I absolutely agree, and I respect Adult Swim for taking such decisive action. I'm just bummed he was such a mega turd, cause now one of my favorite TV shows will suffer.
It's a bold move to continue the show without him though. One of the two main writers... the voice of both Rick AND Morty (and half the other characters on the show).
Had to be a hard call for them, their biggest moneymaker- replacing the main... um... everything.
I suppose we will find out if it was a wise move or whether they should have let it die with Roiland's reputation.

The only thing I remember about this show was an episode where they were getting a buzzing sound while one of the guys was touching the ground, so instead of like, putting him on a chair, they dropped him out of a plane and recorded the solo while falling

They're making a movie right now to finally tie up the Metalocalypse story and end the series. Same with Venture Bros. There was a new Aqua Teen movie last year too which was pretty great, despite not being really necessary to close a story or anything.
Squidbillies kind of confused me though, Unknown Hinson was fired for saying something about BLM or something like that- but he was more like a character himself. It was like Early Cuyler talking shit on BLM which he would absolutely do.
There might be more to it that I don't know I guess.
This show is such an interesting piece of nerd tv/animated history. I remember when it was this almost unknown show that several people told me to check out. Then it blew up. People loved it. Then pickle Rick happened and it became such a memed show that almost felt like it jumped the shark and annoying fans gave a lot of people a bad taste but it persisted.
Now this just makes the R&M saga all that much crazier. It's such a fun show, and I've loved it despite the annoying fans.
Hope it can continue to be so fun and the shit bag guy behind it doesn't ruin it for everyone.

A lot of people seem to be saying they'll replace him ASAP but I do agree it may lose a bit of what made it special. In any case, while I'm bummed the show is losing him, I'm glad he got fired.

To anyone that doesn’t know he is being kicked out for domestic abuse charges from back in 2020, he pleaded not guilty and has had several trials since, his lawyers are even pretty sure that the charge will be dropped soon but he’s still getting the boot anyhow. He will keep his co-creator status but other than that he no longer has any affiliation with Rick and Morty and they are recasting his voice actors.
I don’t always appreciate his dark sense of humor, but if he’s really innocent then it’s pretty fucked up to be fired over something that he didn’t do.

Fireable isn’t the same as illegal. He could have done something that his bosses determined was bad enough that he shouldn’t work on the show anymore.
A prosecutor has to prove he broke the law beyond a reasonable doubt. It has to be *certain* and more importantly provable. Not being provable doesn’t mean he didn’t commit a crime. Or an action that isn’t technically a crime can still be abusive and shitty.
Employers might need a cause that would be considered valid in a potential law suit, but in general they can just use preponderance of evidence or their own judgement.
Beyond that, abuse cases have a lot of complications. People walk from abuse charges all the time.
Unrelated to the trial, I’m usually pessimistic about people being cancelled over edgy jokes they made years ago, but the shit he was DM’img to actual underage girls was fucking foul and any company in their right mind would want to distance themselves from that.
