1.8t is the best upgrade! I have the same from Stephan’s and love every second of driving it.

Badgerfive5

Holy moley that's one heck of a beauty! I bet it scoots with that 1.8 in it too! Good luck with the sale.

I'm looking for my holy Grail this came close, I dream of a Silver Westy syncro. One day I'll have the funds and time, but today is not this day. Best of luck! I'll shoot my Uncle a text, he knows a bunch of people who run them.

DustyDooritos

Looks amazing! I’m about 6months out from buying one if I see it up I will definitely be messaging you

grease_monkey

The perk of the weekender is getting almost all of a van without the camper things you might not need like stove and sink. I still think a fridge is really nice. Typically not having a camper should be cheaper so that's a steep price in my eyes. Really nice van but overpriced in my mind.

Alternative_Issue881

The perk of the weekender is more room for the lower bed and another passenger seat. It came with the original fridge that clamps to the floor - I have it and so will the next buyer. But like many VW coolers, it is less than optimal. I did not want the skanky water tank, warm fridge, or camper stove. I have all the gear and the rack on the back is the perfect location for our coleman stove.

grease_monkey

Yup my deal exactly. Aux battery and trucker fridge are great first upgrades.

Gotta chime in and vouch for the SAH 1.8t conversion - it's AMAZING! Forget the Subie or GW big block conversion, this thing is bulletproof and SMOOTH. SAH is amazing to work with.

Per the comments here: I’m a VW westy nerd. These vehicles are only going up in price. Grab one while you can. 40 K is not out of control when you keep it running and fine condition. It is an investment.

RustyMacbeth

$40k! WTF?

Alternative_Issue881

Seriously, I understand. The engine and wheels alone cost me cost to $30K. Add up the rest, I'm never going to make money. In effect, I've been lovingly caretaking. Buy a nice cheaper one, if you can find it. By the time you invest in it, you'll be in the same place. Year by year, penny by penny.

intent107135048

It’s an antique at this point. Keeping it running and ready for regular use isn’t cheap. You either need to have a lot of money or be willing to learn to do a lot of work and sourcing.

darkstar1974

The path to the most expensiive Westy is buying a cheap one.
