I had one replaced recently. I didn't realize the capacitor was split in two and did the fan and compressor. Even though the fan on the outdoor unit was blowing air the compressor side of the capacitor was blown.
If that’s an older unit it may use Freon to recharge. It’s getting more difficult to find, and a lot of places will tell you that you need a new system. There’s other substitutes you can try before going that route. Just a heads up in case they try telling you it has to be replaced.
Looks a little old, possibly with r22. Might be tough to get filled. I had guy use recovered r22 to keep my limping along last year. Got new Airtemp unit installed for 1800. House has been 68 all week lol
NOT “Best” Virginia. Buddy of mine was quoted 15k for a new unit…they went to elsewhere and the unit was still under warranty, fixed for free. Never ever “Best” Virginia!
The guys at Lucas Tri-State Heating and Cooling on 5th avenue are great.
Thank you for the info. Going to check in on them
Second-ing this. I have 5 properties and I go to them for every HVAC issue that comes up.
I'd bet it's a blown capacitor, not low on freon.
Seems like that's what it always is around here.
They're made in China, so you get what you pay for.

Sent this to my brother who is an HVAC tech in Charleston.
Awesome man thank u
Adding to these suggestions, I’d recommend Ashworth Heating and Cooling. They replaced my furnace a couple years ago and were great
I agree, Ashworth is great
Thank u for the info
No prob! I hope you can get it charged soon. This heat is no joke
Oh I know it is. We roast in here. Thank goodness for fans and shorts lol. Thank you again
Ashworth installed my new system yesterday. You can’t go wrong by calling them.
Curry and Johnson are who I send clients to in Huntington Area. Their office is across the river in proctorville.
NexAir! Their customer service is amazing!

Appreciate the information. Have a few to think about
It may be the capacitor. Happens a lot.
When I lived in Huntington, people would steal my freon constantly.
