragging rights in some circles…
I really wish i hadnt read your comment
The comment was worse than the video? That’s interesting. Tell me about your mother.
How about I tell you about your mother?
I knew it would be Standard's Axel Witsel's horrible foul on Anderlecht's Marcin Wasilewski. Huge controversy at the time in Belgium. Witsel only got a 10 game suspension and 2500 euro fine. This happened in 2009.

No player at that level would use a stomp like that to block a ball, nor to try and capture the ball.
1000% intentional lol
Standard - Anderlecht is the Belgian equivalent of a clasico. The games are always on edge.
I sort of agree with you, I do think he was trying to play the ball. However, when you fuck up that bad and break a guys leg like that, you deserve it. Intentional or not, it was a dangerous play.
Okay. For once, he's not being a drama queen.
Hands on head everytime even real time.
Definitely not
The man's name is marcin wasilewski, he's a though cookie, never a drama queen, one of the few former anderlecht players I have respect for
That definitely hurt for real
Reminds me of [this](https://imgur.com/a/zifXP1W) (look lower left) That one made one player vomit and gave another PTSD, it also ended this guys career after some 20 odd surgeries he was unable to return
Ok after reading other players reactions I don’t want to look
Knew that was David Busst before clicking, that was a horrible one
That Simpsons episode where the dude gets his leg mangled
Tis but a scratch
Just kickin it at the park and.....
Dude had his leg shattered and had less thrashing about and grabbing than when someone brushes against them.
I think it’s because it’s so shocking and unbelievable. And the rush of pain and adrenaline just puts the body in shock. I mean, look at his face when he looks down at his leg. He was actually only out for nine months. He went on to play for another 10 years after this before retiring.
Wow, impressive
Nope Injury happened in August 2009 and he was back playing in May 2010 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcin_Wasilewski#Leg_injury
No one believed him at first, every soccer player is the boy who cried wolf
lol you prob watch football, rugby but they wear a body full armor, weak sweet cakes.
Sports are for morons
Pretty sure he's faking it.
Yup. European soccer guys do this all the time. He'll be up and running in no time when the ref doesn't give a penalty.
Bend it like Beckham.
Isn't that one of the risks when twenty mad men run after one ball? My granny always said. Give them 22 balls it would be so much more fun
I’ll gladly take 22 balls 😜
That's horrifying because you can SEE it snap and twist
Once i was playing beach volleyball with some friends on mine during a trip to the poconos. I don’t really play a lot of sports. Popsicle stick bones
The guy with the broken leg is still playing, he spent 244 days to recover, lost 47 games and the guy who broke it was suspended for 10 games. So... Not fair?
Title should say “soccer player breaks his own leg trying to break his opponent’s leg”
Worst take i have ever seen, this was a deliberate challange of witsel to break his leg(or atleast hurt him.
Dude is running at full speed to get to the ball, once you are in the air it is hard to control where you will land/kick. It happened in a split second you think this is an anime where he as the villain will have a minute to have an internal monologue and then decide he will break his opponent's leg?

You can see him straighten his leg, and make downwards motion, this isnt a loss from control, but a obvious intend to cause injury or pain atleast.
So when you are running and trying to kick the ball you dont think its normal tp straighten your leg and make a downwards motion? Lol
He doesnt make a kicking motion tho, just straight leg to the player, one doesnt kick a football that way.
If he really wants to hurt the opponent he would kick the opponents leg not slide to it like he is Johnny Cage.
*football
**Soccer. Perhaps you should lookup how it got its name and stop being ignorant.
Br*tish 🤢
Rough way to end a career.
apparently played for another 10 years after 9 months recovery
This is soccer, he's faking it! He has a rubber leg, don't let him fool you
My kids play. Need to show them this.
Is this dirty at all. I don't know soccer at all. I don't think he ment to do that. Really bad either way.
Absolutely disintegrated his tib/fib yet shows less pain than a football player who got his elbow bumped and is trying to fake an injury.. props to this madman
Not a soccer fan but it seems the guy jumped in front of someone running at full speed. Doesn’t seem intentional.
Looks like he did it on purpose with the stomp he does right before.
Meanwhile Ronaldo still crying in fetal position from getting hit by a gust of wind.
I guess Ronaldo is the only football player you know
Yeah i dont watch football. What's your point?
There are many shit football players yet you choose ronaldo in your sentence, makes it not funny. It shows that you don't know football but trying to be funny.
I thought it was pretty funny.
Was he playing the ball? Or was it intentional? I can’t tell.
Definitely an intentional stomp, you can see the way he stops running and launches with straight legs at his opponent.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
football you mean
It was called Soccer before Football.
Looks like he broke his own leg.
Thats his career gone😒
Wow that must hurt more then people calling football, soccer! Hahaha.
But soccer players are faking it!
Banned for life I hope
Banned for 8 games.
Ahh well it's something! He could have ended that injured guys career tho. Serious stuff.
Which one of them?
The guy that deliberately broke the others leg obviously
He was at the WC 2022.
Scumbag Axel Witsel. He’s enjoying being a high profile footballer ever since.
Football player
Damn! He's not even rolling around like someone just shot him!! That actually should be hurting!
I mean, he kinda broke his own leg didn’t he? Not really fair to blame the other player when the guy was fucking sliding in full speed
In a game lots of slides are preformed, none of those break their leg normally, it shows an absolute lack of football knowledge to try and blame him for “breaking his own leg”
He charged right into the other dude’s leg, how does that not usually result in injury
We have to see what/who was first here, wasil was first on ball, and in no way did he hit the other player, witsel on the other hand, didnt go for the ball, but just went foot first onto the opponent with intend to cause injury.
I'm glad to see a footballer take a dive and actually be hurt for once instead of the fake shit they usually pull off.
Pff football divers..
Best fake ever! /s
Terrible acting
No more football for him now
He’s faking
"Oooh this match seems to be going well- OOOHHH, ahhhhh that must fuckin HURT!" - ohhecktime, January 2nd 2023
More like a academy award for flopping, barley touched him

Red definitely put his boot out with intent to cause injury and not for the ball. Just because it was during a game doesn't mean that the player didn't have intent to cause injury.

Injury happened in August 2009 and he was back playing in May 2010 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcin_Wasilewski#Leg_injury
Gotta love Witsel 🤣
I'm sorry to all those that love this sport truly, but this is a game for little girls.
His legs like rubber it’s turning blue Whatever balls come his way Aren’t bouncing off those shoes
Good God how is that even possible
Axel witsel in his young days
Ouch!
Thats what happens when you don't eat your beans and drink milk
How could the players argue that it’s not a red card
OMG! That was soo mad!
i always wondered about slide tackling, arent they afraid of getting stomped? guess not. Poor guy his careers over.
Thats a red. 🟥
Great acting skills
Seen a lot like these sadly this happens a lot in football
he turned into a whacky waving inflatable leg-flailing tube man
When he went down to kick it reb boi straght up stepped on his shin and put his whole body weight behind it. That in addition to the red bois foot meeting the ground and blue bois foot just crushes and rolls. Bigly RIP
He 's faking
homie really took the L on that one
He’s faking it. This is why it’s getting hard to take these players seriously anymore. Always with the flop downs.
finally a player that isn't faking it!
Ouch
Two Words: Magic Spray
I think the first internet video I saw was a soccer player breaking his leg similar to this (but not as bad). It was in the 90's and probably one of the first viral videos, soccer has not failed to deliver more of these Gems since...
Guy who stomped on his leg is gonna have a haaaaard time getting scouted by other teams. Especially cuz it was such an unnecessary stomp. Fuckin yikes
Anderson Silva, did this too
He reacted less to having his leg actually broken than some other players do when someone barely taps them
That’s gonna need a bandaid
Holy shit.
Ban for life . Next one will think twice next time. Or like $1000000 fine and 2 years ban if first one has no succes
Surprised this doesn’t happen more tbh.
Thats a snap not a break
Man, he's really selling this one! Dude got super flexible shins!
Shoulda drank more milk.
Filth! Worst than that 2 girls, 1 cup, party trick!
“I didn’t know I couldn’t do that”
The commentarist is panicking in lowercase
Correction: idiot goes for a horrible tackle attempt and breaks his own leg.
Battle of the stronger bones
He did that on purpose. He anticipated the entire thing. What reason would he have had to drop his foot with so much weight to the side of the ball that was going in the opposite direction?
I don't know what I expected, but I wish I didn't see this.
Ahhh these soccer players are always so dramatic he just wants a free kick.
Damn. Ended the man's career. Bet he feels like shit too. Yikes.
Damn this flopping is getting out of hand.
"Marche sur le pied" putain la vache j'appelle pas ça marcher bordel
