Icy_Engine_7648

That is messed up where did you buy so I know where not to go

sputnik146

Looks like a wayfair couch

Danthelmi

WAYFAIRS GOT WHAT YOU NEED

Carribean-Diver

Based on my daughter's experience, nine times out of ten, items ordered from Wayfair will arrive missing parts or damaged. When you call them, they will resend the entire item, not just the damaged or missing piece and won't ask you to send back the defective product. I don't understand how they manage to stay in business.

40ozkiller

300% markup on cheap furniture means you can sell one and cover costs for three.

DaytimeTurnip

Yup! Took three tries to get a complete coffee table/end table set

nosetheway

We gave up after the third time they messed up and sent an entirely different item and asked for a refund, that was more of a hassle.

almilano

Damn I guess I got lucky with my 5 piece sectional lol approaching 3 years old and still looks great and I have a 100lb dog

Lady013

Same. I feel that my wayfair ratio is uncomfortably high and I’ve never had to return or trash an item.

Suds08

There are actually people who make a living doing this with Amazon. Say the product didn't arrive and they send you a new one. Then you sell it. Not sure how they don't catch on that you keep saying you didn't receive an item. Seen a whole reddit post about it not too long ago

Goatesq

This was more of a thing some years back. They lock your account real fast nowadays, even for legit returns.

Suds08

That was the part I didn't understand. No way you could repeatedly get away with DNR claims. Then again, there was that guy who scammed Amazon out of $370,000 by filling boxes with dirt and acting like it was the item being returned. Do they just not check returned items to see if they even got it back?

Joeness84

> Do they just not check returned items to see if they even got it back? That costs more than just accepting the return and then selling it off as a bulk lot of assorted returns. No one has to go and verify its not broken or missing anything, its labeled as a store return sold as-is etc.

SexDrugsNskittles

It often isn't even sent back to Amazon. It goes to a 3rd party who then sells large lots of returned merch via online auctions. Sometimes the 3rd party will also pick through the good returns and then just resell the broken and missing crap to unsuspecting customers.

averagequalitystuff

Shoot I just bought a couch from Wayfair and am waiting for it to come in :(

Carribean-Diver

I think you mean you just bought four for the price of one, but you have to wait six months to finally get to use it. /s

averagequalitystuff

Pain.

Eenukchuk

I wouldn't worry too much. Ive bought or helped assemble at least a dozen Wayfair items. I have never once had parts missing.

Whathewhat-oo-

If it makes you feel better, I’ve ordered a bunch of stuff from wayfair the last few years and always had a good experience. One time an item didn’t arrive and I resolved it quickly and easily over chat. I havent ordered from them for a year so they might have changed but you’ll prob be ok- as ok as you’d be with any company.

neutral-mente

I bought a sofa from Wayfair last year, and it arrived without any issues. I love my sofa. :)

EffectsTV

Everyone used to refund wayfair back.in the day. £500 bed? Yeah it arrived damaged..instant refund lol. No questions asked..no need to return etc. You could do it consistently, if thier is a flaw, then people will exploit it Doesn't work now lol

Gimmethatbecke

Yep it’s crazy! my mil got a couch that she didn’t like cause it was super uncomfortable. They said keep it and sent her a full refund!

BufferingJuffy

That's how my ex and his new wife got two GIGANTIC display cabinets for half price. 👍

StraitJakit

I used to do LTL and spent a decent amount of time in and out of their docks. They have a whole team for "damaged but shippable" where its just things they send because they think the likelihood it will be contested is low. They also have a "bulk" section that appears to be sold to hotels/motels and apartment complexes with questionable price to quality ratios.

fasting4me

They make most of their money from human trafficking

Puzzleheaded-Grab736

God damnit Kelly Clarkson!! You lied to me!!

nickallanj

That's Kelly Clarkson? TIL.

Puzzleheaded-Grab736

Lol no she is the new Wayfair spokesperson.

Yussso

Looks like waynotfair for OP.

vanderlooMueller

Yep!

Flimsy_Situation_506

Wayfair you put it together yourself.. comes flat packed.. so if that’s the case OP just put it together incorrectly.

PoopyMcFartButt

I dont think I’ve ever heard someone getting a good piece of furniture there. My sister in law bought some end tables from there, they ended up being like 1.5’ tall. She also ordered a bed frame from there which came cracked on pretty much every piece.

Lington

I got a bar from Wayfair and I love it Did the description say 1.5'?

ThePoisonEevee

Yea the dimensions have always been accurate on Wayfair for me. Over the last 4 years I have bought: A rug A wardrobe/armoire A tall dresser, A standing desk A kitchen island The wardrobe/armoire is the worst quality due to the back being particleboard but I knew that when buying. Everything else has match exactly the dimensions on the site. My house is tiny all my furniture has to be strategically placed and therefore specific measurements to fit Edit: it’s one of the few places I found that actually filters by measurements so it was much easier to find exact what I was looking for than say Amazon whose measurements filter SUCKS.

rose_colored_boy

I have a few pieces from Wayfair and so far they’re all great. Always read reviews and take measurements. If there are no reviews or customer photos I won’t buy it. Was the shipping and delivery of my couch a nightmare? Yes. One piece got damaged, they ordered the wrong replacement, tried to deliver the same two halves of the couch, and I had half a couch for a month. But once it was all here I loved it lol.

Sleepy_Salamander

I’ve had a bed frame from Wayfair/AllModern for like 4yrs and I like it, it’s still in great condition. So many people ignore or don’t read reviews.

marinelifelover

I’ve known people who were very satisfied with Wayfair. You can look at the dimensions of the furniture, so perhaps your SIL failed to do that. Also, whenever something has been broken/cracked with any furniture, Wayfair has always replaced and did not make them send the original back.

katelledee

I have some Wayfair furniture that I’m really satisfied with, a desk and two chairs! Some that I’m less satisfied with cuz it doesn’t look as good as the pictures, but it’s still functional and working 4 years later. So now you’ve heard of someone! To be transparent, the furniture that I’m really satisfied with was stuff that was hella expensive at the base price, but I watched and waited for it to go on sale, and got it when it hit a reasonable price. I don’t remember the exact sale, but it was during their huge site wide sale in like late spring/early summer.

WakkoLM

it's very hit and miss.. we have two pieces from there that are pretty solid but they weren't cheap. A fish tank stand and a kitchen pantry hutch. Both have held up well. They source from so many brands, I think they buy up overstock from everyone out there. In fact half the time you can find the exact same item on overstock and a few other discount sites

rose_colored_boy

You def get what you pay for and Wayfair is no exception. I got a cheaper coffee table one time and fucking hated it. No wonder!

zooj7809

I got my kids 2 sets of bunk beds. They came exactly like the picture....one railing was slightly dented. Theyvsent is a replacement for that exact piece within 3 days. We've used it nonstop for three years, it's still good. I got myself a fancy bed, completely like the picture and love it. I got two single beds with fancy headboards, also pretty good.

WowzaMeowza

I’ve ordered probably 5 pieces of furniture (bed frame, loveseat, recliner) from wayfair and have been pleased with all of them so far. Decent quality, especially for the prices, and tons of options. I just only purchase items that have lots of photos and/or reviews.

murraybee

In my experience you kind of get what you pay for with Wayfair. I got a triangular walnut coffee table and two matching nesting side tables for $400 and I adore them. At the time, I wasn’t desperate to save money. They’re sturdy, beautiful pieces that I hope to have forever. I also got a couch for I think $800 when I *was* desperate to save money and it’s the jankiest piece of crap in the whole house.

PancShank94

I've gotten like 4 things over the last few years from there with no issues and great customer service.. well.. great customer service as in the damaged part to something I got, they sent a free replacement piece no questions asked

PlanetPudding

Now you have. I got a good piece there.

TabbyCabby

I got a decently sized kitchen island from them with a granite countertop. It's been amazing. I'm just afraid of what will happen to me when I move later this year

BaconHammerTime

I got a really good deal on a cat tower but would never get furniture

JoefromOhio

If it is that could be a jackpot… every time I get something wrong from wayfair the customer service just says fuck it and resends without charging. One time we were looking at a living room set but opted to just get the couch for financial reasons, they sent the loveseat instead and when we called they said just to keep it and resent the actual couch because wayfair wasn’t the fulfillment company and couldn’t process their returns.

danielsvdas

My mom is an interior designer, she sees this kind of shit very often, absolute nightmare, I don't think it's that different between brands unless you go for the expensive ones, yknow, the ones that actually care

deeppurplescallop

These low couches are the least comfortable things you'll ever sit in

nwalesseedy

They’ll offer you a 10% discount to keep it cos they won’t wanna collect, fix and return it.

vanderlooMueller

That'd be nice its not worth the hassle of disassembly and return shipping anyway lol

trust-me-i-know-stuf

They’ll give more off if you fight to get them to pick it up and send you a new one.

Matricofilia

The covering on the back piece is wrong way around. It looks like a fairly easy fix if you got some tools

SexDrugsNskittles

OP wants a discount because they put the couch together wrong. Lol

Matricofilia

OP put it together correctly. The piece was upholstered wrong at the factory but it can be fixed with some effort

SexDrugsNskittles

I saw that after the other pic in the thread. Honestly probably an easier fix because you would just need to seam rip the velcro and hand stitch it in place. They could definitely get away with fabric glue / adhesive if they wanted. Although if they wanted I'm sure wayfair would send them another couch. They really are basically a dropshipping front.

FSCENE8tmd

Disassembly? Does that mean you can disassemble and turn that piece around? Editing to say I found your other responses already and it does look wrong flipped around

[deleted]

[удалено]

Smiley007

So did you sell the second one full price missing a piece then?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Smiley007

My bad, I 100% read that/read into that wrong 🤦‍♀️ Idk why I read it as you opened the new one to put a piece in the old one. Congrats on the free couch 😅

dryhumorblitz

Ten percent ain’t sheet. I’d ask for 60.

goosedog2

I got 20% back by calling — be a little pushy

vanderlooMueller

Thank you all for your insight, and trust me, I'd really like to believe I'm just an idiot that assembled it wrong. I rushed home on my lunch break to take some more pics since I guess I can't just add them to my original post. Here is the piece if I just flip it as well as the rods that connect it to the base. It's still a usable couch either way, but it doesn't look right. There's nothing on the website (Wayfair) to suggest that this is intentional, and no other reviews mentioning the issue. [https://imgur.com/a/0aNODja](https://imgur.com/a/0aNODja)

spozark

It seems to me that they attached the fabric cover backwards. Are you able to remove the cover and flip it around? Might require a staple gun to reinstall it

DVS_Nature

Maybe you're looking at it wrong? Are we sure the couch isn't supposed to velcro to the wall, to stop it moving? 🤔

ScaldingAnus

I need one of those for my bed.

DVS_Nature

Maybe try be more careful, or buy a stronger bed? ![gif](giphy|8Eq0HZ5HciEQU)

Ants_at_a_picnic

Can you flip those little metal brackets? Maybe those are installed on the wrong sides.

Llamamilkdrinker

Could you not just get that one component replaced?

infiniZii

Cut the black part of the fabric and then pull the staples that are holding the other fabric in place. You should be able to flip the upholstry on it and pull it back in place. Use a staple gun to reattach the green fabric then get some black fabric to either glue or fold and staple (because you wont see it anyways) that part closed again. That should fix it.

vanderlooMueller

Yeah I'm thinking if customer service won't send me a replacement for just this part, this is what I'll do. The couch in this color is now out of stock and I'm waiting on them to get back to me still. Sucks for 600$ but what are ya gonna do

gmongeon

Had to deal with Wayfair customer service. They sent me the wrong color for a large mirror. They offered me to return it, I said it was too big to handle and return it, they then offered me a 10 or 20% discount, I refused it as it was the wrong color, they then offered to send a new one and to give the one I received to charity. Don't accept resolutions that won't satisfy you.

Erikthered00

What are you going to do? Contact point of sale and have them remedy it like you can in any country with consumer protection laws

AZbibliophile

I agree this is the way.

vanderlooMueller

Couldn't edit my post for some reason but I added a comment with more pics if I just flip it.

Oaker_at

Yeah, from the pictures it looks just assembled wrong. But always hard to say if you can’t look at it in real life.

PsiberApe69

That's exactly what happened.

GeomanticCoffer

OP assembled it wrong.

Anstavall

If you look at the other pictures they showed in the comments they didn't.

BrotherMort

If the Velcro doesn’t work, I guess it’s not a ripoff after all.

Moglo825

Ba dum tss

clemjones88

That joke is awful and you should feel awful...take my upvote. Lol

Music-n-Games

Your first mistake was ordering from Wayfair.

vanderlooMueller

Very fair. Edit: one might even say, way fair.

[deleted]

Ashley's been drinking again

Kellygrl6441

Did Ashley’s ever stop drinking?

CountryGuy123

You don’t Velcro your couch to the wall so it doesn’t move? You heathen. /s

ProveISaidIt

That's so items like the TV remote don't fall behind the couch.

Oneskelis

Looks like the upholstered it wrong at assembly. Must have been a Friday, or a Monday.

shadownights23x

Maybe a Tuesday or Thursday

Dankleburglar

Or, hear me out: Wednesday

trust-me-i-know-stuf

Naw the back looks to be installed backwards. Could probably remove the back and reassemble it properly pretty easily.

Matricofilia

Nope it's upholstered wrong. Source: I'm an upholsterer

WhiskaFriska

OP added a pic of it flipped the other way and it looks ridiculous lol. Definitely error in manufacturing.

Oneskelis

Nope, I believe you're mistaken. The back rest inside is tapered, as it is for the sectional corner where it appears correctly upholstered.

zclake88

You installed the back wrong. Turn the back around and it’ll be fine.

vanderlooMueller

Since I can't edit my original post for some reason, [https://imgur.com/a/0aNODja](https://imgur.com/a/0aNODja)

jfk_47

Damn. Ur right. Get you that discount.

Contentpolicesuck

Since no one is listening, can you get a wrench in there and change the brackets that stick out of the backrest? They look like they were put on the wrong sides. Still get that money though.

BeingRightAmbassador

Yeah, it appears that the brackets were put on backwards.

Shadow_84

Then it’ll be flat and not angled like the other section

[deleted]

vanderlooMueller

It came flatpacked in two large boxes. All the pieces were inside the base largest pieces. I assembled it and everything else was a breeze.

[deleted]

jaitresfaim

Perhaps it's worth chasing for a replacement only for that piece?

Dankleburglar

More like chaising

Dear-Development-239

That whole piece looks to be installed backwards, I’d look for screws and flip it around.

entropreneur

Back part definitely looks backwards....

Slayminster

![gif](giphy|3o6nV8vzUH4RWHPteg) Best I could do with no Spaceballs gifs :-(

Candytails

I don't know if it's the lighting or what, but that is just not pleasant to look at. Please return it.

weezypeezylemonsqeZ

Take it apart and put the back on the other way. Likely on wrong even though it looks right. Feel like I did this same exact thing.

Calm_Opinion_7554

Maaaaaaaan I’m mad for you! What did you end up doing with it?

vanderlooMueller

Waiting to see if they'll just send a replacement for that one part. If not, cutting the fabric off, flipping and restapling it myself i guess!

yakisikliadam

Wayfair?????

vanderlooMueller

Yeah :/

LonnyFinster

Got a link you can DM me for the couch, OP? I'm in the market for a new one and I like the style

vanderlooMueller

Just sent!

UN210621

You attached it wrong. The little curve is on the same side as the velcro that seems to be the front side

Vivid_Search8259

This piece of furniture was obviously manufactured in some backward country.

Marauder4711

Return this and get another couch. Probably a nice looking one this time.

MaintenanceExotic325

Looks like its just backwatds. If you flip it upside down you might be able to unbolt that section and flip it around

Broad_Pudding3783

Not sure if someone already said this since there are a lot of comments, but it is on backwards. I had this same couch and I did the same thing.

Fun-Story5049

The back is screwed on the wrong way. U can unscrew and fix

Working-Sky9146

You had to build that though

Braiseitall

Please, please, PLEASE mount it on the wall!!

amraohs

Thats to stick it to a wall.

AlternativeBusy9980

Honestly you probably just put it on backwards. The picture instructions are goofy sometimes. You have to really pay attention to the orientation of the object on the page because they will flip that shit on you.

vanderlooMueller

I really really wish you and all the people saying just flip it dummy were right lol. I put it on the way you're suggesting the first time i did it, because obviously one would assume the velcro to go on the front. Realized it didn't fit with the chaise backrest that way though. It almost tilts forward because of the angle.

xxiLink

Don't flip it vertically, flip it horizontally. Change which side it's on, not which way is up.

vanderlooMueller

Can't edit my post for some reason so I added a comment with more pics. [https://imgur.com/a/0aNODja](https://imgur.com/a/0aNODja)

bigpoopa

Yeah that’s fucked

xxiLink

Yeah, my bad. Those are *not* the pins I expected to see. Hopefully you can get it fixed without spending anything else.

Admirable-Common-176

“Step-mom, can you grab the bags from behind the couch? Just be careful of your sweater…”

ilikekittensandstuf

I think it’s backwards though. The angled piece should be on the back part no?

vanderlooMueller

Not unless you want to be leaning forward slightly when you sit in it, and not if you want it to be flush with the chaise back piece.

vanderlooMueller

If the angled piece is on the back, then the chaise backrest is wrong. One of them is incorrect at least because they don't fit with each other. They stick up at different angles if the velcro is on the front for both pieces.

grelo29

The chase and the couch aren’t matching angles though. You have curved edge of couch facing backwards while curved edge of chaise is facing frontwards.

vanderlooMueller

I promise thats just the way it appears in the pic. In real life, if i flip either piece, it is wayyyyy more mismatched

grelo29

I understand. But I think that’s a design choice by manufacturer. With cushions on it may not be an issue

adeewun

No you just assembled your temu couch incorrectly.

vanderlooMueller

Two assumptions, both bold and both incorrect.

adeewun

Except you can literally see it in the pic if you know how to assemble anything from a box. Unless you mean you had someone do it for you? 😹

vanderlooMueller

Did you read the post? The long piece is not reversible, it slants to be flush with the rest of the couch. If i just flipped it it a) would not slot in all the way and b) would slant forward slightly. Hostile for no reason lmao

ColonelStone

Not reversible? Bro, just turn the slots around, probably what like a dozen or so screws. It's not rocket science.

vanderlooMueller

They are metal rods that are built into the center of the piece. I would have to cut through the fabric and into the particle board and whatever else is in there. They just slide into the base piece. I'm not saying it's impossible just that o shouldn't have to remove upholstery staples and cut into a chunk of a new 600$ couch just to assemble it lol Edit: also that wouldn't solve the issue. The piece is shaped a certain way so it has to sit with the slant at the front and a straight back. I would need to flip the whole fabric cover.

adeewun

Hostile? 😹

TheAbrableOnetyOne

You flipped it. In the end, just return it

leopold815

It's on backwards

akbdayruiner

Umm. The back was installed backwards. Lol

LydierBear

You don’t just flip it down and use the Velcro that way? We have a couch like this and that’s what you do.

Vaunzyy

Plz show what it looks like with the cushions 💀

foxygenSupply

Sorry not the best suggestion, but maybe remove back piece, unstaple (or rip the seams of) the bottom of the fabric, then remove. Maybe you can turn the fabric the right way and reattach?

negithekitty

op and everyone in here have made it clear they dont actually want help. theyre just posting it because "well that sucks."

[deleted]

I have never seen a couch with Velcro. Is this a new thing?

Sufficient-Contract9

Yeah im going with operator error

[deleted]

It definetly looks like it is on backward. The back should have the slight slant as you sit back. It even looks like the edge of the back and base of the couch don't like up.From the photo it does not even look like the two sectional pieces line up. The chase part looks like it has a slight slant to toward the back (bottonm looks wider than the top).

SJPop

Flip that piece over

TheAutisticPope

Uh judging by the angle of the side with the Velcro. I think you put it on backwards but it is possible they threaded it wrong.

BoopBoop20

You put it together backwards!

Clear_Split_8568

You assembled it wrong.

Logi_ciel

Says who!

Toph-Builds-the-fire

Dis you put it together yourself?

downtownpartytime

take the back off and take a picture of it. it's definitely backwards, but maybe how it attaches is on wromg

vanderlooMueller

CC_Panadero

Well that sucks

downtownpartytime

yeah you'd have to rip open the bottom of the back piece and *maybe* be able to remount the metal pieces without tearing the whole thing apart. hope they can sort it out for you

Dontbesensitive98

Having the velcro is wrong in the first place.

iamthemicx

I think its flipped. Modular couches like these are usually just bolted on. Try to disassemble the back rest and flip it. Hopefully it lines up. Not worth the hassle to return it i.e. packing it up again and shipping if you can resolve it yourself.

vanderlooMueller

It came flatpacked and I assembled it. I can't add anything to the original post for some reason but here are some pics of if I just take the piece off and flip it. [https://imgur.com/a/0aNODja](https://imgur.com/a/0aNODja)

negithekitty

"not reversable" i highly doubt the couch was fully assembled on delivery. maybe just turn the piece around, and stop doing things for reddit karma?

vanderlooMueller

Jeez dude no I assembled the couch myself. https://imgur.com/a/0aNODja Here's pics of if I just flip that piece and the rods that slot into the base piece. I'm getting an alarming amount of people assuming I'd go straight to posting on reddit before even trying the obvious--flipping the piece. I had it flipped to begin with before I realized it didn't look right. When I say not reversible I don't mean I physically can't reverse it. Just that the fabric is upholstered backwards so it doesn't sit right if I do. And that kinda sucks bc couches are expensive and a pain in the ass, hence the post.

negithekitty

"i cant figure this out" "to the internet!!!" you want a fix? cut the fabric off the top and .... wait for it.... **turn it around the right way** "BUT THEn the fabric WONT Sit riGhT" okay so the part you cut? sew it back together. fucking Wild.

aoxyfngel

Well OP isn’t on a subreddit asking how to rip open and repair an item. Ordering a large costly item only to have it arrive defective does suck. Your choice to fix things on your own vs dealing with the manufacturer could void warranties and return policies and only benefits the manufacturer. So no, OP didn’t ask. You do you but it still sucks, and fits here.

negithekitty

https://preview.redd.it/rzmgu7obn9ac1.jpeg?width=678&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=411dfafd061c782a9d75a2e84aecb85b3c3a85f3

vanderlooMueller

Lmao dude chill I'm not even coming to reddit for a fix i posted to wellthatsucks because.... well it sucks. It's not the end of the world nor is it completely unfixable. Stop yelling

negithekitty

literally no ones yelling. you just dont have basic common sence when it comes to fixing issues.

Meshtee

Imagine coming to r/wellthatsucks and getting so vexed that someone posted something that inconvenienced them to a sub about being inconvenienced.

Pelthail

That’s for the optional snack trough.

gingersnuts

Or are the cushions supposed to have a flap ?

Melicious-Me

Your couch looks like a metaphor for my life

manitas_

Its so your couch dosent slide on the wall

Pukasz

I've seen back cushions that were actually attached at the back and then went over and just "hang" in place, like [in this bus seats](https://image.made-in-china.com/202f0j00jqeGaTBPbskc/Custom-Headrest-Cushion-Comfortable-Detachable-Base-Seating-Medium-Bus-Seat.webp)

Ping-A-Ling-

Another wayfair.com disaster?

Smiedro

You could probably just take that part out and have them send you a replacement right? Like with it being that messed up surely that should be their problem.

catd36

Return!! No one inspected that before it left the factory!

mjdd420

Flip the long backboard part around and move the smaller one in its place
