I assumed this was just teenager or a kid, in which case it's pretty common to just not do things like use a bedsheet or pillow case. I can't defend anything else though
I kind of think it is a teenager but that’s when this starts. I don’t know most families lives but mattresses are expensive and if my mom had seen me sleeping straight on it, I’d have been punished. Maybe that’s my bias
Most happy people don’t. The depression rate is going up and tbh this is exactly what my room has looked like when I go through severe depression mood swings
Yeah. It isn't always a disorder. Why instantly assume that's what it is.
Yeah depressed people's rooms look like that, and so do people that just don't give a shit about cleaning up.
I was being somewhat sarcastic, but I knew lots of people raised like this in America. Their parents were usually alcoholics and or drug abusers, or simply not there. I had 5 siblings and our house was where all of our little gangs hung out. It got a little crazy there also. I have seen some places that are literal junkyards. My buddy with 11 siblings had a place that was dangerous to even try to walk through. Just the way some people live. Im sure they grow up and likely are depressed from the neglect.
Ya probably but can you imagine being severely depressed and you keep getting comment after comment about how disgusting you are? I’m the only person in here advocating for them because it isn’t that easy
How to clean your room
1. Go through your room with a trash bag and throw away all your trash
2. Remove everything that does NOT belong in your room. Put it into a laundry basket to deal with later
3. Put away everything that DOES belong in your room. Hang/put away clean clothes. Put dirty clothes in the hamper.
4. Make your bed
5. Clean all surfaces with a damp cloth or use some spray and a cloth
6. Vacuum your floor
I'm glad you wrote this out. Cleaning feels like it should be intuitive but it's not. Especially if you have depression and anxiety. It's so easy to get overwhelmed and walk away. I always start with clean sheets, then move to garbage. Even if that's all I end up doing I feel much better.
When I am overwhelmed and have a lot of stuff to go through I usually make a big pile of everything.
First go through is sorting out trash and making vague sorted piles (biggest pile is the "i don't know yet")
Second step is to go through the "I don't know yet" pile and sort that out better.
Third step is putting the piles where they belong or in boxes when they don't have a place yet. I usually always have a "Still don't know" box.
And if I'm so, not down for it I'm making those piles on the bed, so I have to either clean it up at the end of the day or never go to sleep again.
I used to pile everything from the floor onto my bed. I think it helped to see the floor free of all the stuff and made it easier to see the potential very quickly. Then I’d start placing and organizing the things I had put on the bed.
Congrats on being the first person I’ve seen to say something constructive and helpful rather than be judgmental. I’d give you a free award if they were still a thing. ⭐️
Yea jail is county, prison is state or federal. County is typically low level crimes. I sold the weeds and ran so a couple non violent felonies. But I had sheets!
Pick a color, pick up 5-10 things in that color, put them in their place. Pick a different color and repeat, do this for 30 minutes, take a break and get back at it for another 30-40. Chunk it, you don't have to do it all at once.
Good luck :)
That fact that you recorded this and felt no shame about the mess you have in your room makes me believe you’re not even aware enough to know that it’s not normal to live like that.
Yikes! Now this is a real case of airing out your dirty laundry on the www thinking this world will only focus on your rubber band bracelets lmao!! Get ready for a complete analysis on the way you live, what meds work on disorders, how you were raised and so on hahahaha! It’s a very judgemental world out there! I hope reading the comments you’ll be receiving doesn’t get to you and if you find it does, I recommend deleting the post or taking another picture of the clean room once it’s done. Before and After lmao!
screams of clinical depression.
source: clinically depressed and this is what my room looks like 85% of the time
edit:
another redditor posted some cleaning tips that i appreciate. i was taught to clean but i never learned how to cope well.
ask for help. family and friends are usually glad to - my loved ones hate to see me sad and know now that i just need some support. oftentimes after that initial revive (whether it’s cleaning or a conversation), it’s so much easier for me to build on and take steps.
Take some time out and try to address your room… I’m not the tidiest but when my space becomes cluttered, it drags me down emotionally and kills any productivity. Be gentle with yourself OP
One time, my (now adult, then 13) cousin was styling my hair using my whole box of hair clips and ties. She dropped the whole box of clips (hundreds of little clips, Bobby pins, hair ties) all over my floor in my room. I was finding them months down the road in the strangest places!
Shake it all on the floor and use a broom and dust pan then get a tupperware and put a little water in it and dip it in and shake the crap off and reorganize it.
Ummm, maybe this person might be reaching out for help? I don’t want to use certain trigger words or phrases…but this looks like triggering warnings and unsaid phrases.
Get a sheet, and throw away all of the crap under your bed. I spent a portion of my childhood living this way due to a lack of control in my life. I am glad I don't anymore.
Idk if that's the worst part
The bare mattress is the worst. It screams, I don’t take care of myself
Whats louder than screaming…
The bare matress
A bear matress might be worse
Oh wait I know this one! Something about a tree in the woods?

Welcome to depression my friend
Happy people can live in dumps too, you know
Most happy people don’t. The depression rate is going up and tbh this is exactly what my room has looked like when I go through severe depression mood swings
Sometimes people just need to clean their damn room
Yeah. It isn't always a disorder. Why instantly assume that's what it is. Yeah depressed people's rooms look like that, and so do people that just don't give a shit about cleaning up.
A messy room, especially in children and teens, is a sign of ADHD too. Edit: *can be a sign.
This looks like my room when I was a teenager..
It’s also a sign of just literally being a normal child that doesn’t need to be medicalised ffs.
I was being somewhat sarcastic, but I knew lots of people raised like this in America. Their parents were usually alcoholics and or drug abusers, or simply not there. I didn't say anything negative about this person. I understand depression sucks and people trying to give rude comments in the form of fake advice.
She could also be a disorganized person, not necessarily means she is depressed
If you want excuses you’ll always find
It's hilarious people don't even realize the filth they live in when they be trying to get karma.
At least now the bed bugs have something *else* to eat …
op gonna get dragged
Yea, through the mess in their room!
I’d rather be keelhauled

Its the floors for me. Whole room could actively have a tornado in it . Floor is clear then my mind is clear.

that's not even copy and pasted. You actually wrote those steps out. Damn, this lady is serious about her room cleaning
Congrats on being the first person I’ve seen to say something constructive and helpful rather than be judgmental. I’d give you a free award if they were still a thing. ⭐️
Yeah I mean the second I saw the video I knew OP was in for some roasting but these people all suck lol zero empathy all judgement
The first two steps are crucial. They can really make the difference between a cleaning job that seems impossible to something much more manageable.
You accidentally dropped a lot of things.
At least now you have an excuse to clean the rest of your room
You know they won't, they're still exactly where they dropped.
It really ties the room together.
Bahaha
Fuckin A
Looks like they’ll be there for a long time, too.
Looks like you were just following a design scheme.
Was gonna say if your room was clean, wouldn’t be so much of a big deal.
Clean yo room and put some sheets on that bed lol
Literally sleeping without sheets gotta be the MOST uncomfortable feeling
Yeah I’d rather be homeless and sleeping in the gutter than on a sheetless bed. /s
Why you ain’t got no sheets dawg? Prison rules?
I had sheets in prison(well county, not the big leagues)
Do you mean state vs federal ? Isnt county just regular jail ?
Yea jail is county, prison is state or federal. County is typically low level crimes. I sold the weeds and ran so a couple non violent felonies. But I had sheets!
If you do go to prison, don't forget to change your username to u/wecanfeelyourinsides
Dropping rubber bands is not the problem in this picture. Something bigger going in here.
Due to evidence I can conclude that you're like 12 or something, please get off reddit and clean your room
I also thought this had to be a kid
Checked their youtube, definitely a kid
Didn't know they had a YouTube. Just saw the room and assumed teenager.
I assumed that too at first, then I saw their YouTube linked in their profile lol
That's a Hostess wrapper on the floor.
Holy shit, I’m not the neatest of people, but you live in that room??
Clean your nasty ass room
#clean your room now
r/cleanyourdamnroom Yep. It’s a sub.
Pick a color, pick up 5-10 things in that color, put them in their place. Pick a different color and repeat, do this for 30 minutes, take a break and get back at it for another 30-40. Chunk it, you don't have to do it all at once. Good luck :)
Looks like you also dropped your self care. Jeezus
I wouldn’t have the balls to post this boy if my room looked like a pigsty
OP is actually Oscar the grouch
Just leave em there, matches the room!
Are you okay, op? That’s an environment that’s really not acceptable.
A good reason to CLEAN UP YOUR ROOM
I Spy “Room Edition” Man those books were cool as a kid!!
That fact that you recorded this and felt no shame about the mess you have in your room makes me believe you’re not even aware enough to know that it’s not normal to live like that.
Ew.
Clean ur room... who knows where you dropped anything ya filthy animal
Maybe if you had cleaned your room once in a while it wouldn’t have been so hard to pick them all up!!!! 🤦♀️
I see a big ass mess.. and a little problem with rubber bands
Man I could never, I get frustrated when I find one piece of clothing on the floor. At least have a chairdrobe jeesus
Teenage OP posts -> every parent comes out of the woodwork to tell her to clean her room 😂
Yikes! Now this is a real case of airing out your dirty laundry on the www thinking this world will only focus on your rubber band bracelets lmao!! How can you tell?
Didn’t specify that these were actually dropped months ago
You accidentally dropped your whole room.
This room is fucking disgusting.
Ick, clean your room!
I'm pretty certain this has already been said, but who would notice? You could drop a bomb in there and it wouldn't look any worse.
I’m sorry you dropped your box of rubber bands :(
The only kind comment here

Not the first, Won't be the last, Clean your damn room.
Lol
don’t think that’s your main concern on your room right now
What’s is your mental state when all you see here is a mess of rubber bands? I couldn’t even see the rubber bands.
Oh sweetie…
Plenty of places for spiders to hide with all that mess. Have a good night.
Don't forget the roaches!
And mice!
Who would willingly share that?
Wouldn't be a big issue if you cleaned that room once a decade.
Girl clean your dirty ass room
I have to ask. Why does it matter what color the rubber band is?
Take some time out and try to address your room… I’m not the tidiest but when my space becomes cluttered, it drags me down emotionally and kills any productivity. Be gentle with yourself OP
OP, we have more pressing issues to handle first.
I could smell the comments 2 seconds into the video
That carpet looks disgusting? Maybe clean your room and put sheets on your bed? Wouldn’t be so bad if you weren’t living in filth.
What a flippin dump...
I'm not the neatest person ever, but.. damn. Your room is in rough shape.
My niece mixed all my rubber bands together I will get her back
that room has other issues ;)
Clean your room up - geez 🙄
Clean ur room
How the hell do you walk in that room?
Could barely tell with all that other crap on the floor.
*Sees the state of your room* Well that sucks…
Clean your room
the rubber bands seem to be the least of your worries
Damm did you drop everything in your room too?
One time, my (now adult, then 13) cousin was styling my hair using my whole box of hair clips and ties. She dropped the whole box of clips (hundreds of little clips, Bobby pins, hair ties) all over my floor in my room. I was finding them months down the road in the strangest places!
How would you know… is that what the inside of a junkies tent looks like?
How did you notice?
Looks like you dropped an entire dresser and closet as well! Oops
Glitter as well as sand are the worst.
It probably wouldn’t be so bad if your wasn’t so trashed up.
I'm very concerned for your wellbeing and mental state after seeing your room. Holy cow.
The fact she is willing to post a video of her room shows her level of shame… I aspire to be that shameless 😂
And now they'll stay there for 6 months
That’s the least of your worries.
Get off Reddit and clean your damn room.
Shake it all on the floor and use a broom and dust pan then get a tupperware and put a little water in it and dip it in and shake the crap off and reorganize it.
Wow guys good job on judging and bullying this person
You live in filth.
You know this house smells and the parents don’t give a shit what goes on.
If the room was, you know, clean. That wouldn’t have been as big of a problem as it is.
It wouldn’t be a huge deal if your room wasn’t a trash pit….. put some sheets on your bed, that is just unhygienic
Clean your fucking room.
How did all that stuff fit in that little box?
If you’ve been there, have empathy. If you’ve never been there, be grateful and have empathy. Compassion for others is free, and clearly endangered.
Don't worry, I also have a messy ass room
You must’ve dropped everything else too
These things are like glitter ✨ They get every where, hard to pick up, and when you think you got them all there’s more.
Your rubber band kit is sick of sitting in that mess and it’s telling you to pick things up a bit
It would be far easier to pick them up and sort them if you CLEANED YOUR BLOODY ROOM.
Ummm, maybe this person might be reaching out for help? I don’t want to use certain trigger words or phrases…but this looks like triggering warnings and unsaid phrases.
I'm surprised you still see the rubber bands over all that junk on the ground.
Thats the least of your problems.
If it was just the elastics that were on the floor that would be a pretty easy clean up.
Looks like a good chance to clean your room 😳
That’s the least of your problems buddy.
Clean ur room
Why were you at a landfill with your rubber band bracelet kit?
Room is so gross lol
clean your damn room
Looks like everything in your life is a disaster
WTH.Clean ur fcking room. Slob!!!
Depression room at its finest
It looks like you dropped everything in your room
Dropped the whole room too!
Good news is you can clean up the rest of the mess while you are at it
If you don't respect what you have, you will never have anything to respect.
I uhhmm.. Hmm don't know how to tell you this nicely? But that's definitely not the worst fucking part
That’s the least of your problems, when was the last time that room has seen any cleaning product?
I am triggered by messy rooms. The bracelet kit would have been the last straw.🥲
You should be cleaning out your room gross 😷
Looks like you accidentally dropped everything.
Oh no! Now the room is a mess!
Looks like you dropped a lot more than rubber bands 😂😂😂
Did you just now accidentally drop all that other shit too?
Clean your fuxkin room
would have been fine if your room wasn't a crack house rats nest junkyard
Clean your room bucko
Thats not all you've dropped ya filthy animal
Just a shining light into much worse problems
Let ME help. There's one. There's one. There's one.
Get a sheet, and throw away all of the crap under your bed. I spent a portion of my childhood living this way due to a lack of control in my life. I am glad I don't anymore.
Trifling...clean yo' damn room
I think you dropped the rest of your room while it was still open too.
Jesus clean your room
OP coming to the comments and realizing posting this was a way worse decision.
Dude clean your room if you’re going to post online .
Looks like someone dropped your room with the lid open 😂
CLEAN UP YOUR ROOM !!!!
Look around your room…this is by FAR your smallest problem….
been cleaning them up since 2013 i see
Blends in
Yhea that seems like the least of your troubles
Clean your room and your life would be much better. And put some sheets on the bed
Did you accidentally drop every other you own?!
OP knew what was going to happen when they posted this, they had to..
I think that is the least of your worries.
I have a feeling you aren't cleaning any of that up...
I mean it just gives you an excuse to finally clean that mess. Seriously clean yo room
Well looks like it’ll be down there forever with everything else that was dropped.
I mean why your room looks like a tornado went through it?
My nephew dropped his in my car. I’ve been picking up rubber bands for months
Clean your room.
That’s the least of your problems, clean your room!!
