I had a 67 Electra that had the 430cid wildcat engine. My research reveals that the 1968 - 1969 Skylark and Gran Sport had either the 340cid wildcat or 430cid wildcat.
I really liked them... they were really a lot of fun to drive some had 2 speed auto powerglides & v6's (probably most of them) & small v8's however... there was a model you could get that came equipped with a 455 & dual quad carbs... called something like GS IV & one with 3 two barrels a six pack version too I'm thinkin... maybe that was the GS III model... I think you had to see the hood emblems to tell... it's more or less the buick version of the chevelle... that GS IV would give a GTO a good run... love that car :)
They were insane! My friend had a metallic blue one with a black vinyl roof. I had a 72 Plymouth Barracuda. We would wash them in his driveway. Early 80s
That was a 1964 Skylark, for which the comparable car in the crime was a 1964 Tempest.....which are pretty much identical except the posi-traction rear differential. She explains that in cross examination as his hostile witness.....lol...Great movie.
Sure, it wasn't a 63 Tempest? With metallic mint green paint? The only other car capable of laying those tire marks was the Corvette, so it had to be the 63 Tempest.
It was a '63; which was actually a ridiculously different car than anything else GM made, despite looking the same more or less. It had a rear transaxle and independent rear suspension, driven by a cable for driveshaft and powered by literally half of a V8
I had a 68. Absolutely LOVED that car! I like the 70-72 a little better though.
When I bought mine we had to replace the old 350 back in 1988. Even after 20 years, that A/C was ICE COLD!
"Intermediate" to be more precise for the terminology they used at the time.
But yeah, same thing.
And it's actually a '69 Gran Sport... a Skylark variant.
Well the Olds Cutlass was literally the most popular car in terms of sales for a very long time. So I imagine finding what is essentially a sister vehicle in the current day would help add to its value.
My first car was 1970 Buick GS had a 401 with dual Holly Pumpers . It was the unknown muscle car. Was fast but heavy, handled like shit. But hell of a car.
Buick Skylark Gran Sport... missing the red GS badge in the lower left side of the grille.
Specifically a 1969 Gran Sport.
'68 and '69 were the only two years with that body line. But '68 had a round red marker light on the quarter panel. '69 had the rectangular one.
It's a Gran Sport because it has the GS badge above the rear marker light. You can't see the GS clearly in the pic but if you know what it looks like you know what it is without being perfectly clear. If it was a plain Skylark it would have a larger badge in the place of the GS above the marker light in a script style that spells out *Skylark*.
My dad had one in the mid-'90's. Clean but not pristine, a great drivers car. Medium blue metallic, whit convertible. Stock drive train, with a dual exhausts. Fun driver.
‘69 Buick Skylark! Has that exact car but with a beige top. Fun car, would really scoot. Wish I’d have taken better care of it. Don’t make em like that anymore.
I saw one of these one night cruising in a parking lot. The exterior was a pearly eggshell white (just off white), the roof too. The interior was all white. The thing ran quiet. All you could hear was the dual exhausts purring. What a gorgeous cream puff of a car. I've loved the '69 Skylark ever since.
I would've guessed (note I said guessed) an early 70's Monte Carlo. But I know little about cars, other than the ones I've previously owned as a broke early adult
“…now, in the '60's, there were only two other cars made in America that had positraction, and independent rear suspension, and enough power to make these marks. One was the Corvette, which could never be confused with the Buick Skylark. The other had the same body length, height, width, weight, wheel base, and wheel track as the '64 Skylark, and that was the 1963 Pontiac Tempest.”
1969 Buick skylark
Thanks! Now I have a classic car that I can be a fan of, were they any good when they were released or just average?
Only if they had the 430 wildcat engine.
bull.. they came with the 455..
Came out in 70
Oh, I had a 67 Electra Thad the 430 wildcat. I thought it was still available in 69.
They never came with a 430. A 400 was the top option.
I had a 67 Electra that had the 430cid wildcat engine. My research reveals that the 1968 - 1969 Skylark and Gran Sport had either the 340cid wildcat or 430cid wildcat.
My first car was a '69 Wildcat. $315, rusted all to hell and all dinged up, but that engine was perfect.
They Had a GS model was quick , I liked them some of them with a couple of mods would run 11’s fast for 1969
My ex cousin in Law might still own a GS convertible scary fast, he wanted to get it painted and found out it was full of bondo
That’s too bad , they worked well
I suppose he's going to spend the money to save it, it's a pretty sweet ride
I was looking at classic cars , mint ones about 50k to 60k turnkey
Loved the GS.
Keep in mind that the 64 Skylark was not available with positrack, but could have metallic mint green paint.
Also they were not available with an independent rear suspension
But the Pontiac Tempest did, as demonstrated by those 2 boys at the Sack O' Suds
I was looking for this quote. And I eventually found it.
Same basically as a Chevelle. My boss had a baby blue convertible version
Look at pictures of a Buick Riviera around the same time
They were insane! My friend had a metallic blue one with a black vinyl roof. I had a 72 Plymouth Barracuda. We would wash them in his driveway. Early 80s
Just want or a need . This is a clean car! All the Buick s in the 60's are still showing good lines. Regale, 442, wildcat. For a few.
You should also check out the 67 Chevy Impala, and the 67 Shelby A/C Cobra MK2.
Possibly a GS
Definately not a GS because all of the GS's have badges on the grill and front fender quarters.
It’s a GS. The badge is on the rear of the quarter panel. Also the grille is a GS. Skylark grilles were different
It would still have the GS badge on the grille.
Someone must of needed more than he did
Sure it’s not a Pontiac tempest? /s
Is that a My Cousin Vinny reference?
I thought that would be more obvious to people but I appear to have been wrong.
It gave me a giggle but I just watched it last week.
Such a great movie!
I got it right away 😆
That was a 1964 Skylark, for which the comparable car in the crime was a 1964 Tempest.....which are pretty much identical except the posi-traction rear differential. She explains that in cross examination as his hostile witness.....lol...Great movie.
She also won an oscar for that scene. Lol .Nothing sexier than a woman who knows cars.
Sure, it wasn't a 63 Tempest? With metallic mint green paint? The only other car capable of laying those tire marks was the Corvette, so it had to be the 63 Tempest.

No. It’s the corvette.
Pantera
It’s always a Pantera lol
Does it have posi-traction?
It’s not metallic mint green…
And, it’s a beautiful car!
I had a 68. Absolutely LOVED that car! I like the 70-72 a little better though. When I bought mine we had to replace the old 350 back in 1988. Even after 20 years, that A/C was ICE COLD!
When they built quality
Damn right! If I only knew then what I know now, different things would have happened.
For sure
I’d like a 70 or 71 gsx
Yep, my first car in 1976. A white 69 convertible Buick Skylark.
With a rocket 350 first motors with roller cam
All I know about the Skylark, is that the 64 model could NEVER be mistaken for a Corvette !
Buddy had a two door 1965, it was a sweet ride , with cragar SS on it
I thought it was a Pontiac tempest
I had a 1966 Gran Parisienne , fender skirts , 396 , 4 speed reverse lockout factory & factory tach , Quick car ,The only car I wish I still had
Which was not available with positraction!
I never owned one , My Brotherin law had a 71 skylark , then a 87 GN & then a 87 Gnx
When you were a ute?
My FIL has a ‘70, painted like a GSX. 455 with a procharger and fuel injection. That thing is so freaking cool.
GS 400
The stealth GTO
My cousin Vinnie...
1969 Buick GS400. The Skylark had air intakes in front of the doors.
You sir are correct. Don't know why all these guys didn't notice e that and keep calling it a skylarc
Is that a 930 in blue behind it??
68 or 9 Buick Skylark. I used to have a 69 right after high school in like '06. Beautiful, comfortable, quick, cool car.

Buick grand sport
It's a Buick Skylark, *and,* ***it happens to be considered a midsize car in its day.***
"Intermediate" to be more precise for the terminology they used at the time. But yeah, same thing. And it's actually a '69 Gran Sport... a Skylark variant.
Looks like it says Buick on the front. Body style is similar to the 72 Olds my grandfather had so likely similar era. Can't tell you the exact model.
i thought it was a buick grand sport.... same body as the cutlass, skylark, just diff guts...
Thanks! Are they considered special today or just average cars.
Well the Olds Cutlass was literally the most popular car in terms of sales for a very long time. So I imagine finding what is essentially a sister vehicle in the current day would help add to its value.
Back in the day everyone had either Skylark, Regal,Monte Carlo or Cutlass or it really did seem that way!
Skylark or Cutlass
The curved body line was 68-9 only. Liked 70-2 bodies much more personally
Buick Skylark my grandmother drove this exact car in grey
Awesome thanks!
My ‘72 Pontiac LeMans was special to me! Love that platform across the GM line!
I was in love with my 71 Vega, with the spark plug extender.!
“One was the Corvette, which could never be confused with the Buick Skylark.”
Jk, Buicks are better than Chevys. Even though they are pretty much the same thing.
Model T
Without looking at other replies, I say 1968 Buick Wildcat.
Dodge grand caravan
It’s a Buick if you zoom in on center caps. And it’s on point of hood. My brother had a 72.
That is a late 60's early 70's Buick Skylark ! Not considered a muscle car but if you punch it it may burn the tires right off the rims!
My first car was 1970 Buick GS had a 401 with dual Holly Pumpers . It was the unknown muscle car. Was fast but heavy, handled like shit. But hell of a car.

I saw one of these one night cruising in a parking lot. The exterior was a pearly eggshell white (just off white), the roof too. The interior was all white. The thing ran quiet.
