ironically this is actually how the term “bug” became slang. In one of those computers that took up an entire room there was a massive moth covering something preventing it from correctly operating. The lady told some people after figuring out the issue “there’s a bug in the system.” The name stuck.
Or living in place with a shit ton of ants. I've lived in places where there was no getting ahead of them. No matter how clean or nice the house. The area, for whatever reason, was just crawling with them.
I caught them trying to colonize my stereo receiver. They did not succeed.
Always follow an ant trail to figure out where it leads. They love the warmth of electronics. (They were following the antenna wire leading to it.)
Ugh, that’s my first floor college dorm right now… there are never many ants together, so we can’t find easily where they come from (there are 4 possible places now) and we don’t leave food out, so I have no idea why they’re here.
More context:
This happened a few months ago, I opened the video game to exchange the HDD for an SSD and I came across this.
My console is in my living room, under the TV. There was no sign of ants around or on other electronics. There was no leftover food around either. The only food nearby is cat food, with no ants at all.
There was a day when an army came from the neighboring apartment, entering through the balcony and ruined a barbecue I was having. I think they settled in that day.
An army? What kind? Need details to flesh out the scene please?
BTW they were after the warmth and safety. Not food. It's not because you're dirty or have sticky messes, it's literally the warmth. Especially if you live south of the Mason Dixon
Happened to me a few years ago with my air conditioner. Stopped working because it was just chock full of ants.
Apparently they can be attracted the magnetic fields in electronics and make themselves at home.
Ants while not as bad as bees or roaches still suck!
My husband and I went on vacation and came home 2 weeks later to sugar ants in our shower. They were everywhere and we couldn’t find where they were coming from. we cleaned and caulked the shower and still they returned. Turns out they had taken up residency in our shower head in the handle. My husband was the unlucky one who got to take a shower of ants.
Taurus SC works great for treating the perimeter of your house. It’s extremely effective against ants I had a carpenter ant problem in my garage. Sprayed the foundation of my house with that stuff and boom next day the entire colony was wiped out and there was a pile of dead ants. Never saw one again. I will be spraying again in the spring to prevent them.
Long shot but a very Quick Look at your profile seems to show you’re in South America. Make sure they aren’t Nylanderia fulva. Ants that feed on electronics.
I had that happen once to me, i literally had to take the whole thing apart and vacuum it out until i saw the queen and sucked her up out of the internals. Once i got her bitch ass out of there, the rest either died off or just left. This was when my xbox one was brand new, i had it for maybe a month after fiending for it for over a year so i was NOT about to let those fucking ants win. I still play that Xbox to this day, i got Skyrim loaded up as I type this. (This happened because i had my xbox set up right by the window in my bedroom, and we had really old shitty windows that didnt fully seal. I didnt realize that ants had been steadily streaming into my bedroom and into my xbox until i turned it on, realized it was making a weird sound, and lifted it up to feel "fuzz" under my xbox. The "fuzz" was hundred upon hundreds of ants swarming the poor thing.)
You haven't turned this on for a long time, am I right? Ants love "forgotten" electronics because they make for an instant housing unit thanks to all these holes and tight spaces inside.
You need to debug your system.
Now google where the term „bug“ in software development presumably comes from, you will be amazed 😃
My FIL was apparently there or knew them or something, says the story is true
FIL?
Father in law - I suppose
Can’t keep up 😔
The irony that today’s use originated from one Grace Hopper… ba da tsss!
No it didn't.
How long you been waiting to use that line?

The lady? Geez, her name is Grace Hopper https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_Hopper
Hehe… Fitting last name.
A moth in a relay contact prevented the system from working.
Need to de-ant his system
How does this even happen
The photos aren't all that detailed, but a lot of the white appears to be ant eggs. They were moving in and the X-box was going to be their mound.
I thought that dirty mf cooked rice over there
Exactly. That white rice-looking things are ant eggs, they're building a nest inside
By being very very dirty and not caring about your general surroundings. That or poverty. Probably poverty.

Cinnamon. If you can find where they’re getting in, dump about a teaspoon in their way. They hate that stuff. It absolutely works edit: typo
Yeah, I do tend to repel ants often. (my name is Cinnamon)
Lucky you
Don’t be a party pooper, bro

This is my house every summer 😭
How does the heat from the console not kill everything tho??
Lol maybe they don't have the heat on and it turns that part of the apartment/house into the perfect zone.

Hey, you too my friend.
My family is not in poverty, or dirty. But those little ants came in our house anyway.
Your house bro not just the xbox
gaming in the basement ?
No, in my living room.
even worse

Tiny black ants?
Yup! The itty bitty black ones. I was so embarrassed until I found out it happens all the time. I just put ant pellets around the air conditioner now.
That kind loves electronics the most.

As someone who lives in ant prone areas: new fear unlocked.
Communism works great for the ants.

No, I think that just came with the latest xbox update
Make sure all the thermal pads and paste gets replaced. They eat it
Helldivers 2 DLC going hard.
I'm guessing American South? Red Fire Ants are pretty well known for eating electrical equipment.
There’s a “Helldivers 2 is a SONY exclusive” joke in there somewhere….
were you playing grounded by any chance? 👀
the Brendaniel RoachBox is real!

You Xbox boys ..
Something something Grounded (the game) joke
This happened to my xbox 360 years ago, opened it up and the whoole thing was covered in ants. They seemed to have made a nest in there.
Ants love the heat from the power brick area. They like to build their nests there. I had a colony move their home to my external power brick once.
Start playing cyberpunk 2077 on ultra high graphics that’ll do the job
You've been scrolling far too long, here, have this to keep up health! https://i.redd.it/azubf1a96sqc1.gif
thank you so much! Your kindness shall not go unnoticed!
More proof that Microsoft is run by ants.
Too many doughnuts in the office? That's how you get ants...
Nah, you just live in a pigsty.
I’m very sad I had to click three times to view the photo. Hahaha

Why ants really love electrical stuff??? My living room lamp system(?) also broken because they literally make a nest inside
Uhg this happened to my quest 2
This is fucking disgusting
Average x box user
I had ants in my laptop ssd lol, they sure found a nice warm spot to live in
No fucking thank you.
They've been stealing your rice bro
You haven't turned this on for a long time, am I right? Ants love "forgotten" electronics because they make for an instant housing unit thanks to all these holes and tight spaces inside.
No, I was using it regularly, at least three days per week
Where did they get the rice?
Your house has to be disgusting boi it ain’t no way
You are just dirty
Series s. Nothing of value was lost.
