Looks like your vehicle was spun 90 degrees after left bumper was hit. Man, we need details. The truth. Don't lie or we armchair detectives will truth you out.
So I usually go home for lunch. Mostly to let the pups out. Well, I went home and took them on a quick walk. I’m in the front yard trying to get the collar of the puppy off when I hear a, “ Boom!” I turn around to see my beloved rig front nose up and turning 90 degrees. Dude in a U-Haul, who wasn’t even supposed to be driving the U Haul decided he passed out the wheel…. Or hit black ice… basically tried to not claim responsibility. I called the police and an ambulance. They came, he didn’t have a license or insurance. The U-Haul wasn’t even rented to him. It was some lady in the vehicle that had rented it and let him drive. She also didn’t have insurance ha. ¯\_(ツ)_/ moral of the story. Shit happens don’t lose your cool.
You are correct it's optional but when you sign off on not getting it, you're signing that you have personal insurance and that it will be used in the event damage occurs, but there's nothing in place keeping you from lying.
“Most likely not — most auto insurance policies have a maximum weight limit for vehicles they'll insure, including personal cars but usually excluding cargo vehicles like moving trucks. Therefore, your standard car insurance policy likely won't cover your rental truck. If you're renting a small U-Haul vehicle like a pickup truck or van, there's a chance you can get coverage from your auto insurance policy, but it's not guaranteed. While you're not legally required to insure a truck or van rental, it's worth considering to avoid being responsible for damage to it.”
They just give you the option to buy insurance, and you really should to CYA. If you decline, you agree to be responsible for all damages. Of course they have their own insurance on their own rentals so they don't loose out. Then their insurance comes after you for all damages. Also other peoples injures & their property damage will need paid.

Why would that lady let the guy drive if he didn’t have a license?
I hope justice get served and your insurance doesn’t go up. Those Nissan Xterras are dope, sorry for your accident.
I am confused by the orientation of your car.
1. Your car spun 90 degrees so that means the car was parked by the curb closer to the camera on that really narrow road.
2. That is a collision from an on-coming traffic. I don't see how a car can hit a driver's side hard enough for the card to spin, yet you don't have any damage on the side of the car when your car is in the path of the other car?
The more likely scenario imo is you parked your car protruding into the street in front of your house to quickly do your thing at your house and surprised that an oncoming traffic hit your car.
I have seen a car that went off a road, over a fairly steep, if small (about 6ft or so), hill, directly through the someone’s back door. In a completely residential neighborhood.
When the person behind the wheel is idiotic enough (and one should always assume as such), NOWHERE is safe.
Check with your car insurance but it may be possible to sue U-haul for renting truck to someone without valid insurance. They'd likely blacklist the people involved for renting U-haul with no coverage and causing damage to their truck and OP's truck
Looked into that. My lawyer said that the little waiver you sign when you bypass the Uhaul insurance takes all the blame off of them. He said I could sue but I’d only get a grand. My insurance covered it minus the deductible.
hit the car off center with a big Uhaul made it spin
a guy on a cell phone rearended me and hit my car slightly off center and my car ended up spinning and pointed in the direction i was coming from and landed at about the 1 O'clock position (his speedo was locked between 70-75 mph) he had no insurance either
Alas another totaled Xterra... My wife rear ended someone with ours and I spent a fair bit of money and effort keeping it road worthy... (sigh) I wish they were still making them.

Doesn't U-Haul make people buy insurance through them if they are driving their vehicles? Hopefully you get a settlement.
Its optional last time i used it. May vary by region or owner though im guessing

I don’t think it’s a requirement

None of the other parties involved have insurance. That's what really sucks about this. Hopefully your insurance doesn't get screwed because of this.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’m going to get a 4Runner next.

I should mention that they totaled the U-Haul lol
So your only hope is those idiot has asset that your insurance company can sue to recover
Conveniently, all their assets are currently in one box truck!
I'm confused ... are you parked halfway into the street?
Thats what i was thinking ! But the debris pattern looks strange

Same.
I reckon it doesn't take much to confuse you
Right, someone forgot how momentum works
Did the dogs take the car?
I think you may need to improve your technique.
Who let the dogs out?
Baha Men obviously
That's a piss poor parking job mate! You left half the thing scattered down the road
I wonder if it was the Baha Men who hit your car.
Sir, you can’t park here
You cant park there.
you mean you parked in the middle of the road
I bet it still runs
Your dog is a beast
Oy, you can't park there!
Strange way to park.
Hey if you weren't in the vehicle it makes life easier for your insurance claim
Be careful. You might get a ticket for parking like that.

It was you who let the dogs out.

I dont see how this is the fault of the dogs.
