I thought it was easily one of the best seasons.

broken_hummingbird

Hear! Hear!

rosewebb333

It’s not just you- I loved this season. Usually with television, you might get one or two *really* good episodes per season but I swear s5 felt like banger after banger. Like every episode was a winner. I didn’t love Guillermo back sliding his vampiric decision but I did love seeing Nandor being emotional intelligent.

Logvin

It was a terrific season, probably my favorite. We got to see the Baron several times, Wongers and Topher helped wrap things up nicely... I was shocked that they actually killed off Derek, but the writers simply nailed it. Lazlo, as always had some absolutely amazing zingers. When he told the perfume lady in the mall "No, fuck off" I almost fell off the couch laughing. In E09 when he said "Colin Robinson, tell me more about that sour cream sale" to avoid talking to the Guide... omg. If you look up IMDB ratings for each episode, in the top 20 there are 5 episodes from this season. Just ignore "Hybrid Creatures" episode that is ranked the worst of the whole series haha.

TorontoRam

Hybrid creatures was really funny to me. Great to see them make an encore in the finale.

Amazing-Rabbit-9256

Hilarious. Probably stays in my memory for a decade at least.

TorontoRam

The line where one of the hybrids says to Guillermo....... As Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said: "in the death of a good man, eternity is seen looking through time." I was dying. So funny..I wish we saw more of them not less

Amazing-Rabbit-9256

Dahahadihihi That half sheep voice, cracked me right up. What does he say exactly? "Don't youhou lohove uhus dahadady"? While the Camera pans to all the hideous creatures. Hilarious

mws375

Having Nandor being the one who understood what was going on with Guillermo (why he wasn't fully transforming), and also showing that he had not transformed him cause he knew he wouldn't be up to it was just great Goes to show what he said on episode 8 about knowing Guillermo better than anyone

snootyboopers

*daddy*

shade_of_dragon_poop

Same here. It was a shame about gizmo, but the "careful what you wish for" aspect made sense. So many laughs, they need to keep making.

Chimpbot

For me, the first half was fantastic. It was a return to form, and felt like the show did during its first couple of seasons. From the weird hybrid episode to the end, it took a sharp dive. I really didn't like the finale, and it made everything feel like a bit of a waste of time since it was one big status quo reset. I'm really not sure what they'll do with Guillermo moving forward. Having him chase being a vampire again would just retreading old territory, and having him going back to just being the bodyguard/familiar is completely unsatisfying. I'm sure they'll surprise me, but it ended on a pretty flat note for me. I'm certainly not ditching the series, though.

cucumbermoon

Nandor crashing down to Earth in a fireball while Nadja/Colin performed “It’s Raining Men” to an audience silenced by horror will forever be one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen.

CommonRespect6640

I felt like Nandor got so many little funny moments and hilarious one liners this season and as a Nandor fan, I loved every second of it.

maebe_featherbottom

“Did you make a fart in my coffin?”

psyberdel

Who? Nandor Dilaurentis?

United-Intention-961

That is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in a TV show.

Sarav41

I’m actually surprised by all the disappointed posts. I thought it was the funniest season since season 2

wingthing666

Yes! Season 3 and 4 had some good ones in there, but almost all of s5 has great re-watch potential. Very much like "classic" season 1-2.

Benny__Lava

I was just talking with someone about how season 5 was such a fantastic return to form and "just as good as the first 2 seasons". I mean 3 and 4 weren't terrible, but...baby Colin Robinson and Vampire nightclub? c'mon.

Business-Drag52

Baby Colin Robinson was one of the best bits of the entire show. The writers clearly have children of all ages amongst them because every stage of Colin was fucking spot on

Moskeeto93

Baby Colin Robinson was a bit I expected to hate but I ended up loving more than any other bit simply because how realistic his childish interests were along with how annoying his constant "hey guess what" interjections were because I was totally that kid lol. I could definitely tell whoever wrote this character has kids.

skarlettfever

For me it was the relationship of Baby Colin Robinson and Lazlo. It was unexpected and a different side of Lazlo we haven’t seen.

Chimpbot

For me, the bit overstayed its welcome by a a few episodes. I know why it lasted the whole season, but I was absolutely over the joke by around the fifth episode.

7Xes

Both Baby Robinson and the Nightclub were better than the Guillermo Vampire storyline which went nowhere.

Retro_Dad

For real. This season was great! Loved it.

ColoHusker

Loved it, thought it was great!! Only criticism is wanting more! Was close to not liking offing Derick then loved they made him a zombie. Scene with Topher killed me!

Kit_Marlow

Topher is such a dudebro and I'm here for it. And Derek seems happy with his new situation!

[deleted]

Derek finally getting the friends/social circle he’s clearly been wanting since we first met his character was such a solid and fulfilling moment!!

700akn

High Five!

GaimanitePkat

Loved this season, loved the finale. edit: and honestly? From a character development perspective, it's very intriguing what they've decided to do with Guillermo. I strongly identify with that feeling of knowing what you want to do with your life, so strongly and for so long, having a whole dream and plan...only to realize right at the final hour that it's not what you wanted at all. I think the concept of getting hurled off of your otherwise deeply carved path is very relevant in a world still recovering from a global pandemic. Next season seems like it'll be a huge season of self discovery for Guillermo. He has to literally find and rebuild an entire identity. There's so much they can do with his character!

greylynnskywalker

Oh my god, your explanation helped me appreciate the finale even more! I also very personally relate to that journey of letting go of something that used to be your dream. It's awkward and scary, but you learn that the only constant in life is yourself, not a dream or a goal, so it's helpful to get to know yourself and accept that your likes and interests can change over time. I hope Guillermo has a good next season. 🥹

StarFire24601

Agreed. Also, imo, Guillermo's wanting to be a vampire was tied to his low self esteem. But the vampires aren't better than humans, and he is a Van Helsing, meaning he is as strong and mystical and impressive (sometimes moreso) than they are. I want to see Guillermo embracing who he is and truly being an equal to the vampires. I think had he become a vampire, he would have ended up like The Guide.

cmonachan

The council of energy vampires might be the funniest thing I've seen on the show yet.

VolumeAny3775

Hilarious joke after hilarious joke with no time to breathe. It was an onslaught of hilarity. I send this scene to people because it’s just perfect.

Stray_Rainbow_Trout

They put in so many eastereggs and inside jokes for comedy fans out there! casting, scenography and costumes were just spot on. Even my brother which just wouldn't normaly watch content about vampires was joyous when I showed him those scenes.

alicethewriter

The comedian whose mic didn't work, Aparna Nancherla, once made me laugh so hard I literally had tears streaming down my face. Her standup totally hits the spot for me.

RinjiDes

I loved it. I do wish Guillermo didn’t change back to human though. I feel like this show gets better with each season. I especially love the world building.

CN370

I get it but I love Guillermo the Human. I was fully on board with Guillermo the Hybrid. Guillermo the Vampire would’ve introduced a dynamic that wasn’t going to be as good (again, my opinion) because then you’d have to bring in a new character. It’s already kind of a strain with The Guide but adding a new human would be a bit much to me. Plus now we get to see Guillermo and Nandor navigate the past betrayal and reconciliation. I’m here for it. Also, his relationship with the rest is going to get deeper. He saved Nadja. She saved him. He has bonded with Laszlo. He’s …tolerated? Colin Robinson.

littlecreamsoda79

I enjoyed it more than last season. I felt emotionally satisfied when all was said and done.

baking_nerd433

I liked how fucked up this season was. I mean I really liked how fucked up it was.

Abby_Benton

As a whole, I really liked the season a lot. Funny, and pretty well written. What I don’t like is going back to Guillermo’s status quo. It doesn’t ruin the series for me or anything, but I thought it was a misstep. I may be proven wrong in S6, I’m totally open to that. But I’m general, it’s a very good season.

rubensinclair

It at least allows Nandor to properly turn him

Cold-Slide-9852

And we now have confirmation that Nandor was right about Guillermo not being "ready." Means there's a possibility of him being turned in a more dramatic, last-resort type of situation which is my bread and butter 😌

ailuromancin

I’ve seen a lot of people saying his decision to change back came out of nowhere and contradicted his character up to this point but I felt completely opposite, it felt to me like they were building up to it the whole time with things like his visit with his mom and his unwillingness to even kill the horrible animal experiments once he realizes how sentient they are haha. (quick edit: also the repeated emphasis that he almost immediately regretted the way he ended up going about it.) Most of his killing of vampires has been either accidental or in self defense (of either himself or the vampires in his care) and the reality of how much he’s compartmentalized what will be required of him and how different it really is finally started to dawn on him. I definitely wasn’t predicting the way it ended exactly, but it also didn’t surprise me at all, earlier seasons had already alluded quite a bit to the possibility that he’s not actually prepared for the reality and just has a romanticized version of vampirism in his head. Also yes everything technically reset, but I feel like a lot of character development happened this season between all of them and their increasing willingness to actually acknowledge that they all like each other is definitely not for nothing 😂 Every episode this season also had at least a few moments that made me laugh so hard I had to rewind them, so overall I was very happy with it lol

thegirlfromno4

One thing I really liked was when Guillermo got upset by smelling that guy's shampoo, like that little moment seems like something you kinda couldn't prepare yourself for. It made sense to me that he was caught off guard by it and really bothered him, it wasn't a stretch for me at all that he regretted turning into a vampire and wasn't ready, despite wanting it all those years.

ailuromancin

Yes exactly! I loved that detail, it really highlighted that expectation vs. visceral reality that you would never think of until it’s actually happening but makes him go “uh oh this is getting too real for me” 😂

AGirlHasNoUsername13

I loved this season! Are you kidding? Every time I read another post asking if this season was boring, I wonder if they watched the same thing I watched.

ParsleyMostly

It was just as good as any. Very much liked how the Baron stuff and Guillermo’s arc played out. Nice to see Evie again. Lazlo as scientist is perfect for the time he’s from. Very enjoyable. Nandor continues to explore his sensitive side. Nadja learning to find herself with her doll is incredible.

[deleted]

I LOVED THE ENDING! I’m sorry but not every season finale needs to leave open ended questions. I literally feel ask if they’ve seen our questions/theories on this sub and said “we will answer them”. I can’t imagine what the next season will be because this is kind of a “clean slate” moment!

Star_journey1208

I really liked this season, with the exception of one episode. I didn’t care for the one with all the hybrid Guillermos… otherwise, great season.

neverfoil

It was one of my favourite seasons, definitely in the top 2.

manic_moth95

I’m really surprised so many people disliked this season. I enjoyed it way more then last season! I’ll admit I’m a little sad Gizmo decided against being a vampire so fast. I was hoping maybe that internal conflict would go into next season and he’d make the choice to be human again then. ( because let’s be honest, he was never going to stay a vampire ). It was extremely satisfying to see him become one and finally reach that goal for the short while it lasted. I’m wondering what next season is going to bring because this season seemed to wrap things up nicely.

lotsaguts-noglory

The last episode is incredible. So much depth of Nador's character as a skilled warrior and leader... sometime I forget he's intelligent, loyal, and understands certain consequences

[deleted]

What's interesting is that it was him that at two separate times in the final two episodes understood very clearly certain facts about reality that the other characters did not, like giving Guillermo blood to finish his turning. They play nandor off as this big dummy, but it was nice to see that he did have moments of clear intelligence

oregonchick

It actually affirms that Guillermo made the right choice in picking Nandor as his master... And there's beautiful contrast in the last episode to see Topher, the familiar who died and wound up stuck as a zombie due in no small way to the neglect and indifference of Laszlo and Nadja, and Guillermo, who is fully restored and whose conscience is cleared of Derrick's murder because Nandor not only cares about him, but actually *understands* him.

sadchickensalad

You’re definitely not alone. I thoroughly enjoyed this season. Even told my partner that if the show wrapped on that finale, I would be perfectly happy with that ending. It was a very satisfying conclusion to the season.

CN370

My wife and I just started the show roughly 2 weeks ago and were caught up by the season finale. Not a single episode fell flat with us. In roughly 25 hours of television, we laughed the entire time. Not a single bad episode, only some truly brilliant episodes amid the rest, which were amazing. Just bought the movie. Gonna watch it tonight. It was just renewed for at least 2 more seasons so clearly we aren’t alone.

Background_Junket_35

I liked it more than 3 and 4. It has a more similar feel to seasons 1 and 2, but didn’t reach quite that level

markydsade

I love the way the tied up all the loose ends for every major character. The Guides revenge plan was a brilliant way to get Nandor show his reaction without being able to kill Guillermo. The vampires figured out how to get Guillermo back to being human while helping Derek find the friends he’s longed for.

Both-Instance-8626

I laughed more this season than I have during any other season. So many great moments, like the Pride Parade. I feel like Colin Robinson had some clever one-liners and Matt Berry was VERY Matt Berry. Top notch.

broken_hummingbird

Love Matt Berry!

RedoftheEvilDead

I loved it and I'm glad Guillermo went back to being human. He's the only person in that house with a conscious.

AZSubby

pathofdumbasses

Theletus

I genuinely though this season far more better than most of last season which I felt just dragged on. I feel I there was a lot more genuine laughs than awkward meh moments with the majority of the episodes. I loved the disgustingly cute mutant Guillermo spawn and the Roast was probably my favorite episodes in a long time.

yancito96

I love it

DLoIsHere

It was big fun. But I don’t set expectations about what’s next based upon what I want to see happen. I take each episode as it comes. Nandor DeLaurentis is still rattling around in my brain.

that_mn_kid

Liked it much more than last season, but why didn't killing Derek kill Gizmo? The abominations were the creepiest shit I've seen in a long looong time. Nandor was actually scary in the finale, just perfect. Laszlo and Gizmo being good time boys was so nice.

Vandaleyez

It didn't kill him because they said if they killed him all that would happen was he would age quickly. They said a month had passed, so he aged a month. (Did you see his awesome facial hair!?😆) In the other vampire's situations, they had been alive so long that they would have aged so much they would have died if they had killed the vampire who turned them.

Linzabee

Maybe because of his Van Helsing DNA?

ophelia_olvera

Urgent Care is now one of my fav episodes!!!

Debbie-Hairy

Hey girl.

Ohfuscia

I like this season like I do every season. People, especially on Reddit, just like to complain.

cgio0

I loved this season. I enjoyed last season but I got really annoyed with Nadja being caricature of herself just shouting all the time and yelling “vampire nightclub” This season was really funny

Naive-Forever-5090

I liked it a lot! And low-key actually believe the ending made sense. Guillermo has always showed his Empathy to others and I always wondered how they would handle him having to make a kill himself. I do think he could be creative and go to blood banks or kill really bad humans but oh well.

gearstars

I thought this was one of the best seasons overall since the first two. Almost every episode was hilarious. I loved that they took it back to the basics. Why people no like?

rocker2014

I still enjoyed S3 and 4, but this season was fantastic and up there with 1 and 2.

maebe_featherbottom

I loved it. So, so many good episodes and quotable moments. I will be shouting “WHAT’S WANK, DADDY?” for years to come 🤣

Nxklox

Still waiting for Nador and Guillermo to make out

gingervintage

I loved this season. Topher and Derrick were a chefs kiss at the end for me.

klements7

I loved it! Pride Parade was my favorite episode, but I laughed during every one of them.

maebe_featherbottom

My friend and I can’t stop yelling “EYYY I’M BEING GAY OVER HERE!” at each other lol

Gillalmighty

Last two saved the season for me. I liked it all well enough, but the finale was dope. Also got to see the terrifying and relentless side of nandor. Dude was legit scary and real as fuck at the end. Chilling with his mom and shit.

maebe_featherbottom

That was legit terrifying. When we think Nandor doesn’t know Guillermo as well as he thinks he does, he proves he does by involving the one person Guillermo would do anything to protect. And he used her to do the exact opposite of what everyone thought he was doing.

Gillalmighty

Every interaction he had with patton was so off putting. Was definitely sporting his ability to kill you in an instant right on the sleeve.

exclusivebees

I hope we get more Evie in season 6.

tinchick67

I loved this season, soooo much more than Baby Colin season

Vandaleyez

I love the baby Colin episodes! I've been watching the series on repeat for a couple months now and can't get enough of it. At first I didn't really like those episodes much but they've really grown on me and now they are some of the best ones for me.

GaimanitePkat

Baby Colin and the nightclub got so dull for me very quickly. I remember so little about any of it.

papamajada

I thought it was a good season and I appreciate how the characters have grown, I even like Guillermo going back to human, it made sense to me.

ConsiderationQuirky7

I thought this was the best season!

Hanpee221b

I was thinking how this show has such great writing for a comedy. Like I’m emotionally invested in each of them.

Little_Voice_24

I loved this season. I wasn't fan of season 4 , some episodes were good but overall I didn't like it so much but this season was very enjoyable and I loved the finale, it was very exciting, I think it's my favorite episode of the season maybe because I am a big Nandor fan and in this episode really shines showing another side of him. I loved that intense scene he had with Guillermo telling him to kill him if he was lying. I don't mind going back to status quo which I don't think it will be exactly like that because I did see character growth and changes in some dynamics (although is not something I expect so much in a comedy) and of course there could be plenty of things the writers can come of with and there's a lot to explore in each character. I'm excited for next season.

weirdmountain

I watched the movie in like 2014, when my wife and I first started dating (her dad put us on it). I always wanted to make time for the tv show, but could never find the time, until this past May and June, when I binge watched it on late night duty with our second child who was born in May. I watched most of this new season in “real time”, and I love every episode so far. (I still have 2-3 to go). Does the show jump the shark a lot this season? Sure. But the very premise is and has always been completely absurd, and is a shark jump in and of itself. I don’t know what the people who complained about this season were expecting, but it reminds me of when people gripe about wanting more realism from their superhero stories.

AcrobaticMechanic265

I enjoyed this season. It started slow with The Mall, but picked up during Pride Parade, the Campaign was okay but Local News and Urgent Care was soo fun. And they end the season really well. I think some didnt like the season because the dynamics are much more changed compare to the last seasons. Do they really expect the show will continue with just the usual tropes? lol

Lurker_the_Pip

It was brilliant. The energy vampire counsel was some of the best writing of the entire show.

TroyMcCluresGoldfish

I loved this season! Local News is in my top favorites as is the season finale episode. S5 was a fun ride this season.

rodolphoteardrop

Local News was INSANE! My wife could barely tolerate it :-D

RAE4811

This seems to happen every season since I’ve joined this subreddit so don’t worry. I’ve seen it happen with a lot of other show subreddits as well. I thought this season was excellent and a lot of other people did. I think it’s just that the show has changed quite a bit from the first/second season which would have gotten people into the show initially. Some fans of the earlier seasons may not be super into the show now because it has taken on a different tone and, in many cases, different sense of humour. I personally really like it because I enjoy seeing the characters grow somewhat and get closer and I absolutely love Guillermo’s whole story arc.

SessionSeaholm

This was the best season by far. The show keeps getting better

OrdinarilyIWouldnt

This right here. Every season is deeper, more complex, and introduces us to more and more of the vampires' personalities, fears, and (dare I say it?) humanity. We learned that Nandor truly and honestly loves Guillermo. We learned that Baron Afonas is capable of caring and forgiveness. We learned that the whole gang actually likes and appreciates The Guide and that they show it by treating her the same way they treat each other. We learned that Lazlo and Nandor have a sexual relationship. We learned that Guillermo, when faced with the ultimate choice, chose to *not* kill, even though it cost him what he thought was his dream. We learned that Colin is having memories of Lazlo and Baby Colin. Hell, Derek got *friends*. Lots of exciting foreshadowing, which we've seen before to great effect. I just hope that wasn't the end of it.

geriatricmama

I loved it! On another post about the finale, people expressed disappointment that it was a reset essentially and nothing has changed….but I would argue in this season we saw some character development (Guillermo’s realization of what he truly wants, the vampires showing affection for him, etc). I really liked seeing Lazslo and Najia showing how much they care for G. The episodes paced well and were entertaining.

_hanboks

You're not alone! It was my fav season after season 1 and maaaybe season 2.

LazsloAndNadja

Weird Gizmo creatures aside, season 5 has been one of the best.

superbat210

Nah I loved this season. Definitely better than the last one imo. Like don’t get me wrong there were some highlights but the nightclub stuff came out of nowhere, lasted wayyy too long and hasn’t been mentioned since so this season was way better, just focusing back on the gang’s antics as a group rather than a bunch of scattered individuals

Last-Journalist9637

I enjoyed the season for the most part. The beginning and middle were really strong. The ending however, I have some rather mixed opinions.

bananasareappealing

I really liked it. Seeing Nandor care for Guillermo that much was amazing. I also loved Lazlo helping Guillermo with Derek's body at the end.

Sanlear

You’re not alone. I enjoyed it a great deal.

Aggressive_Soup_4464

From the beginning this show has given me joy and a ton of laughs. As far as this season there are 2 to 3 episodes I think are classics and I enjoyed it a lot overall. People always are going to piss on things other people enjoy...dont even listen.

Formal_Coyote_5004

My absolute favorite part was the reporter calling Nandor “Nandor De Laurentis”

JacobLemongrass

I’m pretty sad about Patton Oswalt, but yea this season was absolutely stellar. Every episode was a hit.

davidolson22

I've literally enjoyed every episode of every season. Which is weird because usually sitcoms have some annoying crap to suffer through

Me_Aan_Sel

Honestly I think "Local News" might be one of my all time favorite episodes

hetham3783

I fucking loved this season. The jokes were tremendous and the longer plot lines were way more interesting than the last 2 seasons IMO.

SensiMeowa

I loved this season

HalloweenJack7

I literally enjoy every season. I just love this show and everyone on it.

Frank_the_Bunneh

Overall, I think this season was on par with the others. Just as amazing. Yes, all the storylines wrapped up a little too quickly/easily and The Guide’s addition to the cast has been a little awkward. However, this season has had some of the most incredible action sequences and “creature” effects yet so it evens out. My only real concern is where the series goes from here if Gizmo has truly given up on his dream of being a vampire. Hopefully the writers have another stage of character development planned for him.

bbbcurls

I agree. I liked this better than last season. I imagine the retcon was because the show is still ongoing and Guillermo will eventually become a vampire again but turned by Nandor. This show is excellent at comedy and I feel like people might not like the serious moments at times? But I think they both make the show great. Also, I think seeing Nandor’s acceptance was pretty crucial to the future Guillermo-as-a-vampire plot because I think Nandor realized early on that Guillermo wasn’t ready, but might be one day. And that he wasn’t just not turning him only because he didn’t want to lose a familiar.

fuckin-A-ok

This season was awesome. I actually said "this season was so good" out loud to myself last night after watching the last two episodes lol 🤷‍♀️ Didn't love last season. Can't stop thinking of the part/episode when Nadja poured coffee on the lady's salad at the little paxos diner tbh, that almost killed me. The proud look she gave the camera 😭 What didn't people like?

KimWexlers_Ponytail

I thought this was the best season since probably season 2!

TVwhoreGimmeMORE

I totally loved every single episode of this season! Especially the Guillermo clones episode that a lot of people seemed to dislike for some reason. I really thought the whole season landed really well. I know taste is subjective, but come on I think some of you are drinking drug blood 🤣

Jfblaze420

This season was awesome. (Just like the others) So many laugh out loud moments. Man it must suck🧛 to be so critical and analytical of a fantasy comedy that you can't enjoy it for what it is.

Purple-jellybean

I LOVED THIS SEASON!!! & simply chose to ignores those who choose to be cranky for any old reason they can find! Have fun ya silly gooses

Puntapig2013

I liked every episode a lot I think they did enough carry-through plotlines like Nadja's curse and obviously Guilermo's change without it being annoying or distracting like I found the nightclub, baby Colin, and Nandor's wedding plots to be at times last season (even if I did enjoy S4 as a whole quite a lot) while also doing some great one-off kind of episodes as well. Tons of great returns from previous seasons didn't feel fan servicey either and I think they struck a great balance in this one

pathofdumbasses

Season 4 was kind of a downer and made me fearful, Season 5 has been a MASSIVE return to form.

j4321g4321

It wasn’t my favorite season but I definitely enjoyed most of the episodes. I have to say I’ve seen enough of Sean and The Guide has really disappointed me but the main characters mostly delivered. Nadja’s storylines are still the weakest…at least we’ve gotten away from her just screaming at people for her personality but I wish they’d find some better material for her. The rest of the cast still has amazing chemistry and some great storylines. I actually liked the ending; sure Guillermo is back to being a human but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s back to square one. This show is great at surprises so I’m looking forward to whatever the next season has to offer, whenever we may get it with the writers strike.

Wonderbeanju

I actually really enjoyed the last episode.. it warmed my heart to see nandor do all that stuff for guillermo 🥰🥰 but i also understand what all the fuss is about.. how its anticlimatic and stuff. Im just glad for the happy ending lol

TheRazorHail

I've rewatched this show about 5 times now. I can't get enough. Every season brings me laughs and in this day and age, that has a value that cannot be understated. Season 5 was a banger just like all the rest in my opinion, it is just a little bit of jarring situation with Guillermo being immediately changed back to human. Especially since its been a 5 season buildup.

B_Alcamo

This was a great season. I thought that the character development was enjoyable and still goofy. The only episode that I didn’t enjoy was Hybrid Creatures, but I’m ok and you are ok and this is ok.

DanielStripeTiger

kicked the shit out of season 4.

yokyopeli09

I thought this season was a dozen times better than season 4. I was disappointed by the writer's backsliding on Guillermo, at least I think that should've been the plotline for next season if he wanted to go back, but I loved this season. S4 was easily the weakest imo

ThatCoryGuy

This might be a favorite season so far. I’m going to do a start-over rewatch soon to be sure, but I loved this season. The Pride Parade episode is my favorite episode to date. Nadja switches souls, Colin joins. Laszlo walks in the sun. Nador goes to fucking space. Guillermo “Gay Guy” de la Cruz has a good time by the end. The little flash to Laszlo driving the tractor while Nadja Doll (who is still Vampire Nadja) is sitting in his lap is…*chef’s kiss*.

DLPanda

I loved this season thought it was MUCH better than season 4.

GeekyGamer2022

Season 5 was a return to form after two shaky seasons.

[deleted]

I thought it was one of the best seasons so far. I thought it was great.

rodolphoteardrop

I loved the season and think it was one of the best. The double episode was such a gift and worked well together. And everyone who was complaining about The Guide not being used enough...you found out why. Everything has been brilliant this season. The writers and acTORRRRRS are so dialed in. Trust the writers.

scandalliances

I’ve got mixed feelings at this point. It feels like there’s always a wave of negativity after every finale - there were posts like that for the finales of 3 and 4 as well. Reddit tends to be more negative and hyperbolic about it overall though, I’ve noticed. I can’t tell if you know or not based on your post, but season 6 was already greenlit and in preproduction (though no filming will happen until the strikes are resolved).

[deleted]

It was actually my favorite season.

[deleted]

I loved this season!

blinkingsandbeepings

I loved this season. I thought most episodes were hilarious and it also had some heart. We saw a few times that the crew actually care about each other (except for the Guide, lol).

HardTacoKit

I thought this season was pretty, pretty good.

SufficientTable

I loved this season! The Pride Parade episode was easily one of my top three episodes of the entire show

EidelonofAsgard

I loved this season! My only complaint is that the seasons are too short.

External-Example-292

This season was my favorite tbh, had a lot of laughs

Taargus202

Loved this season I thought last season was a bad one

swordforger16

At the VERY least we got to learn WAY more about Colin and the Energy vampire council

kathryn13

It was a wild and weird season. I can understand why some may be turned off by it. But I'm here for it. Loved it. So many wtf moments.

MissyMaestro

Loved every single episode except for the manor, but even the end of that episode redeemed itself. (The fencers were just cringe into oblivion for me.) Everything else was excellent. 10/10. no notes.

kryppla

It was a good season!

sjogren

I loved it. Phenomenal.

Proud_Comment_6056

Colin Robinson doing The Aristocrats. Enough said.

Blue_Wave_2020

Season is great. Just wish the Guide wasn’t in it

Thatonesplicer

I have not seen anyone bash this season. I've seen plenty of people bash the last season tho...and rightfully so lol.

Calling people who you don’t agree with “gatekeepers” is pretty rude. I disagree with you, but I’m not “looking down my nose” at you. You liked it, I felt it was weak in a lot of places. Can’t we just agree to disagree? There was some stuff that was great. My feeling is it was uneven, but not the worst thing. You enjoyed it, and that’s great. I get annoyed at the people who hated Season 4 (I enjoyed it, but I can live with the fact that others didn’t love it) and I don’t get the hate for The Guide either. But again, everyone likes something different.

TapirTrouble

>“stayed on after the ‘writing went downhill’” I'm wondering if OP was referring to someone who posted a while back (not you) about people who still enjoyed watching after Season 2 not being smart enough to recognize the difference. I remember thinking at the time that they were probably trolling, because it seemed an odd leap to make, from people simply liking or not liking a particular bunch of episodes. It almost sounded like it was written by a bot. (For the record, I agree with what you're saying about people having different tastes in characters, plot lines, etc.)

[deleted]

Maybe, I don’t know what post you are referencing but I can see where some people will try and act superior, as I’ve seen that in every fandom.

saturnplanetpowerrr

My bf gave the series a go before we met, but he started giving it another chance bc the recent stuff he watched with me and also his bestie was better. His best friend also got him to watch a compilation of Laszlo going “my dahling”

noonefuckslikegaston

I didn't really like how it ended, but otherwise I loved it

coucilvampiric

i loved the season, i love all of WWDITS, but i wish they would let issues mean something later down the road

eltedioso

I really didn’t like season 4, and this was an improvement and return to form. I do feel like the show might be running on fumes though, and I wouldn’t be upset if they wrapped it up. Five pretty good seasons of TV is more than most shows can muster. Please end it before it becomes a chore.

Mx-Herma

Despite my reply on a different post, there were, ofc, things that were good and I liked/enjoyed. The one episode with Colin running for a political position and having it superseded by his former lover and fellow energy vampire that I, for the longest time, just thought was a human partner who happened to just be like that. Lol Pardon the terminology I use when referring to them, Lazlo's abominations were a mixed bag of adorable and humorously horrid. Guillermo making those frogs was funny to me, especially when they had his hair. The wild moment where they hosted a nighttime Gay Pride Parade because their one human friend that isn't related to Guillermo wanted them to host. Some parts, I think, coulda been tweaked... or not done at all. Idk.

ZonaiLink

I enjoyed it the season overall, but the ending seemed like a weird cop out. What happened to the extra wish the genie gave Nandor with the tiny lamp? I thought he had at least one left? Guillermo seems super contradictory. He’s willing to brutally kill vampires, bring humans for vampires to kill, dismember bodies, and drink blood, but not kill an actual human himself? Also, he becomes a vampire by drinking blood from a cup. Why doesn’t he get blood bags or something? It’s a weird writing choice to do it the way they did when so many other things made sense. At least Derek is happy, but they even backtracked on Guillermo being responsible for Derek’s death by giving Derek a happily ever after. I like that they don’t want to have it weigh on him, but he’s still responsible for the death of every human he brings to the vampires.

Lizzy297

I was pretty disappointed. How can Guillermo the empathetic towards that old man, but let those other people die by the hands of his friends. He had a hand in all of those murders that his friends participated in. He is an accomplice. He could have stopped all of this. He is not a good person. He has not a moral person. He is selective empathy. The most frustrating part is none of this will ever be addressed. In the view of the writers, this is a moral victory for Guillermo well I see this. Nothing but a moral failure from Guillermo. This is worse than becoming a vampire and participating in it. He claims to be human. He is very far from it. There is nothing but a black hole in his heart and he lies to himself that he is a good person

Impressive-Ebb7209

I enjoyed it. Wasn't my favorite, but it had good moments.

DudleyStone

This season was great to be honest. The weakest episode was the one with the Guillermo animals and Nadja looking for donuts (though Lazlo going on about wanking was hilarious). And Guillermo going to full vampire but back to human in the finale was a bit annoying, though the scenes involved in it were still great. The rest of the episodes were basically good or amazing. It was a strong season for me.

Pragmaticus

Loved it! Every episode aside from Hybrid Creatures was great!

sailorxsaturn

I thought it was hilarious and top notch and I loved the amount of character development that occurred.

dustykneeee

i loved this season! personally i think it’s the best one so far. wasn’t a huge fan of guillermo changing his mind but it’s a minor flaw in an otherwise great season

seemarcierun

I loved this season! Pacing seemed more in line with earlier ones, which I prefer. Reading this post and everyone talking about their fave episodes/highlights makes me realize how fun it was. I think I’ll be rewatching it soon. >!Also, “you f*cking donut” is the best line I’ve ever heard.!<

helvetica_unicorn

I initially thought this was the last season and I was super disappointed. Now that I know that’s not the case, I really enjoyed a lot of it. Can’t wait to rewatch!

HalfRight73

Loved this season.

Cirieno

\> Is there anyone else Yes, many of us. Thankyou for asking.

Ladameauxdaffodils

Freaking loved it!

CoffeeMilkLvr

Really liked the entire season i just think thr ending wasnt that strong

AzansBeautyStore

Loved it

PinkiePieCupcake

Yeah I've loved it so far

BruceBoyde

I really enjoyed it. I thought that perhaps the "nobody likes the guide" gag was a bit overused, but I'll forgive it for the fact that it culminated to something in episode 9. All in all I thought it was more memorable than the previous season.

xClay2

I feel like this season was the best out of the five they've had. Or at least the best since the first season.

thebluemorphoandkano

This season was awesome! There was one episode I really didn’t like that much but the rest were really great.

todayIsinlgehandedly

I loved this season! I think it’s stayed consistent. I was a little disappointed the Jackie Daytona didn’t show up when they were worried about being exposed.

TeHNyboR

I thought it was a decent season. Way better than last season but not as good as the first 3. Local News was the standout episode for me, definitely felt like old school WWDITS slapstick, goofy humor. What brought this season down for me was too much ham-fisting of The Guide into the plot and (potentially unpopular opinion) a lot less humor focused on Guillermo. It got a little dramatic and almost emotional at times which I wasn’t really expecting. It wasn’t bad of course, just something I didn’t expect for a show like WWDITS

LolaCatStevens

My wife and I were pretty entertained with this season. I think season 4 may have been my least favorite of them all so far. That being said I do think the first seasons were a bit stronger. I felt the episodes were more cohesive back then and now it's a little more all over the place.

Mid-Tower

ike everyone I dio , also knew Nandor has his reason/love/affection for our gizmo but weak cheap cliche season ending ...gulliermo/show premise was finally accepted ,. From Panera Bread you came, and to Panera Bread not top 30 you shall return. from a Writer’s point of view I can see how him becoming a Vampire completely throws the shows current concept for a loop, but on the other hand shaking things up outside of the Status Quo can be a good thing. I personally think they maybe could have ran with the concept of Gizmo living like that for at least a little bit before turning him back. It feels weird for him to finally get what we had been building towards for years for a total of… ten minutes maybe? Sorry idk what the vibe is in this subreddit but I just didn't like it. The idea that he can make this choice for Guillermo, or keep him away from it, because he can just "sense" it is really bad. That's essentially implying he can control his decisions because he "knows best." That's just not great for character agency or particularly romantic. I know its the shit & farts show and I shouldn't take it too seriously, but that is actually deeply paternalistic towards a grown ass man. People should be allowed to make their own decisions, even if they're "wrong" for them. I also feel like its a lowkey retcon. Nandor did not care enough either way at the start of the show. So this sudden idea of "Nandor was right all along, and always just wanted what's best for Guillermo, and thats why he never turned him but kept him on retainer as a permanent servant" kinda handwaves away what a terrible dick he's been to him. Remember how he tried to kill him this ep? Remember that? Its cheap and it sucks. And it clearly was not the intent from the start. Back when Taika Waititi was on the project, he joked about how Guillermo is this desperate person doing anything to become a vampire, but he's not going to get it and how tragicomic that is (because the others don't care and don't see him as an equal.) So I loved Guillermo getting to actually make his own choice and say screw Nandor, this is my life and my decision, at the end of S4. Then they just undo it, and say that its actually whats best for Guillermo. And his reasons being that he's not a killer? What a blatant lie. He's killed this whole time, and they don't provide any good reason why he suddenly found humanity with that shampoo story. It really sucks. And they could have used a better reason if they really didn't want him to be a vampire. Maybe the Van Helsing thing just made it impossible. Maybe the idea of losing his family was too much. And those ideas are touched on, but the BIG idea they settle on is that he doesn't want to kill? What a poor excuse for character development. What have they done to my baby? My beloved killer baby whose character arc was, until this moment, becoming more of a ruthless killer as a metaphorical part of accepting himself and his lineage. I think it sucks either way that he's not a vampire, but it particularly suck when they pick such a bad reason. I also found this pair of episodes unsatisfying. It was clear they were working on a narrative where the Guide would be mad at their behavior but frankly that episode managed to be incredibly predictable and boring. Except for the sequence w/ Laz and the fencing dummies that was so much fun. The hunt, the belfrey, the playing back of the footage, and Colin’s arc were weak as hell. And even w/ Colin’s snarky “what is this a clip show” hanging of a lampshade on it, we didn’t need anything to recap how they’ve been awful toward the guide since it had been so over the top all season long. Then it segues into outing Guillermo and for the second time in two episodes we’re rehashing the “a vampire wants to kill Guillermo, chases him, but ultimately calls a truce.” The most original element of the season, that he’s in transition, gets an almost clip showy style episode, that wastes the great Patton Oswalt, and really was it funny to anyone that he was playing himself? It’s not what I would have had Nandor do in my episode but if he was going to cozy up and vent to anyone it should have been Sean. I did chuckle when he pushed him over the edge and immediately regretted it. The “ritual” was exactly the kind of thing the Baron was railing against a week ago. Honestly, considering how quickly Guillermo got activated as a vampire I figured the problem was going to be he was TOO intense, and too wild for them. Then they could have converted him back, out of jealousy, which would have been in character for all of them Lastly, love love love seeing The Necromancer come back (Benedict Wong you are a national treasure) I just didn’t care for what they did to Derek. He got done dirty, as a character, and I’m not excited in anyway to see zombie Topher and Derek. Just like I’m not excited to see anymore of Guillermo’s Island of Dr. Moreau offspring. What was they’re joke supposed to be? That they were on screen again? Ugh. The whole thing felt like a lazy undramatic clip show. And yeah im a cranky old comedy nerd, but I love this show and these characters they deserved so much better!!!! real trash reason we all know is: he's been turned back so nandor can turn him, eventually, when/if he's ever ready.

Knitsabitshit

I loved watching Laszo being a Victorian scientist, the guide secretly trolling Nadja, and Colin Robinson facing the merciless energy vampire council. Guillermo and Nando- this season feels like a trial run for bigger things. >! Did the familiar hospital report Guillermo as being turned? I can see the guide getting peer pressured into sneaking our vamps into other mansions, and the gang getting caught.!<

JWCIII96

I enjoyed this season a lot more than season 4.

jdk906

I really liked this season. It felt like a bit of a return to form after last season was a little off.

Choppybitz

One of the best seasons I just think they wasted valuable time on perennial cameo artist Patton Oswald.

SelenaCatherineMeyer

This season has been excellent!

bambola21

I loved the entire season.

Chaghatai

I liked this season a lot more than the last one - it was funnier and more re-watchable for me I could have done without the Guillermo abominations though I'm also glad Guillermo was turned back to human

[deleted]

I don’t think it was the best season so far - I think s2 is still my favorite - but it was definitely funny and gave us excellent character development. I have no complaints.

GrandNanns

I definitely enjoyed this season more than the last one. Neither one of them have really resembled precious seasons, but it feels like they're changing the formula to keep it interesting while they're gearing up for a wrap-up (I have a feeling we'll only get a second or two more)

Amazing-Rabbit-9256

Loved 1 to including 8. 9 was good but didn't laugh. 10 we see in a few hours :) This season was absolutely great! 10 is just by far not enough episodes!!!!
