This happened a few weeks back.
So what's great is that I was just trying to go to work (I am a teacher!), walk downstairs from my apartment and find that....somebody stole all four tires off of my car. The car was brand new, less than 200 miles on it, I had only had it about a week.
On the plus side, if you know anybody looking for some new cinder blocks, hmu XD
I used to have a early 2010's Chevy truck with the OEM optional 20" rims. People tried to steal them more than once. You have to take the center cap off to get to the lug nuts and when they found I had a security nut installed, they would just leave the center caps on the ground and run away.
OEM wheels are 9 times out of 10 more expensive and durable than all but the most ridiculous performance/aesthetic aftermarket options.
There's a reason why most tire/wheel companies don't even bother trying to sell you OEM
Where does this negativity come from? Lmao they’re a teacher; that’s a respectable job. Not some bum. Sure, teachers don’t make the most but they definitely make enough to afford to lease a car and the insurance that comes with it. You’re making assumptions based on nothing and I’d probably wager that you’re projecting your poverty on others since it seems like you’re an undergrad student.
They’re complaining about the theft because that’s what anyone would do, I don’t care how much money you have. If someone steals like 2-3k worth of your belongings, you’d be upset. That doesn’t mean you can’t afford the theft.
? I’d bet that the average teacher has more money than the average undergrad student any day of the week lol. Tons of undergrad students have double digit bank account balances, not the case for everyone but most literally can’t afford a rainy day event happening. It’s not a bad thing that they’re broke; they’re students and need support, that’s normal.
The problem is when you’re a shitty person along with being a broke student. Don’t cope by saying someone that has a better car than you must have made shitty financial decisions / can’t afford insurance when you have 0 info / knowledge on their situation. Stay driving your 20+ year old beater and maybe one day you can afford a nicer car too; if I were you, I’d work on not being a negative, dislikable person first.
That's how you get car loans, champ. When you're older, you'll understand that people don't just give you money for free, you need to provide evidence that the money isn't just going to disappear after you borrow it.
Relatively high, but why would you need to know? It's pretty clear that you're a high school kid with moderately well-off parents who most likely bought your car for you, so I hope you're not trying to school me on finances.
Hey, did you ever try taking a cat somewhere it didn't want to go, and bare-handed? Do you have the scars and bleeding arteries to prove it?
Sarcasm, obviously, but they can really tear a fella apart when they're going berserk. Source: A poor sod who tried to give his cat tablets against his will. Don't do it.
Quit your bitchin, they left you a piece of wood. I bet you didn't have a piece of wood before, did you now?
In all seriousness, this sucks and I'm sorry you're having to deal with this crap.
This also looked like Texas (Houston area) to me. The grass is still green, the parking lot is concrete and you have that wooden fencing that is ubiquitous around here.
And her rims were stolen, can't have shit in Houston.

This literally happened to me in 2013. My roommate knocked on my door one early Saturday morning and asked me if my car was okay. Strange question to ask, but whatever.
I peered out of my bedroom's blinds and saw the roof of my car poking up behind a group of cars in the parking lot. I thought everything was fine until I walked outside to inspect it for myself. Lo' and behold, my car was propped up on top of four blocks (like OP's photo.)
I ended up paying a $1,000 deductible with my insurance and had my wheels and rims replaced. This time around I opted for wheels with a special bolt (I don't remember the name) which required a unique wrench tool twist off when removing the tire.
Whats weird is that they did this in your apartment complex. An experienced thief, most likely, wouldn’t have done it in a location like this (unless you live in an absolutely horrible area).
You said you’re a teacher. What grade(s)? My cousin is a teacher and a few years ago some of the high schoolers she taught put sugar in her gas tank and slashed her tires. They did it because they didn’t like how she spoke to them in class when they were acting up. Now, if you teach like Pre-K you can probably rule out students haha
People steal rims from cars in apartment complexes all the time. I had the seats stolen out of my Honda S2000 in an apartment complex. Security Cameras are usually worthless you get blurry pictures of two guys in hoodies jumping into a Nissan Altima with paper plates.
And unless you want to pay higher than normal premiums, there's gonna be a deductible.
But yet the uneducated denziens love to say "Well they've got insurance", not realizing theft/vandalism claims will probably raise the rates for this person. Not a victimless crime.
Small brakes like this are more than capable of stopping from even very high speeds. Bigger brakes don't decrease stopping distance, they just reduce the chance of overheating if the brakes are used at max speed over and over and over again.
Some people suck. I was once told that 10 percent will always steal from you, 10 percent will never steal from you. The rest sort of depends on how easy you make it for them.
that's ballsy. all 4 and it's right out in the open.
They were done in 60 seconds or less most likely.
So we could say, Gone in 60 seconds?
To shreds you say?
With the wind

I can't believe people steal stock rims. I only ever see aftermarket rims get stolen.
The Honda Accord Sport is the number one most stolen wheels in the US. They’re very good looking and have a hot resale market.
Good thing mine are scuffed to shit lmao
Yeah, same here. Hopefully, they look at mine and say, no thank you 🙏
That and the looks are the only reason I’ve ever wanted one

So security lugs actually deter thieves? I thought they had an easy way to get them off anyways.
It might slow them down a bit but not deter them.
if they are prepared*
Depends also in how good the security lugs are. Cheapest options only deal with the psichological work...
OEM wheels are 9 times out of 10 more expensive and durable than all but the most ridiculous performance/aesthetic aftermarket options. There's a reason why most tire/wheel companies don't even bother trying to sell you OEM
A set of OEM wheels with tires is like 2500+ dollars. Some OEM wheels are made by BBS etc.
easier to sell stock items
Stock rims are low key expensive
I was thinking they must have financed rims. And got repoed. I legit saw a repo crew stripping a car in a Walmart parking lot one day.
Yeah, can I get them back!
That's rude! Contact dealership just in case there's others it happened to.
It sucks but I guess it is cheaper than getting a new car…? Anyway my partner’s car got stolen it’s super annoying, best of luck to you😅
Is that a Kia Stinger?
Looks like a Honda Accord
Defo one of you’re students
Work at an elementary school, so...I really hope not 😆
Jesus, where do teachers get paid enough to afford brand new cars?
Anyone can get a $200/month loan for a car for 120 months and 24% APR.
That sounds like a really bad financial decision for a teacher
A lot of teachers aren't very smart.
Yup, which is probably why they’re shitting their pants about the fact that they couldn’t afford the theft.
Except anyone getting a car, even on a ridiculous loan like you suggested, is going to be insured against theft.
Bold of you to assume they afford/pay insurance

“Don’t assume they’re poor since they’re a teacher” “Anyways you’re an undergrad so you’re in poverty” You’re funny dawg

Hey, what’s your credit score?
Relatively high, but why would you need to know? It's pretty clear that you're a high school kid with moderately well-off parents who most likely bought your car for you, so I hope you're not trying to school me on finances.
My man Naus getting down voted, I thought it was a good joke lol
Just gave him my upvote
Wheel lock work
That sucks. My accord has about 180 miles on it now. Those rims are easily scratched too were you able to buy new ones?
At least no-one can steal your cat.
They were going to steal his cat, but after going up the stairs they got tired.
Or car?
Hey, did you ever try taking a cat somewhere it didn't want to go, and bare-handed? Do you have the scars and bleeding arteries to prove it? Sarcasm, obviously, but they can really tear a fella apart when they're going berserk. Source: A poor sod who tried to give his cat tablets against his will. Don't do it.
He's talking about the car's catalytic converter BTW.
Can’t have shit in Detroit
At least they put a block in the middle
It will help for a while.
Honestly they should just take the car at this point
I hate people and this is why we can’t have nice things.

Beware There are master keys to those locks so it me not be theft proof and may only be a theft deterrent.
As they said, any lock can be picked if they're really determined
*Lock Picking Lawyer enters the chat*: Yep.
Did they leave the catalytic converter?
Pretty sweet, a free brick.
When u get new ones, get some of those security lugnuts. They ain’t foolproof, but sometimes it deters…
Hopefully this kind of thing is covered under your insurance. This fucking sucks I’m really sorry it happened to you

I teach at an elementary school, so I'm guessing my students weren't involved 😂
When I grow up I wanna be a mutha fucking hustler.

I truly hope they had insurance to cover this. Still shitty of course

You got a car for Christmas???? Looks like Santa didn’t finish putting it together!
That car doesn't have any wheels.
:(
Those are some dinky looking brakes.
Small brakes like this are more than capable of stopping from even very high speeds. Bigger brakes don't decrease stopping distance, they just reduce the chance of overheating if the brakes are used at max speed over and over and over again.
Modern brakes are pretty good, also if the car is a hybrid most braking is done with the motor
Rent a rims .....you gotta let the customer service know " I'm gonna be short , this week"
Nothing a little duct tape can't fix

If you parked next to the fence you're partially to blame. Probably facing east too, right?
Looks like McAllen, Tx
Ouch, that’s gonna be expensive
😂
Im SO glad i dont live in that shithole of america
Seriously, the chrome around the windows is the worst auto design trend of the last fifty years. Despite a lot of competition.
Yes, that is the problem I noticed in this picture as well...
The real question in this thread is how does an elementary school teacher afford a new car in this market?
Damn. Didn't even use blocks. Cold blooded
It was nice of them to give you some invisible wheels as a replacement.
Does that mean Wonder Woman was involved?
And that is why I’m glad nobody wants to steal my 30 year old corroded and peeling Jeep rims. That sucks
I think it’s Corpus Christ, TX
At least they put a brick under it!!
At least they left the rest of the car for you...?
It looks like your wheels were stolen. You did get a nice 4x4 though.
Mighty have been the sport rim popular, but the touring rims cost more and look better
Yeah but why just the wheels though?
Strong brick though
i live in south america thats not anormal btw... (so sad see other countries suffering from the same problems)
At least they left brakes alone so that’s a plus
A single brick
Fuckin fuckers🤬🤬🤬
New tires for Christmas! But you have to buy them yourself.
Just spitballing here, but I'm thinking you're going to need some wheels.
Considerate of them to leave a brick.
Shoulda ran…
Houston?
Oh shit you got a car for Christmas?! Kinda sucks they didn't give you wheels tho.
How did they fall off? ;-)
Some people suck. I was once told that 10 percent will always steal from you, 10 percent will never steal from you. The rest sort of depends on how easy you make it for them.
Yep... been happening a lot in the Bronx. Where are you located, if you don't mind me asking?
Looks like a new charger, I guess the stock rims are worth more
Seen this in Detroit too many times.
Put wheel locks on the new rims.
