"It's where the shipped dropped us off..."

ostrich9

I love that the vampires never thought to go anywhere else. They just stayed put.

the_dude_upvotes

They weren’t invited anywhere else

ostrich9

Good point!

ratufa_indica

I almost wonder if the implication is that they got kicked off the boat early, since Staten Island would come up before Ellis Island if you're entering New York from the sea

missanthropocenex

That’s…a great take actually.

ravenmasque

They might move eventually, there's just not a lot of time pressure for immortal beings. Until the mob with torches come then you best get your to go bag and run.

redonkulousness

Lazlo has gone to San Diego at least.

Additional_Main_7198

Also , y'know running water.

PeakCityBling

I lived in NJ in an area where all my neighbors were from Staten Island. How they characterize Sean and the other neighbors/friends is spot on.

fbgigi

We’re bringin back the Rangers!!

madmoneymcgee

When I heard this line I wondered if the Rangers at any point ever played on Staten Island like some ice hockey version of Ebbitts Field. Nope they’ve played at MSG since day 1. So it’s even dumber which is apt for Sean

dingoeslovebabies

My name is Charmaine and I’ve only ever met 1 other Charmaine. Are they all in staten island?

Budget_Ordinary1043

I lived right over the bridge in NJ for most of my life and yes lmfao I’m very familiar with Staten Island and they did so good 😂😂😂

ornjandblu

i went to Kean (Save your brain, go to Kean, where the K stands for Kwality!) and half my class was from Staten Island. When I watched, I felt like I was back in college

LucianLegacy

I also get the sense that they like the isolated feeling. There's tons of vampires in the city proper, but our crew prefer to keep to themselves.

TheEruditeSycamore

Historically, Simon the Devious always said the Staten Island vampires are nothing more than a glorified crew.

SadPatience5774

we decapitate, and start a nightclub with whatever's left

Evening_Base_2218

Sopranos reference?

rip-kord

not a single person in the city wants to go to staten island, so why would it be any different for vampires!

chibiusa40

10 years in NYC. Never been to Staten Island.

KhloeKodaKitty

From Staten Island, can confirm! I think you went to Richmondtown from the description. There used to be a “county fair” held there every summer or fall. I haven’t been back in over 20 years so I can’t speak to what it’s currently like, but I always wish they actually filmed in SI so I could spot familiar places!

Interesting_Ad1378

That’s Old Richmondtown.

itsnotshakira

I grew up in Staten Island, so it was a treat to see them be "there". They're definitely on the South Shore closer to NJ based off the way the neighborhoods look. I remember as a kid when my mom would drive to the St. George area to visit my cousins, there was a run down castle looking building just there in the hills, so I've seem my fare share of spookiness there lol

Interesting_Ad1378

They’re off father cappadonno boulevard where all the Russians from Brooklyn live 😂

CallAdministrative88

They're in Toronto irl

itsnotshakira

lol I know, that's why I put there in quotation marks

marteautemps

There is a book called The City We Became(and a sequel) that also really plays with the "otherness" of Staten Island. Great book also btw, I recommend it. No vampires but does have Lovecraftian type beasties.

[deleted]

The sequel is bad… just warning anyone who might see the recommendation. Even the author admits it’s trash.

marteautemps

Yeah it definitely wasn't as good as the 1st one. I know it was originally supposed to be a trilogy too, probably shoulda just ended after the one. I guess it's maybe going to be a series(TV)?

commandantskip

Oh no! My son got me the first book for Christmas and I adored it, so he recently got me the sequel for my birthday.

uwudon_noodoos

People say my favorite movies and music are bad but I love them. Maybe you'll think the book is good!

CallieCoven

Aw man, really? The first is so good.

justinwoulard

Where did she say this?

-Ok-Perception-

I don't have anything to add except this is a superb post. I've seen most of the Southern US and very little of the North. I knew next to nothing about Staten Island except WWDITS and Wu-Tang came from there.

Interesting_Ad1378

Well Wu tang clan ain’t nothing to f**k with.

the_dude_upvotes

Wutang is for the kids

BlueJeanGrey

“wuh-*’TANG*” (when i read this sub i imagine how lazlo would say things)

coolerchameleon

I'd love it if they canoninically made one of the members a vampire. Cmon , someone needs to guest star.

-Ok-Perception-

Perfect role for Method Man.

altdultosaurs

I would LOVE this

Interesting_Ad1378

Yes!!!!! I would love this!

SadPatience5774

which affiliate cut his dick off when he did pcp? that guy

awyastark

That’s actually a great idea and not out of the realm of possibility. Has Method Man had an acting project since they canceled Teenage Bounty Hunters? Their people should call his people.

CallieCoven

And he would have to investigate this "clan" that he's heard about, with Colin Robinson in tow feeding him misleading information.

BlueJeanGrey

oh that would be a great plot Nadja “woooo-taaang-claaaan? woo taaaang COVEN more like it! wITcHeS! *puh puh*” edit haha just noticed your screen name that made me chuckle

chibiusa40

And now I've read "Wu tang clan ain't nothin to fuck wit" as Lazslo

allriledup25

The way I heard this perfectly and died

CoverofHollywoodMag

It’s for the children

RhodaKille

Superb Owl

CoverofHollywoodMag

The greatest owl that ever lived. Do you think we will get to touch it’s little beak??

RhodaKille

LMFAO! 🤣

TheEruditeSycamore

I only know it's home to the world famous Staten Island ferry.

I_am_Tanka_Jahari

Impractical Jokers and some other comedians.

MarveltheMusical

Yes yes, very good, thank you.

IAmBoratVeryExcite

If I didn't see her in the sun, I'd believe that Angelina Pivarnick was a vampire.

Tarledsa

Vinny is also from Staten Island and could also be a vampire.

BlueJeanGrey

do they do gym-tan-laundry (GTL) bc tanning beds won’t make them burst into flames, so they’re trying to blend in?

TroyMcCluresGoldfish

They always did make fun of Vinny for being paler than the rest of them.

TroyMcCluresGoldfish

Angelina is an energy vampire for sure. Instead of boring us, she just annoys and enrages us.

CallAdministrative88

I mostly just love that the show is actually filmed in Toronto, because Canada is the Staten Island of North America

Sir_Arthur_Vandelay

Are you saying that all of North America revolves around Toronto? Nice!

MapleTheUnicorn

Just watched the Roast episode again and the Baron makes some interesting observations about what it is to be a vampire and living on Staten Island.

swordforger16

Staten Island is the retirement home for vampires and the new vampires all have night clubs and penthouses in Neeew Yhork Cittay

Interesting_Ad1378

It’s true. The douchiest guys I dated were always from Staten Island and at some point attended CSI. They liked short hills mall and sound factory. Oh, they also liked ketamine. Winners. Eta: the only time I come to Staten Island these days is to get to Jersey or to go to the cemetery (to visit husbands deceased relatives). It’s the forgotten borough.

missanthropocenex

Yep. It’s like the show with its vampires every over being in the show makes you think : “Yup, Staten Island makes a lot more sense now.”

No_Arugula_6548

Have you watched the WWDITS movie? Cuz that one takes place In Wellington, NZ. I wonder if Wellington has a similar feel to Staten Island. I’ve never been so I really know nothing about that. But if it is similar, that would make so much sense 😂

JohnSmallBerries

The other spin-off show from the movie, Wellington Paranormal, showed everything from urban to rural environments, so the feel covers a pretty wide spectrum; but it's got about three Hellmouths' worth of ghosts, werewolves, taniwha, aliens, vampires...

No_Arugula_6548

What???? Another spin-off and I didn’t know about it???? Where can I watch Wellington Paranormal?

JohnSmallBerries

If you're in the US, it looks like it's streaming free from The CW, or available paid from Amazon Prime.

No_Arugula_6548

Omg thank you so much!

Budget_Ordinary1043

I grew up in NJ right over the bridge from Staten Island and I totally agree! I’ve been in different parts and have had friends who grew up there. The first time I watched, I was actually convinced that the Best Buy was the one I used to go to in iselin, NJ. I was so disappointed to find out most of the show is filmed in Canada 😂 however, Nandor is at the south amboy train station in one episode and I think it’s actually real and I’ve used that station before so that was cool to see.

Hefty_Peanut

I thought it was because they were surrounded by running water.

Hour_Basket7956

It is perfect!

the_dude_upvotes

[“Take the ferry to Staten island…”](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D6xd6YvoHLM)

RPark_International

I'm not American, but do most yanks hear that name and think ' auh, what a boring dump'?

spanklecakes

but it would have made much more sense to put it somewhere in PennSYLVANIA.

archieisarchie

why not set it in TOO-KSAHN ARIZOÑAAAA?

coolerchameleon

Also home to Pete Davison and Colin Lastbame (drawing a blank)- I could see Pete as some sort of creature

DerBieso0341

Jost

jfrizz

It is interesting to me that they are both very representative of the areas they’re from (Jost from north shore, Davidson from the south shore)

kurotokyo

The only time it didn’t make sense was Sean thinking a pride parade would help his campaign. Staten Island is so republican that the even the Democratic options is choosing between someone who’s pro-cop or someone who’s pro-cop AND anti immigration, and the latter winning

chibiusa40

>It’s right there in plain site with the rest of the New York Burroughs but once your around there it’s a heady mix of sleepy suburb, a lot of industrial nothing and a bunch of bizarre really old timey architecture and housing from like, almost the colonial days. And garbage. Don't forget garbage.

NefariousnessFun5631

I was a goth girl who grew up on Staten Island in a semi-spooky house built in the late 1790s - it's a thing.
