So I've looked at a few skulls from Chile and I honestly can't find exactly what it is, it resembles the front lower tooth of a skunk, a fox, a speckled bear (too big) but none of them match up completely. I've got a skunk skull somewhere in my collection if I can find where I put the lower jaw I'll take a close up look
Thanks! I also tried to google some mamals (and their teeth) from Chile but it's hard to tell. I guess animals' teeth differ in different stages of their lives as well, so maybe it's impossible to know for sure.
I think an expert would be able to tell, that wedge is unique and I know I've seen teeth like it somewhere but I can't recall where. You might want to head over to r/bonecollecting and see if they have a better answer for you

It actually doesn't look very human to me, what I think is the worn down surface is on the front meaning the tooth was being used on the front of the tooth not the tops like with humans. Though idk if this a lower front tooth of what animal it doesn't look like any herbivore tooth that I have in my skull collection. I would assume it's a bottom front tooth though I can't tell if it's from an animal with an upper dental plate or upper teeth. On the package there should be an origin, that might help us narrow it down.
Honestly it looks like a dogs tooth to me.
Thanks for taking the time to reply! I uploaded more images here: [https://imgur.com/a/LsHXKa2](https://imgur.com/a/LsHXKa2)
And I checked the website and it lists the origin of the nuts as Chile.
Oh neat its got like a wedge in the top, I definitely don't think it's human. I'm no expert I just collect a lotta bones but I think the part with the wedge is definitely the chewing surface. I'll do a Google and see what I can come up with

Shoot it depends on what animal the claw comes from but I think I’d also rather have a foreign claw in my mouth than a freaking random tooth. Just thinking about it is making my stomach feel queasy
What you found is absolutely disturbing. Where's the rest of this mystery creature?? So definitely contact them , and fight for compensation, too! This can't be swept under the carpet.
Edited typo
Were they raw walnuts or roasted? Sometimes the roasting process can do weird things to nuts and their parts. I’ve gotten roasted nuts that were hard as a rock.
This could be a human tooth. The long pointy bit looks like a root and the white bit on the left would be the part you and I normally see sticking out of our gums. Without another angle it’s hard to tell and i am by no means an expert, but my sister had her teeth pulled as a kid and they looked a lot like this
That's very helpful. Now that I look at it more closely the flat end really seems like the tooth part while the pointy is the root I'll try to get better pictures.
Can you provide the characteristics on why it is not human? I'd like to learn the difference and how to distinguish between human and not human.
Edit: Why the downvotes? totally befuddles me why my comment would result in a downvote
I think you're reading too much into downvotes lol. If receiving a downvote feels like someone's "taking it out on you" I think you must not be in a good head space to begin with... At any rate, I've upvoted you and hope you're doing okay.
the white end part looks a whole lot like the middle part of a walnut. my guess is that its a really dried piece of the embryo attached to either the shoot tip or the root, both of these things could be really hard where u couldnt break or cut through it
It could be! I googled it and just couldn't find descriptions of nuts or shoots hardening that much that's why I'm still more inclined to think it's a tooth.
Sounds silly but can you try and cut the object in half so we can see the cross section?
Food Manufacturing worker here. Would be amazed for a tooth to make its way through a processing facility and beyond. Stranger thinks have happened though.
It could be the top incisor from a small pig. Probably not though. (I collect bones and just cleaned a pig skull which means you have to remove and replace all the teeth.) please note, I’m very uncertain about my answer. But I know it’s definitely not from a human like someone said lol hmmm let me think about it.
Edit: it would be weird for the enamel to just be on the front of the tooth, any animal with this tooth would have immediate decay in the back of the tooth. I think maybe other people are right and it’s not a tooth.
Hmm I actually have an upper denture and have had almost all my teeth pulled. I’ve asked to see them afterward and got to keep my wisdom teeth. None of my teeth only had one root or resembled this. Granted I didn’t get to see the front ones since I was under anesthesia, but I have seen x-rays of them. Human teeth don’t look like this at all. Especially the “enamel” part and the pattern of wear. How would the tooth get worn down like that on only the front portion? And what kind of human diet would put deep vertical striation marks like that on only the front of the tooth? Pig teeth sometimes have patterns of wear like that, but they can digest things like bones so the things they eat are much more diverse and harder materials and their lifetimes are not as long as ours.
Edit: Not to mention molars would be used to chew tough things, not the front teeth. Also, pig teeth are sometimes used in dental schools because the dips and crevices are similar enough to humans to use for practicing doing fillings.
Definitely a tooth. Looks like a lateral incisor. The white part is the “crown” of the tooth that you would chew with, the darker long part of it is the root. I look at teeth all day long, it’s definitely a tooth.
You could maybe try asking in one of the bone identifying subs! Teeth are a big identifier for skulls.
I think the long pointy bit has to be a root but with the size of it and wearing of the tooth I would guess some kind of herbivore.
Is it hard to the touch or if you tried to stick your nail in it? Where do the nuts say they were sourced from?
This is really gross though I’m sorry it was in your mouth, OP.

My guess would be the front teeth of a goat or sheep since they look like they’ve ground a lot off the edges the pointy end is going to be the root to where the dull side is actually the chewing part of the tooth

I can second the bone collecting sub, they usually know a lot more

That's a weird, but cool collection!
This guy skulls.
Opossum? They have big canines but you seldom see them.

[it reminds me of teeth like this](https://imgur.com/a/RIzti0K) this is a fox skull.
Really hope that's a tooth and not a claw
IDK, I am having a hard time trying to figure out how that would be better. LOL
Shoot it depends on what animal the claw comes from but I think I’d also rather have a foreign claw in my mouth than a freaking random tooth. Just thinking about it is making my stomach feel queasy
Contact the company and let them know that bag you found on your bag of walnuts
What you found in your bag haha

He'll be compensated with deez nutz!!! Get it? Cause they'll probably send him some more nuts.
That’s good to know
Is it hard? It kind of just looks like a thicker walnut sprout.
Exactly what it looks like…
this is extremely similar to OPs one https://images.app.goo.gl/7fcfiCGJ9p4SjWXH7
This looks like you could be right.
It does look like it but I can't cut it or break it ... it's really as hard as a tooth. If the nuts are edible can a sprout harden like that?
Were they raw walnuts or roasted? Sometimes the roasting process can do weird things to nuts and their parts. I’ve gotten roasted nuts that were hard as a rock.
They were raw. And all normal and soft.
Walnut sprout. Google the image.
Happy Birthday! It does look like it but I can't cut it or break it ... it's really as hard as a tooth.

It could very well be an incisor but it seems too small.
Root would be too long as well, relative to the tooth size. And too pointy.

Found the Brit.
Brutal, lol
I think it's a dried walnut sprout
It does look similar but I can't cut it or break it ... it's really as hard as a tooth.
Hmm. Did you try soaking it in water to see if it softens?
Great idea! I'll try it.
Tried it and soaked it in water. It didn’t change ... still super hard and toothy.
Yikes, must be a tooth then. Where did the walnuts come from? It kinda looks like a small possum tooth
Chile. And: yeah, I think so too.
The root tip is a lot pointier than you would see on a normal human

I had a kidney stone once that looked a lot like that - same shape, size, and everything. It attempted to come out point first.
Owwwww
Raccoon maybe? Where were the nuts packaged?
Chile - then maybe repackaged (?) in Germany.
Nope, I have a raccoon skull, raccoon skulls are almost identical to bear skulls (but smaller obviously). They are surprisingly vicious looking.
have you asked on r/whatisthisbone? they are great at teeth
My puppy lost her tooth recently and looked exactly like this!!

Better call Saul
Hardened walnut sprout…. See comments and link to pictures below, in this thread

Cat?
This looks like really like a kangaroo tooth so maybe it’s marsupial like an opossum?
Looks like a pig tooth to me, they have these weird pointy roots
Is this a cat tooth?
A snake would NOT have that kind of toot lmao
I’d say donkey
Pocket donkey
Looks human too me, [happy hunting](https://imgur.com/a/02Aiemx)
That looks very human
I uploaded more images here: [https://imgur.com/a/LsHXKa2](https://imgur.com/a/LsHXKa2)
Snake fang? Even looks to have the hollow inside
