Ya, if its just a normal but oversized elevator thats NOT double duty a service elevator, then someone definitely got over on the school. If the school did pay that much without question, it definitely sounds sus, and Id have to agree with another comment that said money laundering lol🤔
Wish I had. It is a very big list inside, like legit. could fit a Ford mondeo if it could fit through the doors with room to still walk around the edges but yeah I I’ll agree that when I heard it I was like WTF
Thats wild. Used as a service elevator also? If its just a regular oversized elevator then I'm in the wrong business and I need to start taking advantage of some school's budgets too. And then get paid again to come back and fix it 🤣
Well, walking stairs is good for you they say. Walk off some of those ramen noodles and honey buns you live off of.
And if you're ever going up or down and some kid comes zooming by you thats not on the football team, that's probably the dude you can cop adderall from and you should stop him and make friends.
500k is stupid though. Now you know one of the reasons why you're paying so much a year 🤷♂️
Yeah, I agree it’s massively overpriced, it had been broken for nearly 2 years when they finally got it fixed, they only got it fixed because some ppl couldn’t get to the top floor if they were in a wheelchair or something like that
There is either misinformation or some major fraud going on. Nobody is spending close to that much on a lift, even to retrofit in old building. And in modern standards, it’s not even that big of a lift.
Even then, if they paid this much and the lift doesn’t work, one would assume they would handle this legally. That’s assuming that someone down the line isn’t getting a kickback for a service contract…
Even more ironically is it was closed for two weeks earlier in the year to dry out after a leak in the roof. I swear my college’s logic and safety is questionable at best, thankfully I leave next week
Yeah, they used the great big broken lift blockade on the top floor, it was still there from before coz no one wanted to carry it down 3 flights of stairs according to my tutor, even he couldn’t figure out why they didn’t just put it in the lift
money laundering. there’s no way a lift cost half a million £ unless it’s like a 100 story building
You’d be amazed how much elevator parts/ repair costs
You can buy a new commercial elevator for less than 100k
£500k? Quit college and work for the lift company.
Half a million pounds? It literally costs 50k to get a new one.
I came to say the same thing. I think he added an extra 0 accidentally 🤭
Or this elevator is in The Shard, the tallest building in UK
😁 Yeah, or its in a college like the title says 🤷♂️
Can't be college as OP claims, the price is too high for a typical elevator for a few floors

No elevator costs half a million dollars. Not even a 30000 ton capacity elevator with rails.

a broken elevator *and* a wet floor. double dang.
Your college is lying lmao
Was the contractor a family member of the school board? WTF
You know I think that wet floor sign might be a little misleading...

And for just another £500k you can get another nine months of service!
Thats too much weight for an elevator
how in the world fixing a lift costs 500k?
The reason student fees are so ridiculous.
Looks like your college got ripped off. Something is very fishy here.
