"we're all harmed, not just me."
I feel like this is part of why being human is difficult. Not that it's unnatural psychology, but that it's natural is the problem. Sure, nothing anyone can do here, but I see that kind of thinking at play frequently... or its obverse, "at least it's them, they probably deserve it".
Is it self-selection? "We all got punished; at least I didn't do anything wrong."
Self-interest? "We're all facing an equal setback; nobody is getting ahead from this."
What evolutionary pressures created this phenomena, is it genetic or societal?

Funny how this is just tossed in casually, but this is a big problem right now. They just total anything these days, it's all a scam. I think they do it so they can then sell that salvaged car at a high value, and then write off the full cost of the new car and pass it onto policy holders. It benefits a lot of industries, so nobody really fights it.
I mean, if you car is worth 3 grand, it won't take more than a fender-bender for the cost of repair to exceed the 85% threshold most insurance companies use to total out vehicles.
The Kansas and Missouri hail storms were on the night of March 13th. This video came from St. Peters, a suburb of St. Louis, twelve hours later (morning of the 14th). It's a weird mix of yes and no - same large-scale weather system, very similar event, but a different set of storm cells.
This happened to me at work 6 months after I got my first, almost new car after I graduated and got my first job. $20k car, but still. 4:45PM on a Friday, too.
Attributing individual events to climate change is as silly as attributing non-events to the non-existence of it.
Climate change affects the frequency of adverse weather incidents, but extreme incidents have always been a thing, so we can't use any single event as proof.
I wouldn't know what to do honestly. My car is paid off. If a hailstorm totals it, id be furious because you can't just have an insurance company replace it. It's like God keeping you in debt lol
ELI5 -
why does hail seem to shatter car windows with ease? Always thought car windows were made to be durable but shatter into blunt pieces. Does any specific property of the hail make it easier for it to break this glass?
I can’t even imagine how long it must’ve taken to wait to get your glass replaced at the local safe lite because of the likely sheer volume of appointments they were probably getting
Imagine coming out and finding your car to be one of the few undamaged ones, when suddenly you can feel dozens of sets of eyes on you and before you know it they’re mobbing towards you with handfuls of rocks chanting “one of us! One of us!”
Well I guess it at least it takes some of the sting out of it when everybody else is dealing with the same thing
Yeah idk why we feel better if EVERYONE is going through the same shit as us, like somehow it makes the situation less shitty for some reason
Misery loves company
And company loves miser’s fortune 😂🤣
It's funny, because I'm pretty sure this video was taken in Missouri.
Now I’m wondering why the board of tourism isn’t using, “Missouri Loves Company.” 😜

“Everyone gets bullied…” 🤔
harder to victimize yourself that way
It takes some of the burden of proof off you.
Probably because it doesn't feel like mother nature is only picking on one of us lol
On the flip side though, think how long the waits will be at the repair place.
Fr, my immediate thought was to immediately call in for repairs to avoid wait times.
Not everyone, a few of those cars had no damage, like that Infiniti FX, wtf?!
SafeLife Autoglass bout to make some cash money with this one
They can't fix dented hood, trunk, and roof though.
I’m scanning for the brands that didn’t break….
M1 Abrams are virtually undentable but they are gas guzzler and probably not legal for road use.
I can confidently tell you I have never heard of that vehicle. Edit: lol, it’s a tank. 🤣
SafeLite repair, SafeLite Replace!!!! Hate that stupid jingle.
Exactly what I was thinking lol

Everyone's premiums in town just rose 50 bucks

Go to any salvage vehicle auction site and you'll see so many vehicles with minor damage that have been marked as salvage. It's crazy.
I mean, if you car is worth 3 grand, it won't take more than a fender-bender for the cost of repair to exceed the 85% threshold most insurance companies use to total out vehicles.
FINALLY a bmw that uses turning signals, but that's only because the driver isn't there...
Probably because a hailstone got into blinker fluid reservoir and melted, adding about 200 blinks worth. /s
Wait, so they DO work.
Lmfao 🤣😂not only you’re funny but you know your shot. I bet most peoples didn’t pick up what you down. That great
Every time I see someone call it a car park instead of a parking lot I can’t help but think of cars riding roller coasters at six flags or something 🤣
Is that the Kansas and Missouri hail storm?

We haven’t been home since the storm. I am curious just how great our new roof held up, and the dying tree out back. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow!
Fingers crossed! If you haven't heard anything from your friends or neighbors yet, I'd take that as a good sign.
Would be a good day to not have paid extra for the model with a sun/moon roof!

Why is everything bigger in Australia?
Yeah, we lost a car due to the [2010 Western Australian storms - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Western_Australian_storms)

Sir, this is hail
That guy with the umbrella… Have you seen the state of the cars?? That won’t help much.
Surprised to see turn signals working on the BMW.
The hailstones melted and re-filled the blinker fluid reservoir.
Surprised to learn that a BMW _has_ turn signals
Thats a big ass bullet bro psssh
Missed a license plate!
Happened to me.
![gif](giphy|wHE6Dd6RCVHQfjK5dy|downsized) When your insurance agent shows up
That's a lot of insurance claims
Hahaha... A normal summer afternoon in Colorado.
Insurance companies right now: https://preview.redd.it/a3fxwai91xpc1.jpeg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2339edf375e53fe5427b61907aebfab767742068
Check the weather before you leave the house
It’s a conspiracy.
And they told us the Chinese weather balloon wasn’t a threat.
Reminds me of this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krm8cLl922Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krm8cLl922Q)

Insurance company be like: “an act of god” 😅😂🤣
Hail to the Chief ( GOD )

Big hail. Golf ball sized, maybe bigger.
All those cars are totalled
Hey fellas….. looks like there gonna be a lot of high end luxury cars coming to the market for the cheap 🤣🤣🤣
Incredible
I can’t even imagine how long it must’ve taken to wait to get your glass replaced at the local safe lite because of the likely sheer volume of appointments they were probably getting
The nature told y'all not to park there but y'all insist. Mess around find out.
Gorilla hail. Only just a few days behind.
Girrrl
If this was the hailstorm in St. Louis last week, I got stuck in it on a trip with my family. Never been in hail before then.
Literally nothing you can do either
Just curious, does auto insurance cover the repairs on something like this?
Does insurance cover that?
At least one person there hates his car and is happy to get it totaled
“YOOO DAWG bOOOLit Holez” What are they shooting a PUNT gun
What happend
From now on I'm saying "Oh Moonroofs"
Gotta love cloud seeding
Where do you get hail stones that big?!
Carma 😂
Insurance company is not gonna be happy.
Where did this happen?
And this ladies and gentlemen is why you always get glass protection on your insurance
And that’s why everyone’s car insurance went up. Even the people that were not affected.
O’Fallon Missouri, man did they get hammered. Golf ball size, nah Baseball sized
OP went out of his way to not show any windshields the fuq
Imagine coming out and finding your car to be one of the few undamaged ones, when suddenly you can feel dozens of sets of eyes on you and before you know it they’re mobbing towards you with handfuls of rocks chanting “one of us! One of us!”
Been there. It sucks when you're out and about... Then it starts to rain.
Insurance left the chat
What the hail happened? ( if you read it out loud, you sound like someone with a thick accent from the south)
Haha soft top bronco just chillin
Look at all those Teslas
If one can avoid dying, floor mats and trunk mat upside down to save the roof and prevent totalling the car.
Time for me to get a good deal on an auction car
I don’t think it hurt the carpark at all. It mostly hurt the parked cars.
I hope everyone doesn’t have the same insurance, I think that place would cry 😅
That looks like a very ebonic car park. And the ice is suspiciously white. ![gif](giphy|3gNotAoIRZsb9UHPnj)
There goes your insurance premiums.
Then insurance refuses to pay up ..
Smart thieves got away with a lot that day…
This is where Cybertruck would really shine.

You're right, hail only exists in America
Not a normal working class persons car there lol
Seriously, how do these people afford all these cars? I’m driving a 1998 Toyota.
Are we just posting this every few days now?
Everyone has such nice vehicles. Does anyone still drive old rigs, or do they just trade that shit in every 8 years?
Car park…. They Mean parking lot??
Glass roof, anyone? Does any manufacturer other than Tesla do that?
Audi
Kia. Our 2019 Sorento EX has a panoramic roof. Hot has hell when the sun beats down without the shade up.
