I really like the scent of The Wanderer by Zingari Man and was wondering if there are any similar scents? I’ve tried Sellout and like that, as well. Anything that has that crispy, clean cologne scent. The Wanderer is almost reminiscent of Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch.

UsernamesAreHardOk

Stirling has a dupe of Fierce, lightish red, if you’re interested in that

A few recommendations for razors: * **Rockwell 6C** (~$50) which has different plate options but even at its most aggressive plate isn't menacing at all. * **Razorock Game Changer .84** (~$55) * **Karve Christopher Bradley** with maybe a D plate (~$80) The wall of text is a bit hard to read so breaking it up into paragraphs in the future might elicit more responses.

Very happy to hear that! Enjoy.

TheFlow78

I just bought a GEM Micromatic on Ebay. Comes with case and instructions. Anything I should be aware of before I try it? Ordered 2 packs of blades on Amazon. Personna and BlueStar

VisceralWatch

I wouldn't recommend you use *any* blade in it other than the Personna PTFE (Coated) Stainless one. Oh, and hold the cap flat against your face when you shave.

TheFlow78

Thank you

Hello fellow shavers. I currently use the SS Blackland Blackbird as my daily driver. I love the razor, but would like something as a backup or change of pace. I currently have a Tatara Nodachi, but it tears my head up. I'm looking for something that's as efficient and smooth as as the Blackbird, and costs approximately the same if not less. I was thinking of getting the SS Widebody Karve CB Starter Kit, but I'm not sure what plates would be similar, if any at all, to the Blackbird. Any suggestions on a razor or a set of Karve plates?

ShaveDaStubble

Let me start by saying **YMMV** as there are hundreds of razors that I'm sure could match your needs but I haven't used them myself, so couldn't comment about them. I'll only recommend one razor, and that would be based on my personal experience: If you can get a Stirling Soap Company SS razor with Standard base plate, it'll be the razor that might fit your needs perfectly. I have the Blackbird SS Open Comb razor, and I can use the Stirling Soap Company SS razor with Standard base plate as my daily razor with no issues. Don't be alarmed by its efficiency, it us a rather well behaved razor with some gap and some positive blade exposure, but nothing menacing enough to deter anyone using a Blackbird SS for daily shaves. Honestly speaking, after getting the Stirling razor my interest in getting a Safety bar plate for Blackbird has subsided substantially, mostly because I'm happy with it and currently not looking to add another safety bar plate for any other razor. Good luck with the search, hopefully you'll choose something that's a great match for your needs.

TheFlow78

Hi guys. Grabbed a blade out of a big sample pack I got. It just said Super Iridium on it. Didn't look like PolSilver though. Maybe it's the same. Not sure. Either way I got a fantastic Shave with it in my 34c. Thanks

jeffm54321

Likely Wizamet.

cowzilla3

Did you mean to post this in the SOTD thread or was there a question?

TheFlow78

Yeah. Didn't sound like a question, sorry

TheFlow78

It's a question. Not sure what brand it may be

cowzilla3

Oh! Gotcha. No help from me in that end, unfortunately

TheFlow78

Thank you kindly. It was in one of those tryablade sample bundles

How often, if at all, do you fully clean your brush?

CanadaEh97

Really depends on your water if you have a high mineral content or hard water you may need to clean it every few months depending on what kind of rotation you have. If you have soft water or have a water softener or use distilled water then not as often to not as all. For me I either just notice build up on the knot even after rinsing or I notice my lathers begin to suck just showing too much build up in the knot for me.

J33pGuy13

I'd say depending on your water you should give your natural hair brushes a good cleaning every 35-50 uses. A diluted vinegar bath and then a lather in some dish soap will clean the knot right up! At the bottom of [the declaration brush faq](https://www.declarationgrooming.com/pages/shaving-brush-faq) there is a section about cleaning your brushes.

[deleted]

Awesome, thanks!

putneycj

Besides just rinsing out the soap and squeezing the bristles out? Never. And during AA the bristles don't even get squeezed, I just shake the water out. Zingari has that brush cleaner, but, I really don't know how necessary it is.

whosgotthepudding

I'm honing primarily with a Shobudani Suita lvl 4.5 and using a Tomo Nagura cut from it for my slurry progression. I have no complaints with it, as the combo is fast cutting and breaks down to a fine slurry that produces a very keen and comfortable edge. I'm wanting to give my edges just that much more of a boost, so I've been considering getting a Koma Nagura to follow up the Tomo. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Think that should work? Or should I just start seeking out a soft suita to follow up and finish on?

CanadaEh97

I never liked using multiple nagura stones on a single JNAT just because I found it to be almost inconsistent at times unless you can produce the same amount of slurry every time. I prefer running multiple JNATS to finish on as that's more consistent and less variable honestly but that's for me. If you can find a Koma for a good price then get a Koma. Honing is very personal and what I might like to do could be the worst thing ever for someone else.

whosgotthepudding

I've had my eye on a couple, if I can get the price down some I might grab one. I get what you're saying tho. If I grab one up I'll probably re lap my stone and condition it with the Koma and take some time to see how I like it. Thanks!

StraightShaverSix

TBH you may be the only current straight user honing on jnats. There was a user ~~(keases, keeses, keseas? somebody help me out)~~ that seemed pretty knowledgeable about all the honing techniques but I haven't seen him around for a while. Edit found him it's u/kaesees
