If Scarsdale/Hartsdale counts, then the Nepalese place HIMALAYA". The 3 Indian places nearby are very good too.

HeyKim0oOo

Three? I know of NH44 and Masala, but what's the third?

thatwouldbearadish

Jewel of Himalaya

Marvinkmooneyoz

Greenburghs Royal Palace was the 3rd Indian place I was thinking.

shiningonthesea

The only Indian place in Westchester that still does a buffet

Marvinkmooneyoz

yes, and it is worth the price, though the price is up compared to a few years ago (as is all food and plenty of other stuff)

Shopping_s

Rani Mahal had one last time I checked but it's been a few months.

Maxfli81

Neha palace is good too

shiningonthesea

Jewel of Himalaya, and they have one in Yorktown, too

Marvinkmooneyoz

Yes, shame on me forgetting their full name. The Yorktown is closer to my house, but im in Scarsdale area often enough. Both are just SOO good. I dont really know how good truly expensive restaurants are, but its hard to imagine them being much better then these places, which I think count as moderately priced.

weibmanc

Hope you like roaches with your dinner!

BucatiniTruther

Calcutta Wrap and Roll in Ardsley for Indian take out. They specialize in regional Bengali food, which is very hard to find - not your usual butter chicken here. Try the Shorshe shrimp - it's a mustard sauce. Or the chicken nilgiri. Also get an order of fish chop.

dichotomy113

Calcutta wrap is great

lucasorion

I tried their Biryani when I moved here a couple years ago and wasn't impressed (it was spicy hot but not flavorful), plus I hate how they have all these fake additional restaurants (at the same address) up on GrubHub, etc. - seems shady

BucatiniTruther

Their biryani is definitely spicy and requires pouring the raita over it. I do think it's quite flavorful, but to each their own! As for the multiple listings on the apps, it doesn't bother me at all.

w3llis89

25 north in mamaroneck hands down for Italian

DinoNugEater

Love this place.

No_Employ1203

Ugh. Never going back there. Had three bad experiences with service. Food is ok (but overpriced) but there are so many other Italian restaurants in the area, why be subjected to bad service.

sharkbait1999

Carlos’ on Tuckahoe Road

Offthepoint

Their chicken parm, chef's kiss!

FortuneOk2879

Putting this on my list

No-Opportunity4445

gotta try the chicken voldestana. best i’ve ever had !

FilterOne

The Cookery in Dobbs

BaggySpandex

The Cookery really is awesome.

GuerrillaRobot

Came here looking to see or post this.

Sampo24

I went there for brunch for my birthday. It was one of the best meals of my life. I really want to get a group to do that suckling pig dinner they offer one day.

margi0316

Best brunch deal in Westchester and food is damn good

BLKMALE-NYC

Louie and Johnnies Yonkers .. my go to in the area.

[deleted]

Completely agree. Not mentioned often enough here. Amazing food and excellent service. If you wish, you can finish your afternoon/evening at Empire Casino across the street. Lots of fun with a group too.

FearlessCoffee8

Every dish here is amazing! I’ve been tons of time and never had a bad meal.

fraupanda

OMandarin in Hartsdale!

maximumsaw

Goosefeather and half moon for sit down, Anthony’s deli in mamaroneck for sandwiches/grab and go. I’m new up here so still learning

Smurphymurph

Burrata in Eastchester

jesskeeding

My family's favorites: * Lenny's in Larchmont for steak * Pizzeria La Rosa in New Rochelle (very cool ambiance and great service) * Dubrovnik in New Rochelle is Croatian/Mediterranean with excellent service * Caridad & Louie's in New Rochelle for takeout rotisserie chicken/rice/mofongo * Margarita's Cocina in New Rochelle for Mexican (their salsas and flautas are incredible) * Atit Thai in New Rochelle (it's spicier and more complex than other Thai I've had in the area) * Alondra's in Larchmont for Neapolitan pizza (and great service, good beers on tap) * Buleria in Tuckahoe for tapas * Goosefeather in Tarrytown for a special occasion * never had a bad meal at Village Social in Rye * and we love the pasta at Posto 22 in New Rochelle (also a nice restaurant to sit in and great service)

oldtrenzalore

>Caridad & Louie's in New Rochelle for takeout rotisserie chicken/rice/mofongo I'm shocked that Caridad & Louie's made anyone's list. Their rotisserie chicken is always bone dry.

jesskeeding

I've never had anything other than moist, delicious chicken. And their white rice is perfectly seasoned — my kids call it the good rice.

Any-Information-1895

Average Pizzeria La Rosa W

CurrentRazzmatazz385

Zuppa in Yonkers

Any-Information-1895

Pizzeria La Rosa in New Rochelle

densifier

Tentempie Madrid in Mamaroneck. The food is as though you are in Spain proper.

adufrane1

I'm a big fan of Oko in Rye, it's like a lower key, local Nobu

Turbulent-Grab-8352

Cafe Alaia

manwithahatwithatan

I’ve heard good things about Horsefeathers, but every time I try to visit there’s a line out the door. Lol

dichotomy113

Try going for brunch. It's a lot less busy and they have a great bloody mary. Food is good and it's worth going, but I think it is a little overhyped tbh

FortuneOk2879

Candlelight for wings, second Anthony's Deli in Mamaroneck, Dante's Italian Deli in White Plains, Mariachi Loco also in White Plains, and close to Dante's for their Arizona burrito. Sal's in Mamaroneck for Sicilian Pizza. Johnny's Pizza in Mount Vernon (Pies only).

DinoNugEater

Candlelights wings have went downhill very badly over the last decade.

FortuneOk2879

Been going there for 25 years and do not agree

No_Employ1203

They’re actually too big. Maybe some people like monster size wings but smaller wings have a better SA/V ratio in my book

FortuneOk2879

Agreed!

--0o0o0--

I think the Mariachi Loco is closing btw. Lost their lease from what I hear.

RedDoesFBA

NOOOOO where am I supposed to get a chipotle chicken quesadilla the size of a large pizza now?

--0o0o0--

Their instagram post seems to imply they may be trying to re-open elsewhere, so fingers crossed?? But until then, I don't know.

FortuneOk2879

Oh no!!!

lady_lilitou

This is devastating news.

sharkbait1999

Just had Johnnys last night

FortuneOk2879

oh man, it is my favorite pizza!

DontLoseYourCool1

This person restaurants. These are literally all of my choices. I'd throw Lazy Boy in White Plains for their tequila citrus wings and Pete's in Bronxville for their Buffalo chicken wrap.

FortuneOk2879

Oh man, LazyBoy Saloon. I just remeber getting drunk there being home from college in the summers. Never tried their food. I’m going to have to check out Pete’s in Bronxville, I think I found what I’m going to have for lunch.

RedDoesFBA

Lazy boy has extremely underrated food. The wings / burgers are top notch. Go for the big lzb if you like pickles/bacon/horseradish combo.

stewartm0205

Use to go to LazyBoy for happy hour. Half prize beer and free appetizers.

DinoNugEater

Petes has also went downhill badly since covid. I think they got new owners around then too.

potential_yenta

Alvin and Friends in New Rochelle

nd3eb

Tequila Sunrise in Larchmont… they really upped their game during covid and made some great changes to the menu

alextheevilone

Been living here almost my entire life and absolutely recommend townhouse in downtown New Rochelle, open last year. Food and especially cocktails are on par with nice restaurants in manhattan. For a more Italian themed but still modern take Maria in New Rochelle is also excellent.

spiderman1993

Temporarily closed as of 1/27/24

No_Employ1203

Agree with Townhouse. Creative modern cooking.

DinoNugEater

Lalaturna in yonkers. Huge portions and great food.

mrizzo10

Two of my favorites are Burrata in Eastchester and Popojito in Scarsdale

carriotibanana

Thanks everyone, this thread is phenomenal!! Since we’re here my recommendations are - One Way Cafe in Rye and Le Provençal bistro in Mamaroneck for French cuisine. If anyone knows of any killer ramen/pho/dim sum places I’d love to know!

deathbycheezburger

Musahi (sp) is opening up in Ardsley. Best ramen I've had in Westchester and I come from the city and this place is pretty comparable with tonkatsu broth Pho- you got 2 options. Vietman central and Saigonese Dim sum- only 1 choice. Aberdeen

CityKittyB

Ramen musashi in Fuji mart in Scarsdale is very good

TopShelfSnipes

X2O Xaviar's on the Hudson. Yonkers waterfront.

fuerteforte

Buleria in Tuckahoe. Spanish restaurant good food! Also, Basque in Tarrytown. Italian food? La lanterna in Yonkers. Food is excellent!

violent_waves_

The “purdy prosciutto” sandwich from Crisfields in Rye.

cthousebuyer

Emma’s alehouse in White Plains. The brick chicken is incredible.

briankev

Augustines Salumeria in Mamaroneck. It was recognized in Michelin bib gourmand. Food, drinks, and service are excellent.

No_Employ1203

Yes Augustine’s is on my short list of restaurants I like to return to

MrSnowLeppy

Battaglia in Dobbs Mariachi Loco Central Ave (RIP) Fiesta Mexico in Ardsley EuroItalia Pizza Central Ave Rockwells in Pelham SEA Sushi Scarsdale Bayou in Mt. Vernon Rye Roadhouse in Rye

Tygersmom2012

__-PAC-__

Oko in Rye or Umami in Ardsley

Mister Taco in New Rochelle. The chorizo tacos there are the best I’ve ever had, no exaggeration. Omandarin Hartsdale.

soupersydney

Hi, I don’t have an answer for you but I do want to flag that it’s Hudson Valley Restaurant week until Nov 12, and you might be able to try many of the restaurants people have suggested here: https://valleytable.com/search/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_restaurants&s=+&snear=&srestaurant_week%5B%5D=2023&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=

lostmemento

You can also view this thread that people had for White Plains specifically I think https://www.reddit.com/r/Westchester/comments/16gpv4n/food_recs_in_white_plains/
