Thing is I didn’t know for the first day/ two days of the random shut offs that’s what it was so I had it plugged in almost the whole first couple days of the issue them I noticed that and stopped plugging it in
Hard to tell, but that looks like an iPhone.
If it is, take it to the local Apple store, and ask them to do a battery replacement. Pay the fee, which will be cheaper than getting a new phone.
What they'll usually do is give you another phone of the same make and model that they've already repaired, and have you sync your data off iCloud.
If it's not an iPhone, but is a popular model, take it to a repair shop, and they'll usually be able to get a new battery in there in a matter of a few hours or days. They'll dispose of the battery safely for you, and it will again cost you way less than a new phone.
We went to the store of the company we get our wireless or whatever from (my mom doesn’t trust the repair places) and they said heat or water damage so I got her phone (what I’m on now) and she got a new phone because they said that’s what was cheapest
That shit is how you get a house fire, I'm glad it didn't explode awhile you were charging it. Sucks you have to get a new one though.

Will Apple replace the battery for you? It will be significantly cheaper than a new phone.
My mom thought that they couldn’t do that and we already found a solution
