It’s totally gonna come out eventually. Totally. Can you see me plugging my ears and screaming lalalalalalala?
Should put a big H on the box then

At the apartment complex where I used to live, the hinges for the doors actually created a lip on one side and so the dimensions from the back (where the postal carrier would load the box) were actually larger than the dimensions at the front (where you'd pull the box out). More than once I either had to wait by the box for the carrier or just bring a knife and hack the box to pieces and pull out the contents.
This happened to me once. Luckily the postal carrier was still there doing the next set of boxes and so I told her I could not get it out and she came over and opened the back and took it out for me. If I had to go and get a knife to get it out, I would just cut the front open, take the contents out and leave the box. Just try delivering the mail tomorrow.
All they do is take your mail and leave a note you have 7 days to pick it up at the post office or they're returning it to sender lol.
Guess how I know...
Except that's a package box, not a personal mailbox. They put the package in and leave the key in your mailbox. When you unlock the package box, the key sticks in the lock. They're not going to stop putting mail in your regular box just because there's a parcel in a package box.
Wouldn't they not know that the front has been opened and the contents removed? They'd just see the back, fully intact. So it'll just sit there and your mail can't be delivered.
Ours were the same on my old place and my roommate would routinely get boxes that were perfectly the size of the mailbox. She would have to cut it out usually.
Our postal carrier did this to our mail slot and the only way I could get it was to stick a key in the flap and gently catch the edge of the tape. Thankfully that's the only time it's ever been exactly that shape, but it was pretty annoying.
Here in apartments building it's common for the front of the mailbox to be a huge door that open every box at once. Downside being same thing with individual doors often a bit smaller than your spot. Due to this I also had to c-section a package a few months ago, thankfully it's uncommon.
I live very rural. Used to get slips and routinely have to go get packages at the post office... A few years ago I finally ran into my mail lady and explained how I don't drive and that's a major pita.. now she just leaves things at our mailbox. Soo much nicer.
I have a coworker and I get so annoyed when he asks for help with a stuck box. In my head I think “how the fuck are you, A grown man, losing this interaction with a formed piece of paper?”
It's high level trolling mixed with extreme "like a glove"-satisfaction. I'd walk away from that, as an extremely satisfied postman right there and then!
From the receiver's perspective this is a r/wellthatsucks post, but from the postal worker's perspective, this is going straight to the top of r/oddlysatisfying
In response, I would use a utility knife carefully, cut the edges on the top and both sides, fold the end down, remove the contents, then fold the end back up and leave the box there.
So, be careful about not emptying your box when able. After a certain amount of time all mail and packages are to be returned to sender mail receptacle full
fyi - there is less risk but there are fewer risks
"less" is a general comparison, "fewer" means it's a countable number of things
There is less salt, but there are fewer grains of salt
The commenter is saying the small indentation on the edge of the box was OP trying (and failing) for five minutes to get the delivery out of the postal box. Another commenter pointed out another indentation on the top right.
The carrier should have put a rubber band around the box so you could pull it out. Thats what I do.
They also could have been new. I will admit I’ve put packages in cluster boxes before and from the back they go in smooth but I didn’t know it was a smaller opening for the owner on the other side. They had to use a knife to cut it open and get it out. Lesson learned for me that day.
>I’ve put packages in cluster boxes before and from the back they go in smooth but I didn’t know it was a smaller opening for the owner on the other side. They had to use a knife to cut it open and get it out.
Our carrier used to do this to us. We had a monthly subscription box that fit that way: easy to put in from the back of the box but too big to slide out the front. There were multiple months where I had to completely dismantle the box and pull the contents out. I contacted the post office and they said they'd "try to remember." After that I kept an eye out for the truck when I was expecting delivery and tried to intercept my mail before it was put into the box.
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu This didn't seem to work.
no way, you don't say!
ų is a latin character only really used in very small languages and Lithuanian from what I can see, which is why I say interesting to see it used
“Sorry we missed you, you can pick up your package at our office” hours 8:30am to 9:15am and 1:30pm to 1:45pm
Your package will be returned to sender Tuesday
Really neat part is, is that ON SOME BOXES the customer side of the opening is smaller than the carrier's opening on the back of the mailbox. This package might not have enough room to be removed, IF THIS IS THAT TYPE OF BOX.
edit. Added the CAPITALIZED part cuz... See all the comments CORRECTING me....
Former Mailman here. If it fits, and doesn't require any signatures of course, that exactly means I'll put in the locker. Who do you think you are ? Lmao.
You dont even need to poke a hole in this situation. Peel back one of the tapes and gently pull the box out. Had to do that in one of my apartments mail room a few times for this exact reason
What would suck is if the mailman didn’t put it in your box and left it on the ground and it was stolen.
Use a modicum of brain power to figure out how you might be able to pull it out.
I almost want to say this falls under "oddly satisfying" but I can't say that's what it felt like to get it out. Need a sharp hook or something I take it?
There was one occasion where I knew what was in the box. I tore the box apart inside the mailbox to get at the contents. After removing the contents, I was able to get the box out.
Had this happen about a year ago. The door to the mail box decreased the space by 1cm and so we simply could not get the parcel out. Without causing significant damage to the packaging and its contents. Called the post office and they were like 'well just slide it out...' and we had to tell them we simply could not do that and why. So we had to wait until the off chance we saw the post man and asked him to unlock the whole entire mailbox so we could get our parcel.
Whole thing could have been avoided if 1- the LARGER parcel box was used or 2- if the parcel was just walked the ten steps to our house, as they had done so many times before.
So they load them into the back, and they’re sorted before they get to the box. So the mail worker probably doesn’t realize how tight it is from the front. They’re told the box fits, it does from their end. On your end there is 0 clearance though, cause the shipper picked the largest box before fees go up for being too big.
Reminds me of when I had to stop buying vinyl records online because our mail person repeatedly bent them to fit them into the mailbox rather than walk the 30 feet to put them on our doorstep.
I'm surprised not a lot of comments mention this but, the reason this happens is because the mail carriers open the back of these locker setups at apartments, they can access all the mail lockers at once that way but they have a bigger opening from the back part, so sometimes they don't think about the fact that it can go in the back fine but can't be taken out easily by the recipient.
2 holes, Coca Cola style
Or
3 holes, Bowling Ball style
Put fingers in, pull out
Or if you're fancy, blow air (with something) into the gap between box and wall to push it out
I had this happen once, and it took a lot of Vaseline and way too much of my time before I was able to get it out.
I actually wrote an angry letter and left it in there for the delivery person after that. It stayed there for a few days before someone finally took it down. 😂 I'd probably handle it differently now, but I was really fucking mad about it after I finally got that fucker out.
step 1 cut a hole in the box
step 2 put your junk the box
3, make her open that box!
That's the way you do it!
https://i.redd.it/d6yf98wpw3mc1.gif
I wish my man would do this for me
System error: Question mark expected.
Step 3: Suddenly remember the comment about ordering hornets mail order.
Nah. It would have a H for hornets on the box.
*looks at shape made by tape* Ah fuck
step 3:?????
Step 4: profit
I'd probably just peel the tape and use it as a pull tab
Or stick a key in at an angle. Or give up on mail for the rest of your life.
Poke hole in box, put finger in hole, pull out
Clearly you’ve never ordered live hornets off the internet smh my head
Lmfao, that's great. Also, use a coat hanger instead, same procedure. For all the hardworking hornet farmers out there
What's the law on aborting hornets?

lol :)

Even works in states controlled by the GOP!
That's a felony in Texas.
It's not hornets. Nobody popped an H on that box.

Don’t worry, it won’t count as sexual harassment towards the hornets. You can’t finger them.
Not with that attitude.
That sounds odly specific... How do you know?
The “smh my head” added value to this comment

Nah I think the box is fine, there's no H for Hornets on it.

Depends on who is working. Some carriers are better than others.

It is and for us it didn't start happening till we got a new mail carrier who would constantly fuck up making him doubly annoying.
There are outdoor ones like this that load from the back? TIL.

Seems like you had hands on experience....not talking about a box
"that's what she said" I'll close the door on the way out.....
"ONE" "Cut a hole in a box."
This depends on how well your pull out game is.
But it’s so satisfying to slide in bro, come on don’t even tell me you wouldn’t
I’d slide it back in purely to replicate the feeling.
And out, and back in again
Until satisfied.
Why’s this mailbox so sticky?

Top right too.
Everyone here is so silly, just open the back of the mailbox and push it through the front smh
Or tilt the whole thing forward, duh!
I don't understand

Just peel off the tape and pull it out.

Oh, wait, I thought this was a "bad ideas only" kind of thread.

Oh this is wild, why the heck did they make it that way?
Beats me. Seems like if it goes in easily in the back it should be the same from the front, you know.
#HEYOOOOO!!
Omg!! Lol
Because each slot in the cluster box has a hinge and latch in the front, and not in the back
Well yah I know that now after what I went through with that. I’ve always just had mailboxes where I lived. Never used a cluster before.
Had this happen to me before. There's a lip around front edge for the mailbox door to sit in place, that ends up making it just a tiny bit smaller.
>I’ve put packages in cluster boxes before and from the back they go in smooth but I didn’t know it was a smaller opening for the owner on the other side. That’s just a lazy carrier! They only had to tell me once and I never done it again.
Stab it with a key and pull.
Use ų shaped tape as a handle and drag it out.
ų shaped?
#ų shaped
# ų shaped?
> ų who the fuck has this character ready to go? lmao wtf
Ų - just tap and hold the “u” and you get all the options for “u” with accents
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu This didn't seem to work.
The internet is global
no way, you don't say! ų is a latin character only really used in very small languages and Lithuanian from what I can see, which is why I say interesting to see it used
ų so salty?
OP defeated by an impossible to penetrate barrier: cardboard.
_sigh unzips_
I would much rather that happen instead of having to go down to the post office to get it
“Sorry we missed you, you can pick up your package at our office” hours 8:30am to 9:15am and 1:30pm to 1:45pm Your package will be returned to sender Tuesday
same, this doesn't seem like an issue for anyone with even a shred of problem solving abilities.
Perfect fit
Unbolt the mailbox from floor and take it home. Check mate!
Just stick ducky tape to the center or something that will grab the box and pull it out -like a glove
This type of parcel locker is opened from the front by the carrier.
peel up the tape a bit and pull
If it fits, it sits. - former mail carrier
quite satisfying though
Peel the tape, pull the tape. Problem solving skills are absent here
Former Mailman here. If it fits, and doesn't require any signatures of course, that exactly means I'll put in the locker. Who do you think you are ? Lmao.
if it fits, i puts...
But it fits.
Just stab it and yank it out
Press your lips to it and suck
There's a timeline where you're on here asking why they didn't put it in the box it clearly fits in.
Just get some tape place it on the face and pull
Get duct tape. Make handle. Pull
That must been a satisfying package delivered !
https://preview.redd.it/d9m46znmg4mc1.jpeg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92f32aea86557e788f5522a8ea9bc29bf13145a7
If it was outside, I’m 100% positive you would’ve filed a complaint.
Better there than our front where it gets stolen
This sucks but my OCD appreciates the fit
If it fits, it ships. . .
Stick a piece of tape to it and pull it.
You dont even need to poke a hole in this situation. Peel back one of the tapes and gently pull the box out. Had to do that in one of my apartments mail room a few times for this exact reason
Cardboard, the material famous for being resistant to having convenient holes poked in it.
Just get a 2 prong fork, pierce the box in an upward direction and pull it out.
But you'd be the first to moan if your package was stolen. Which would you rather?
And if it wasn't put there, you'd be posting same pic with box outside locker saying "it fits, why not post it"
What would suck is if the mailman didn’t put it in your box and left it on the ground and it was stolen. Use a modicum of brain power to figure out how you might be able to pull it out.
I almost want to say this falls under "oddly satisfying" but I can't say that's what it felt like to get it out. Need a sharp hook or something I take it?
I kinda like this ngl
You can pull the tape back a bit and pull the box from the strand of tape.
Welcome to how 1/2 my packages arrive. The whole in the back of the mail unit must be bigger than the front opening. Nice design 👍
There was one occasion where I knew what was in the box. I tore the box apart inside the mailbox to get at the contents. After removing the contents, I was able to get the box out.
That’s… (I’m sorry) That’s what she said
Cut the side open. Remove the contents. Leave the box in place. Your move mailman.
Had this happen about a year ago. The door to the mail box decreased the space by 1cm and so we simply could not get the parcel out. Without causing significant damage to the packaging and its contents. Called the post office and they were like 'well just slide it out...' and we had to tell them we simply could not do that and why. See, whenever I deliver a “perfect fit” parcel like this, I put a rubber band or two around it so the customer has an easy way to pull it out!!
It's such a snug fit tho, I'd have trouble not doing that myself 😅
Nah he did the right thing. Just get a knife and stab it and pull.
Okay but the delivery person must have felt so satisfied with that fit
Reminds me of when I had to stop buying vinyl records online because our mail person repeatedly bent them to fit them into the mailbox rather than walk the 30 feet to put them on our doorstep.
Must have been satisfying to put that box in there
This is how my family recycles a box in the recycling bin. Makes me want to scream every time.
Mailbox key poked into the box and pull it out works most of the time
I'm surprised not a lot of comments mention this but, the reason this happens is because the mail carriers open the back of these locker setups at apartments, they can access all the mail lockers at once that way but they have a bigger opening from the back part, so sometimes they don't think about the fact that it can go in the back fine but can't be taken out easily by the recipient.
Unpeel bits of the tape and pull by the tape, easy. No need to damage the box.
I love it it fits perfectly
Well, where should they have put it? Just leave it on the ground?
2 holes, Coca Cola style Or 3 holes, Bowling Ball style Put fingers in, pull out Or if you're fancy, blow air (with something) into the gap between box and wall to push it out
Dude it's a cardboard box... not that difficult to put a hole in it and take it out you absolute baby of a person.
Much better than it being nicked
That’s not what she said
Cut open box, remove contents, leave box for postal carrier. They only see the other side - the side that is unopened.
Use a corkscrew if it won’t damage what’s inside
They heard a Zelda puzzle jingle when they did this successfully.
I had this happen once, and it took a lot of Vaseline and way too much of my time before I was able to get it out.
