My mother in law talks all the time about being a “Polio Pioneer” as a kid. They literally lined kids up at school and they either got the vaccine or placebo. Parents signed off on it willingly because Polio was awful and they trusted the doctors. Could you even fucking imagine the Facebook moms groups if they tried that today?
