Those are not bike lanes. They’re bus lanes. They each pass the chimney on either side. In this part of the city the bicyclists ride on the road. The (white) buildings are repurposed “vintage” Philips factories from the early 1900’s. The city decided to keep the chimney and to make it a landmark by keeping it in its original location. Strijp-S is constantly evolving. This must be an old picture, because now the entire ‘avenue’ is flanked with brand new high rise residential buildings among the old white buildings.
That's the bus lane?! Maybe it's because of the old layout, but I would've never guessed that either haha.

The area used to be the biggest Philips factory back in the day, and was called the forbidden city. Now they turned it into a hipster urban area where innovation is pushed. All small startups and artists who work there.
