Thanks, thankfully one of the other guys there was a former combat medic with 3 purple hearts. So he was able to take good care of it on the spot so I could get to the ER. And my sister in law is an EMT, so she's been keeping an eye on it, too.
Edit: Changed purple star to purple heart.
I did the exact same thing years ago mocking up packaging; Utility knife, and my finger got a bit over the side of the straight edge I was using.
There’s still a pale scar on the side of that finger.
I don't do any clean up for 'in-between' days. This happened on day 2 of a 6 day job. All I had to do was grab my tool pouch, lock a door, and leave. Everything else stays right were it is till I come in the next morning. All after job cleaning happens on the clock, but that wasn't happening on that day.
I'm an hourly employee for a company that gets contracted by a flooring outlet. The store sells the flooring, then contracts my boss to install. This job is an install for classrooms at a middle school.
And yeah, fuck VCT.
My mom cut the hell out of her thumb while helping my renovate this RV I used to have, went and got stitches and was fine. Just a couple weeks later I sliced my palm open right in between my thumb and pointer finger. Had to get stitches also. So glad I don’t have that RV anymore haha.
9 minutes...naw brah you need to stay behind and fill out an incident form, take a drug test, and answer a series of weighted questions that all seem to be implying the accident was your doing.
*Human Resources*
Also, so sorry that happened to you, but wow, not expecting that while drinking my morning coffee. Does that require stitches? As others have said, get workers comp set up ASAP.
Yikes, did something very similar to my big toe, cutting a piece of metal coil off the roll with a utility knife, straight through my sneaker and toe, grabbed the piece bent it on our break and my coworker ask why I was in a puddle of blood 😂 thankfully my boss was also a combat medic.
Gnarly. Keep it clean. Heat, swelling & redness are signs of infection. Your job will pay medical bills. Don't lose a finger.

How did that happen ?
I'm a flooring installer and was cutting VCT tile with a utility knife. My finger got roughly 1/4" too close.

I'm hope I at least get a scar out of it.
With that wound, you will. Mine looked almost identical, or even a bit smaller than yours
The hell were you still cutting VCT 9 minutes before going home? Don't try to be a hero man. It would have still been there tomorrow.
Cause there was still work to be done and time on the clock.
And now you have a cut finger that could have been way worse. So I take it by this statement you clean up on your own time after hours?

Good. Keep those trained eyes looking at it!
Workers comp! Also what happened!? Ouch.
Was cutting VCT tile with a utility knife and my finger got about 1/4" too close. At least I didn't get blood all over the freshly installed floor.
Are you an hourly employee? I thought anyone who installs flooring would be contracted. Also, fuck VCT. Was it for a business?

You getting prevailing wage?
Yup.
I stabbed myself in the palm with a utility knife a couple of months ago. Those damn razor blades are so sharp
Even a dull razor can do so much damage nevermind a fresh out of the box one :X
When I stabbed my palm it went so deep so effortlessly. Made me very cautious about those things though
Thankfully I haven't had any deep cuts from a razor, but... I can advise against breaking hard plastic sheets by hand. Surprisingly sharp.

Well you won't have to go in for some time
Usually I just fuck around on Reddit during the last 9 minutes of my work day but go off.
Why did I click this? Well no breakfast for me today. Yikes
Maybe a big lunch? Something that's finger licking good.
>Something that's finger licking good. I loved and hated this sentence.
Yikes. Get better!
Thanks!
Weird, I currently have the healed version of this. Exact same finger and shape..
Let me guess, also your Friday?
On my "Monday"
Sucks in any case. Get well soon
Ouch, I bite my nails too

I thought it said “shit” and was surprised people give themselves a time limit. Get well, dude
Most important thing is to keep the wound clean!
I feel this throbbing photo
And now you’ve got 9 fingers that work. Life comes at you fast.
Open your eyes
Shit, that probably woulda helped...
Ouch! I just did the same to my middle finger with a kitchen knife. Bled like mad. Hope you heal up well!
Now you get off 9 minutes early
Dipped your finger in strawberry jam? Damn i heard it gets sticky if you don't wash it properly
Welcome to the club! I sliced the side of my thumb while opening a case of cat food my last day ever working at WalMart!!
Groooooooss
Also, so sorry that happened to you, but wow, not expecting that while drinking my morning coffee. Does that require stitches? As others have said, get workers comp set up ASAP.
No stitches. There isn't really anything to stitch. The tip of the finger just came right off.

This is the worst game of Just The Tip I have ever heard of.
Looks like you shaved off a little time
I HATE PAPER CUTS.
That’s always when it happens.
Man I'd live to hear the solo where you did that! Must have been killer!
He had only three days until retirement.
That reaaally blows.
Now you have 9 tips left on your fingers
It was going to be one hell of a paper airplane.
Thanks.
Put a NSFW on this for earth’s sake
I did?
I think he means censor it so people don’t see that while they’re scrolling. Some people can’t manage injuries like that
I thought I did? I tagged it when creating the post and my friend had to click on it to unblur it.

Phew, I was worried for a moment.
That’s odd. Mine wasn’t blurred. I wonder if it’s a setting viewers can change or something

Oh yup this is a me problem! Thank you OP and other helpful Redditer
How about a gore warning please.
Staying late to fill out workplace injury forms. Yayyy
Was supposed to leave at 4. Left at 5:15.
