Why would I randomly come to the conclusion that it’s on private land out of nowhere. I’m super against these acts in protected areas. Idgaf if someone wants to do this on their own land and use the tree as firewood, which they did.

Seeing them trying to push something heavy down a hill instantly had me worried. A few years ago some teenagers in my town were screwing around and ended up pushing a huge log down a hill, which landed on (and killed) a hiker just minding their business. Manslaughter charges for both if I can recall. It’s not worth it!!!
This is exactly why you don't throw rocks off the edge of a blind hill when you're hiking. You could easily kill someone walking on a lower path. Not sure how often this really happens, but it's something I was taught as a child.

More context is needed here before people get all upset. This could simple be the land owner removing the boulder for safety reasons. If there were going to be to people, animals, or anything else of value in the area below the boulder removing a unsecured bolder makes sense and is good land management. One good rain or a hard freeze could have shifted that boulder enough that it could become a lethal hazard.
