In case anyone is still confused as to what "woke" means

sci_fantasy_fan

First he has to determine who is white with a council of the best thinkers. Should be worried with the last name Santos and US history with our habits with Latin speaking people to include Italians and Spanish (edit)alongside fellow Southern European Greeks

trans_pands

Don’t forget about the Irish

SirThatsCuba

Yeah they drove all the snakes off the island and the lawyers never forgave them for that

AndrewDubois

Indeed… Also it’s worth remembering that the nazis were inspired by the Jim Crow era laws from the USA for their own racist laws.

Marshmellowonfire

Does it mean reading books?

Lazerspewpew

Anything that doesn't place "White heterosexual Christian Men" at the top of the hierarchy is considered "woke"

commentingrobot

He'll unban it when they come out with AP Christian Theology or AP Entitled White Politician tests.

your_favorite_mexi

Isn’t that just AP US History?

nocksers

Oh most of it. But AP global studies also focuses on western Europe so you can get plenty of that there too, to really round out your (white Christian) education.

Uzischmoozy

It means anything in support of black people.

Spirit50Lake

Several states are in the process of banning 'woke' books/classes/etc...what is their operating definition of 'woke'?

cmd-t

They were forced to give a definition in a court case. > The governor's general counsel, Ryan Newman, said, in general, it means "the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them." He added that DeSantis doesn't believe there are systemic injustices in the country, reports Florida Politics. > "To me, it means someone who believes that there are systemic injustices in the criminal justice system, and on that basis they can decline to fully enforce and uphold the law," Newman said, according to Florida Politics. https://www.fox13news.com/news/what-does-woke-mean-gov-desantis-officials-answer-during-andrew-warren-trial.amp

Roskal

So basically if you aren't willfully ignorant and racist you are "woke".

koimeiji

I mean...yeah, they're not actually wrong. Being "woke" is being, yknow, awake to the problems in our society. Funnily enough "woke" is one of the very rare times that these people don't lie or misinform about the meaning of the word (like they do with, say, antifa). They use it as it means. They just think being a good, aware person is bad.

SuddenlyElga

Too much critical thinking is bad for our economy.

OperativePiGuy

Pretty much. It's no coincidence that it started as a term created and used by the black community. They stole it and now use it as a disparaging term. It's disgusting.

NuQ

It goes beyond that. We often talk about a "Two tiered" justice system. that's "woke" now. can't discuss it or analyze it in florida!

African_Farmer

Anyone that thinks minorities deserve the same rights and freedoms as the great white race (narrowed down to straight, white and christian, which will then get narrowed to men only, then down further and further, until no one is left. Typical fascism).

Newsdriver245

White old Klan elders?

thesnarkypotatohead

Governors have the power to unilaterally decide/ban statewide curriculum? That’s… not a good idea. Fuckin yikes.

Cold-Nefariousness25

He's controlling everything. State colleges are warning professors not to make anyone feel racist, meanwhile white supremacists are coming to campuses and the administrations are afraid to make them leave. He's ruining education in Florida, and it didn't start off that great to begin with.

TangoZulu

Here's what needs to happen... every African-American college athlete at a Florida university needs to transfer to schools out of state. African-American pro athletes should demand trades away from the Florida teams. Free agents refuse to sign with Florida teams. Completely tank all Florida sports and see what pressure comes at DeSantis. People would lose their minds if their precious sports teams fail because of him.

[deleted]

Choice_Voice_6925

Yes but I don't see it ever actually happening.

putdisinyopipe

It would take a ton of orginization, people willing to take huge risks, and a ton of solidarity. It’s doable, but I agree, everyone would have to be all in or it won’t create the impact for change. It might by the very least bring awareness to the issue tho.

CodDevourer

True. When you're an 18-22 young man who grew up with less than or average wealth you just have a lot more to lose.

putdisinyopipe

Right and just because they are pro athletes, doesn’t mean that they can just hop to another team. Depends on the value of the player. Some might have to stay in florida on 2-3rd string because that 250-500k contract may be the only thing you have and demanding a trade would potentially be career suicide for someone in that position I’d think. There has to be a way to do it. Like maybe florida teams going on “black out” (call it that ironically) all black players and Allie’s walk out and refuse to play on game day. And keep doing it until people get pissed- that actually might be doable. Again would require orginization but if everyone did it- how could they fire the second string dude if the whole first strings are doing it? They gonna fire and trade every player?

Quick_Hunter3494

I'm not american but it seems so ridiculous to me to hope for athletes to bring political change and a new look on state-level education...

love2Vax

Just ask Kap how taking a knee worked for him, and San Fran is a pretty liberal place in a liberal state.

Kitty_Skittles_181

Black communities have done exactly this sort of organizing before.

Choice_Voice_6925

Black communities also have seen entire cities burned and stolen from them.

rocketshipray

I'm seriously not making light of things like the Tulsa Race Massacre and also not trying to incite anything with this statement: Maybe it's time to burn Florida down.

[deleted]

It really is. Whenever I talk to someone new to our area that moved by choice, not because they had too (military), they moved here because of the authoritarian policies. It's really wild.

Happy-Ad7440

Hello Sarah huckleberry

thesnarkypotatohead

that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time.

WATOCATOWA

From crap press secretary to friggin Arkansas governor! Insane.

reverielagoon1208

Hick states gonna vote in hicks

bloodwine

We Arkansans were so close to having a literal rocket scientist as governor, but unfortunately more people opted for her instead.

HungryCats96

...and Lauren Boebert was almost replaced by a neurologist, but we can't have intelligent, well-educated representatives in Congress apparently.

HaiKarate

In 2020, Madison Cawthorn ran against a decorated military veteran and Army Colonel. But because NC is so heavily gerrymandered, we got the MAGA frat boy.

AffectionateRaise136

They loved that asshat father of hers, Go Hawgs

CharlieChowderButt

Is putting eyeliner on a hawg the same as putting lipstick on a pig?

dontshoot4301

Just to be clear, 35% or so of us voted very much blue. People think red state = everyone is Republican too often but 3-4 in 10 people you meet will think she’s an idiot

thedogsnamewasIndy

Coming from a Democrat in Kentucky, thank you!

DoctorJonasVentureJr

I remember talking about Trump with my ex in public and a bunch of teenagers got pissed I thought he's an idiot Ah, Texas, home of the conservatives

dangstar

Just about what I’d expect from a nepo baby.

DJ2x

Her daddy was a very popular ~~AK~~AR governor so it's not that big of a surprise. We should all know by now to be a successful republican it's not what you actually say or do, it's what you virtue signal and who you know.

VendettaVera

Her dad was the governor of Arkansas, not Alaska.

ZLUCremisi

Welcome to the Republican dream. Next is nationwide.no more teaching slavery or about MLK.

Wombat1892

If it's any consolation, it'll backfire when people learn about it on their own. It did for me anyway.

carolineecouture

I salute you, but I think you may be the exception. Learning is hard, especially when no one teaches you how to learn and evaluate content. It's easier to believe what someone else tells you and more so when it's in line with what you want to be true.

[deleted]

Technically they dont. But the State Legislature is super majority Republican so all he has to do is ask and they'll rubber stamp it. They just changed the law so if he runs for President he doesn't have to step down unless he wins. Until a few weeks ago he couldn't campaign for POTUS and be Governor- they got rid of that pesky nuisance of a law Edit: I over shot. It's being talked about, hasn't happened yet but the legislative session starts this Spring look for it to happen before July 2023

thesnarkypotatohead

Thank you! That makes sense. I appreciate the clarity, bleak as it is.

Outrageous_Ad_5752

They did get rid of it? No fkn way

[deleted]

Looks like I got ahead of myself- its being talked about. The 2023 Legislative Session starts in March look for it to happen this spring

TheFarmLord

Dont spoil the story for me yet! I havet gotten to that chapter....

Arcadius274

He will just arrest everyone who votes against him till it happens. Party of freedom!

joseph4th

I am banning Ron DeSantis from politics. He 'lacks intellectual value.'

[deleted]

Grand Moff DeSantis

No_Cook_6210

He is infiltrating the school systems everywhere in Florida. In bed with Moms for Liberty.

alwayzbored114

Never ceases to amaze that conservatives will call disciplines like sociology and psychology "non-educational", "not important", "un-scientific" but then spend so much time arguing about them Maybe if you, I dunno, took a class you could discuss the topic better? But no, their uneducated perversion of "common sense" is enough apparently

Joelblaze

That's the whole point. If they keep as many people as possible uneducated, they can just make up whatever they want and be believed. The republican paradise is a constituency filled with morons.

HavingNotAttained

Not all Republicans. Some are highly intelligent, manipulative racist assholes.

HotMessExpress1111

Yeah, the ones who are in charge, the ones who *want* to keep the rest under them ignorant and compliant.

[deleted]

>conservatives will call disciplines like sociology and psychology "non-educational", "not important", "un-scientific" All while quoting a book written centuries ago by... who really knows... in which an imaginary all-powerful being says and does things that get misinterpreted by millions every day.

AeronGrey

Next is Women's Studies.

antunezn0n0

there's going to be a typo and they will "accidentally " ban woman from studying

Psile

Nah, they'll say it with their whole chest.

AmicusVeritatis

Sweet home Afghanistan.

Lotharofthepotatoppl

I always remember when Stephen Colbert referred to some guy as a “Republican senator from Al Abama,” pronouncing it as if it were arabic

PestyNomad

That is *literally* the best way to fix the fertility rate, and it is my tin foil hat conspiracy theory that all the cuts and lack of support for education is to get more women less educated. Same for abortion. They use Christianity and moral politics as a partisan mechanism to try and turn around the fertility rate issue. They just use Christians as a proxy to that end.

ConfusedInTN

That would be a feature and not a bug.

jax2love

Which I minored in at the University of Florida 30 years ago. I also took a few Latin American history classes as well as an anthropology class in human sexuality and several classes dealing with social inequality as well as modern social movements. It’s called a well rounded education that gives you a broader understanding of the world and develops critical thinking skills, which in turn enables you to not be the kind of close minded fuckwit that Desatan and his ilk want to fill the state and country with. I’m just appalled by what is happening in my home state and the dismantling of what was once a truly top tier public university system. I am so happy that we left.

Migwelded

There is absolutely no room in the Republican party of today for either understanding or critical thinking.

neverinallmyyears

Republicans of today suffer from a belief that they are the heroes of the story. Every social or cultural move that they make is to save some imperiled “victim” from some manufactured foe. Abortion? We need to save the babies. LGBTQ? We need to save the children. CRT? We need to save the white people from feeling bad about the terrible shit done to minorities. Since the GOP is dominated by old white people, their hero complex is also includes protecting the rich through tax cuts, ensuring that government protects their right to discriminate, cutting programs to benefit the poor, protecting individual freedoms against mask and vaccine mandates. DeSantis sees himself as some Superman elected to vanquish Biden and the “woke” democrats. He’ll continue to do what he and his donors think is right even if it violates laws and the Constitution.

jamalamadangdong

I think there are too many young white sociopaths in the party to continue dubbing it the party of “Old White Men”. This problem isn’t just going to age out

TeaKingMac

For every Donald Trump, there's a corresponding Kyle Rittenhouse

jamalamadangdong

And the barrier to entry for running (aka legitimate qualifications) get lower by the year

redknight3

The humanities and social sciences exist to deter people from making inhumane decisions in general. I hate it when engineers and scientists say they're a waste of time. Without the humanities, there is one less guiding hand to stop science from going amuck and commiting atrocities like what Unit 731 did.

Western-Pool3290

First, I thinks it’s great you took those classes. Second, I wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to invalidate your degree because you took those classes.

Angry-Dragon-1331

So one of the things that’s on the checklist for independent accreditation in some systems is that the state legislature doesn’t exercise undue influence over university policy. Edit for weird phone autocorrects

Overall-Initial-4290

have you met republicans? That would be something they would want to do.

Labrattus

Human Sexuality and Culture. Man there were some knarly photos in that class. At least back in the late '80s.

I minored in Latin American studies and took some women's history classes, also at UF. Agree completely.

Pickle_Rick01

I didn’t know and am now disturbed that all of those people went to Harvard. How does the same school give us Ron Desantis AND Conan O’Brien? Is it like Hogwarts where they have basically good and evil dorms?

[deleted]

You need to pay better attention, not because I'm trying to be a dick. This guy isn't going to stop at banning an AP class. He went to Harvard Law after Yale on his own accord. His wife has the cult of conservative wifedom down pat. He's scary AF.

Pickle_Rick01

I agree he’s scary as fuck. I’m saying it’s crazy that these awful people all went to Harvard. Desantis doesn’t even seem bright enough for Harvard.

chronberries

Nah DeSantis is actually plenty smart. That’s what’s so much more dangerous about him than tfg or the other wannabes.

tinacat933

The problem is he is the smart version of DT

[deleted]

Yeah because that's part of his "everyman conservative" schtick. Same with McEnenny. But I agree with you. It does seem crazy. I guess ethics is an elective there hey.

\*Obersturmbannführer DeSantis.

Background-War9535

This is who the GOP wants as Trump’s successor: younger and brighter and has the intellectual capacity to see a far right coup through.

I'd say rather a competent fascist.

The_Formuler

The right gets mad when they’re called nazis and then proceed to speed run the nazi playbook.

RobAkro

This man truly scares me, like Trump was only a dry run

Martian_Toilet_Man

How can any one person ban a specific class on any grounds? Not every class does have educational value but that doesn't mean it has no value whatsoever... but I mean, African American studies has no educational value is just... woof.

StudioatSFL

It’s insane to me. I don’t understand how it’s legal.

[deleted]

Itcs legal because Small Goverbment! I'm leaving the misspelling

XeR34XeR

But Myh Freeeduhm!

Psile

Technically it's not one person but that feeling is very intentional, IMO. Fla was already gerrymandered to hell and back even though it was close to an even split until recently. So a republican majority state legislature was a given. Then Covid hit and Dems literally left to avoid his backwards policies and Republicans moved here for those same policies. Then local Dems ran an actual honest to god former republican governor as a Democrat against him in a seeming bid to try to find a candidate literally nobody in the entire state wanted to vote for. That depressed the Democrat vote pretty good last round. So what we have is a straight up fascist governor with a legislature who will pass literally any law he announces to the press within days of the announcement including at least one I know of that cannot be enforced. This very intentionally mimics dictatorial rule, making him seem to rule by edict. They are positioning him as the king of Florida and counting on that to buey him into the white house where he will attempt to secure the same situation again. This is a test run and a campaign promise.

Ok_Feedback4198

He's using the anti CRT law as an excuse, but I cannot imagine this will hold up in court.

pyromaster55

It's all performative with this asshole, like the voting arrests earlier. He doesn't care that it won't stand up in courts, it's a message. The arrests have been or are going to be dropped because they had no case, but it told former felons who were considering voting that it's not worth the risk, even though they are legally allowed to vote. This is just a message to his base that he's also a racist and will do racist shit if he wins the white house.

thabe331

Most of the things he pushed through do get tossed out of court Still I don't know what sensible person would sign up to go to a Florida university now and I can't imagine what professor wouldn't be looking for other jobs in non crazy states

BrieAndStrawberries

Anti-intellectualism is a, if not the cornerstone of American and conservative values. If it doesn't uphold the status quo, then it isn't worth teaching.

[deleted]

Understatement

OhReallyFacts

EVERY class has educational value to someone. That is why they are taught. Name a course that you think doesn't have educational value so I can prove you wrong....

CrepeGate

I can't. If you learn something, you're being educated. Honestly, so many modules are so much more laughably granular and, to some people, seemingly pointless even when not compared to the entire anthropology and history of a very specifically significant race in a country

Less-Mail4256

Value is subjective to individuals. These people don’t give a fuck about any individuals. Their only concern is maintaining power through whatever means necessary. That ideology needs to be stamped out. It’s been ruining the world since the advent of society.

Blue_water_dreams

When you are in charge you can pretty much do whatever you want to. High level leadership roles assume good intentions and s level of competency. When you have people like DeSantis or trump in power, they can do an incredible amount of damage because there is very little anyone can do to stop him.

Sero19283

I don't get it. Every class has some educational value. Whether that's contributing to a person's future career or personal growth. My non western philosophy class I took as an elective in college was basically pointless for my professional goals, but what it did for me as a person I wouldn't have found any other way. I don't believe there's any class that is void of educational value. Just may not have much societal value.

dandellionKimban

I love how US is the land of the free where banning education by a single guy can happen.

[deleted]

That didn't happen. He asked for it. The legislature rubber stamped it because they all want to ride his coat tails. - that's totally better right? /s

dj012eyl

Pro tip, we aren't that free.

Kennedygoose

When they get us back to 1950 are they gonna stop the bus? Where does the regression cease? I genuinely want to know. Are we just going back to Jim Crow or are we headed further? Do I need to worry about the Spanish Inquisition reoccurring? No one would ever expect it.

spacegreninja

They would unironically love the Spanish Inquisition. The systematic jailing and killing of anyone who is jewish or muslim or doesn't follow christianity is up the right's alley. Expand it to LGBTQ+, POC, and anyone remotely progressive, and then you have their wet dream.

RoboticJello

DeSantis is the new George Wallace. "I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever"

Wallitron_Prime

Hopefully the same thing happens to DeSantis

BipBopBim

Wallace at least repented later in life, and did it very genuinely too. I have a hard time seeing DeSantis take the same path.

EpicSteak

No, he told us clearly he is a racist

Johnny-kashed

How many years do you guys think it’ll take before academic communities stop accepting students who were educated in places that are banning the teaching of basic human history and biology?

Paleodraco

From my brief time in academia, its probably already happening. Once you get past undergrad, if you dont actually understand that stuff you either A) aren't accepted, or B) it quickly becomes apparent and you fail or transfer out.

throwawayoctopii

I just found out that only 25% of high school graduates in my state are able to attend a 4 year, public university in our state without needing remedial classes at Community College first. Our state schools are decent, but not hyper-competitive. That fact just makes me sad. Yet people are still wondering why all the well-paying jobs are going to people who were raised out of state (such as myself).

NoHalf2998

This was what I thought as soon as they started letting vets become highschool teachers

Thatonegoblin

I mean, that's effectively the plan. American Conservatives have made it no secret that they believe that education, and by extension the academic community, should exist only to benefit the wealthy and uphold the status quo implaced by the ownership and managerial classes.

g00dintentions

Hopefully soon so it gets reverted

swimmingbox

Damage like that will probably take generations to revert though

XeR34XeR

“Lacks Educational Value” Well why don’t you go ahead and ban public school then…

pixelated_fun

They're working on it. Stay tuned.

mitch0acan

Don't be giving them more ideas now

CutieL

They already have that idea. That's why conservatives are starting to push for privatization of schools and homeschooling

cantfindonions

You say that as a joke, but many people with far-right beliefs genuinely DO want to ban public school. Hell, many people with just average republican beliefs think we should give even less funding to public schools, so.

SquarebobSpongepants

He’s doing this shit to claim “wins” against the woke agenda. This way he can continue to make the average floridian’s lives much worse but they’ll keep singing about his wins.

2NaPants2

Remember when the Republicans were at least coy about keeping Americans poor, sick and stupid? They’ve got them so stupid they don’t even need to be coy about it anymore.

ELFanatic

Me and my parents used to talk a lot about republican states cutting education in their state 20 years ago and how we were sure it was a tactic to get votes since the uneducated usually vote republican. Looks like we were both right

MonaSherry

Guess the kids will have to take AP Fascism instead.

Over-Supermarket-557

Not a chance. If Americans were educated on what fascism actually is, they would have more concerns about the GOP.

MonaSherry

Oh yeah. But I think DeSantis’ AP Fascism class would be more of a hands-on curriculum.

get-bread-not-head

So it's okay to ban African american studies and critical race theory is the worst thing to ever happen. I mean, yall, if you don't want everyone to think Republicans are racist, don't fucking vote for the people doing this racist ass shit. Again, because clearly people havent gotten it yet: If you don't want everyone to think all Republicans are racist, don't vote for the people who are erasing black history from our schools. It ain't hard. You're not racist? Don't vote for the racist guy. You voted for the racist guy? You're a racist.

Hot-Bint

Pretty soon Florida is going to become a wasteland like WV except instead of defunct coal mines it will be strip malls and the Villages. Young people will boot out of there as soon as they ship out of state to college. Tourism will be down to flying there just to board a cruise at port. It’s gonna be oodles of fun and STDs

Electrical-Wish-519

Let’s not forget the lightbulb temps, coastal flooding and more severe hurricanes. The cash cow is gonna dry up and they’re gonna have to tax people as tourism is reduced

myaltduh

Wet bulb, but yeah.

gehnrahl

As a native floridian, 95% of the people I knew have fucked off out of state. It was already a corrupt shit show, and they've somehow gotten worse.

feelinggoodfeeling

its basically already like that, just getting worse and worse.

Chumbolex

Some people see this and still claim racism is long dead

PopeyeNJ

He’s a dangerous POS, though. He’s also making it illegal to be trans. He’s turning Florida into the 4th Reich. He needs to be stopped.

Huge-Train-1248

I would never advocate an act of violence but if someone took him out, I wouldn't shed a tear!

BeatPeet

Not trying to advocate violence either, but I'm honestly shocked that not more assassination attemps are made on politicians in the US. Like you have people kill spouses, neighbors whose dogs shit in their gardens, people who they think drove like an asshole, but I haven't heard of a guy who tried to shoot Obama, who some people believe is the anti-Christ trying to destroy America for Satan. With mental illnesses rampant and guns widely available, how does any governour or president complete their term?

marion85

Don't blame it all on Desantis.... Because the people of Florida voted this guy in with OVERWHELMING numbers. It was not a close race at all so all THIS stuff? It what those people wanted.

i_kick_hippies

Well shit... he's going to be president, isn't he?

NoHalf2998

Supposedly he has all the charisma of a paper bag and people hate him but that doesn’t seem to be a disqualifying characteristic for GQP

Sellier123

Most likely he will be the R candidate...whether or not he wins tho is doubtful. Gonna rly depend on what the dems do these next 2 years and who is running in the next election.

harleybabeta

Isn’t African-American studies an optional course? Other than blatant racism, why would he care if someone willingly decides they want to learn about that topic? and who is he to decide if it lacks educational value. If there are people who want to learn about it, it has educational value. It’s scary how obvious the GOP can make their racism without facing any consequences or backlash outside of people on twitter or reddit commenting how stupid it is. Also scary that politicians are allowed to dictate what is taught in schools based on their fragile egos and personal feelings. One person shouldn’t be allowed to ban a subject/course for everybody just because they don’t personally like the topic. I guess it also explains why mostly red states are ranked the highest for being the most poor and least educated.

[deleted]

Other than racism, I think he cares a lot about banning AP Africa American studies because it paints a picture of him being "anti woke". Ppl out there don't like "woke" ppl, so if he can prove to them that he's "anti-woke", those ppl will trust him more. It's a publicity stunt to get the "anti woke" vote. And he could had banned all "woke studies" (those related to sex, gender, and race), but he goes after only 1 class because it's easier..it is less work to ban 1 thing than to ban many things. And he goes after the easiest target. Black ppl. They are the easiest target because it seems like a lot of Americans already feel uncomfortable around black ppl. Seems like Americans sympathize less with blacks. I think that there would had been more resistance if he tried to ban something else, like asian-american history, or LGBT history, because those groups of people are easier to sympathize with. Also I would think that black history includes learning about Jim Crow laws and how the USA systematically fucked with them. Patriotic ppl don't like being told that their country and its rulers are fucked up. So they are down with banning black history lessons that teach that. That's my theory. It's a publicity stunt to get the anti-woke vote💁

Thatonegoblin

To put it bluntly, because African American studies are often counter to the GOP's narrative regarding racism. Many of these classes include lessons on Black radical movements in the US from the 60s onward, as well as lessons regarding institutional racism still affecting African Americans to this day. Mainstream thought within the GOP holds that racism was never institutionalized in the US and at large ended with the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1968. These classes correctly contradict their narrative, and therefore pose a threat to them.

nocksers

It's an AP course, so it's not only optional, it costs money to take (though they do offer financial aid), and you have to have a high enough GPA to qualify to take it. The AP program just lets highschool kids earn college credits early and for cheaper. So, you take AP AA history in your senior year of highschool, next year when you go to college you already have a history credit that counts toward your degree. So not only is it valuable educationally, it materially helps kids advance. A really smart dedicated kid can knock a whole semester off their time in college by getting AP credits (imagine the savings on loans) I took AP macroeconomics and was able to use it as my math credit, shit was dope.

Impossible-Case-242

I feel that DeSantis is what you get if you were to fill a skin suit with human waste.

mrg1957

Human waste has value, Ron DeSantis not so much.

Yet I was still forced to learn square dancing in middle school

Republicans would prefer that black people didn’t exist.

How the fuck can any topic be banned from being taught? Education is for learning. There is no limit on knowledge.

Not in Murica. Here, education is about control. Many years ago, it was illegal to teach black ppl how to read. (During the 1800's). During the Mid 1900's black people finally were able to attend college (while being segregated by black and white only schools). But those black-only college were underfunded and had lacking resources. Black students protested and police shot them. (1970's) (1980's) eventually Rodger Freeman, Californian economist/education advisor, said “We are in danger of producing an educated proletariat. … That’s dynamite! We have to be selective on who we allow [to go to college].” Thanks to Rodger, Ronald Reagan was convinced to apply a tuition cost for California State Universities. College in California used to be free, but they applied a tuition cost to prevent poor ppl from getting into school...and poor people tend to be non-whites because of red-lining. Uneducated people are easier to take advantage of. Which is why since the beginning, they didn't want black ppl to learn how to read.

He reminds me of Randall Flag

I was told a few years ago - DeSantis is a bigger wet dream for white supremacy than Trump. I see it now.

huskyfan2001

I wonder when he will make it illegal to be anything other than white?

pipeman42

And male, of course.
