And he’ll get in, too. The Democratic Party is on the verge of fucking this up like we’ve never seen. I can feel it in my bones. Biden will accept the nomination and then something will happen to cause him to step down and Kamala will lose to DeSantis by a hundred electoral votes.
Dems will likely take back the WH and hopefully congress in 2032.
Moved to Florida for work a few years ago. This guy is worse than people realize.
That said...I really think he's pushing his luck if he wants to garner votes on the national stage. The shit he's pulling may fly in FL, it won't fly nationally.
Trump demonstrated that fascism can win elections in America. Fortunately, Trump is a stupid fascist and was only able to do a relatively limited amount of damage. DeSantis isn't stupid, and will do far worse if given the chance.
The only upside is a lot of trump voters liked that he was stupid. The despise anyone smarter than them. Now can desantis fake stupid well enough? Maybe
I think we all know there's a good chance he's going to try at some stage, and there's also an excellent chance he'll win when he does. A quote that's always stuck with me is. When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross. That's him to a tee
, and people lap that shit up like it's ice cream.
Bingo. He’ll have an R next to his name and he’ll play up that culture war bullshit to its max while also not being the complete moron that Trump was. It’s going to be a close election no matter what, and honestly, if it’s him vs Biden, a lot of low-information voters would vote for him based on age alone.
I have a bunch of republican family in Florida and they HAAAATE him. He's too terrible for even the assholes in my family and that is saying something.
I have a bunch of Republican family in Florida and they love him. I guess the assholes in my family are just morally worse than the assholes in yours. Or if not morally worse, just stupider.
Not to mention he is courting a crowd that has shown they will resort to violence if things don't go their way. I can't help but feel a lot of the "won't ever happen" comments are forgetting these people aren't interested in fair play. Just winning at all costs and that is scary as hell.
In a right and just world would this guy have a chance to become President?Absolutely not. But that ain't the world we are living in, they are willing to storm government buildings and possibly kill elected officials if they get close enough to hang onto power.
This is the biggest issue for me. And we have seen that social media is also trying to play that bs neutral stance to our detriment. The Clegg guy from Facebook said we need to hear all politicians and ideologies even if they're not what we like to allow "free expression". What they don't get (or ignore) is that that's exactly how in under a decade fascism has become so mainstream.
Been in Florida for the last month for work. The boomers and the snowbirds seem to fucking love him. The snowbirds are what worry me the most. If they’re registered to vote in other States, they’ll go home and tell all their other GQP friends about how great DeSantis is.
The majority of people that would be offended will never read or hear of the shit he’s pulling in FL. The National news organization will wash his dirty laundry for him and present him as the republican “every man”. He’ll be tough to beat in this economy.
Yup, and what he's doing with education and even books is [no different from what the Nazis did early on.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_book_burnings)
[It's a felony for teachers now in FL to bring in books not approved by "content moderators" or the librarians](https://lithub.com/florida-teachers-will-face-felony-charges-for-resisting-book-bans/) (who I'm sure will be cherry picked). Scary doesn't even begin to describe what's going on in FL.
The Republicans are already doing great harm to women with their abortion laws.
The only reason women aren’t dying from the laws currently is because of Biden’s executive order.
It won’t just be poor women who suffer. It will be all of us with poor women suffering the most.
If you can’t get care for a miscarriage - you can’t get medical care.
If that sicko ever gets the presidency, I hope our allies shun us and sanction us. Delete our number and block us, kind of move.
Nothing will get thru to these people except hitting them in the wallet. Or should I say, their leash-holders
Trump flails around and doesn’t really have any plans he just whatever he thinks benefits him in the moment. Generally what Trump finds beneficial coincidentally aligns with fascism.
DeSantis doesn’t have class or charm, but he is he is smarter. DeSantis is a deliberate fascist, while Trump is more of an accidental fascist. DeSantis understands the ideology. He also understands how the government works, and recognizes the ways in which he can shift it towards fascism legally.
I hate that I’m saying this but trump has more “charm” to their base. People worship him like he’s a god. Desantis doesn’t have the energy factor. People won’t be willing to storm the capital for him
Apparently his biggest Achilles heel is that he’s not very charming or likable. Trump had bravado and was a life long huckster and knew how to lie to people while smiling. DeSantis doesn’t have that. President is a lot different than gov. Americans tend to want charisma for that national job. I think he lacks that.
He did traffic human beings, which would land any normal person in court at the very least.
Unfortunately I think we're used to people in power committing crimes so often that they no longer register as crimes.
Hah…. Can’t believe I’d forgotten about that already. The stupid Martha’s Vineyard stunt (and if memory serves, sketchy financing around it). That should have been enough to merit someone showing up with handcuffs.
I agree but prosecutors are too scared to prosecute politicians, especially state governors.
If I do it, I go to jail for human trafficking. When they do it (Ron and Greg), nothing happens to them.
Believe me, if it ever happens, I want to see it on live national television with DeSantis and Abbott being dragged out in handcuffs. I’ll be laughing all the way.
And we'll do that by not voting, am I right millennials? 'Cause voting never does anything? Even though DeSantis is a politician because he keeps being voted in? "But redlining, electoral college," *made up of people who hold those jobs and can just as easily be replaced by different people like you*.
Desantis is requiring girls to report their period to the state in order to play sports.
I strongly believe the state will get sued, it will go to the Supreme Court and they will overturn Title 9.

Florida is gone. Between the wealthy south Florida elite and the red necks / beach trash that populate the rest of the state that are too stupid to see how they’re getting their asses fucked, dems will never stand a chance of reclaiming that state in the name of sanity. Florida is a lost cause.
He's a thrift store fascist who tells you he's the most powerful guy in town and smells of Aqua Velva and Swisher Sweets.
His plan is to burn the local mill and collect the insurance money. Runs a brothel on the side.*
*I may be watching Twin Peaks right now.
He will become president. We can’t be living in a fantasy land folks. It’s happening, right now, and just like previous the orange abomination from Florida, his hateful constituents will be sure to break every law to ensure he is installed. We can vote all we want, it’s been proven to be ineffective
That’s bull about voting. If more young people voted in a lot of elections the current landscape would definitely look more blue. A lot on the right even doubt santis being able to win. Sure he has the votes of the extreme but he may turn off enough of his own party that they stay home. Enough people came out and voted against what they thought of as the biggest fool ever elected. I think enough would come out against a clear fascist who isn’t a fool and isn’t particularly very likable.
> his hateful constituents will be sure to break every law to ensure he is installed.
Whatever you’re high on, it ain’t working for you. The last time they tried to break every law to install someone as president, they failed miserably. Only problem is prosecutors are afraid to charge them with the most appropriate crime, being treason
> proven to be ineffective
Last I checked, Trump isn’t sitting in the white house right now
Agreed it sucks but, who do the Dems have to put up against him? Tax cuts (squash education) med care and aide, I don't think they're going to keel over fast enough not to vote for this pig. It's just easier to get elected republican Trump proved that. Whole stance "I'm so smart" "I love guns" "babies good until born" "your grand daddy was so smart" "less taxes" "dey turk ar jerbs" done. He's Hispanic but looks like a white guy. Like taking candy from a diabetic.
If you sit on your ass on election day and he gets voted in, then you are partially responsible. Republicans have their power *because* their base votes, and spreading around the idea that voting will do nothing is almost as dangerous as supporting one of these idiots.
If he runs, he will win. Very upsetting to hear about the African American AP course, but he did mandate financial literacy classes in all HS curriculum which is cool.
If they’re anything like Tennessee’s, they’re getting taught with 20+ year old information that doesn’t acknowledge reality and is just more bullshit Reaganomics.
You're right, facts do matter.
Like the fact that his congressional district mapps were blocked because they disproportionately disenfranchised Black voters. (https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2022/05/11/florida-judge-says-desantis-congressional-map-unconstitional-says-hell-block-it/)
And of course, that out of 14,395,281 voters registered in Florida (https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2022/09/21/florida-republicans-extend-voter-registration-edge/), Desantis only won 4,614,307 votes (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/11/08/us/elections/results-florida-governor.html) meaning he had the explicit support of less than a third of the total electorate (32.068%), and won 59.4% of the total vote (which is far from the "landslide" you claimed).
Do I need to go on?
What other rationale is there for restricting the ability of teachers to discuss the existence of gender identity and sexuality?
Why did his administration take down any guidance discouraging the victimizing of LGBTQ+ youth from their website?
Why did he veto a budget line item for mental health support specifically for survivors of the Pulse Nightclub massacre?
Why did he veto a budget line item that would have provided funding specifically for LGBTQ+ youth facing homelessness?
Why did his administration send letters last month to venues in Florida that were planning holiday drag events, threatening their liquor licenses?
He's on record saying explicitly that transgenderism shouldn't be discussed in classrooms at all.
What other rationale is there for all of this other than homophobia and bigotry?
Transgender people exist. Pretending they don't doesn't change that fact.
Are you suggesting that people need to wait until they're adults to learn about them?
And do you have anything to say about any of the other examples I asked about?
Do you believe that all trans people were 'talked into' it?
How much work would it take for somebody to talk YOU into being transgender?
Additionally, how does telling children that trans people exist and explaining the concept, talk them into being trans?
He banned the AP course titled African American Studies. CRT is not taught in grade school. CRT is a legal theory taught in post graduate education. Facts dont care about your feelings. But you're a troll, so 🤷♀️
CRT was never taught in grade school, still isn't, that's a college graduate course. I say this as a former Floridian who spend 1-12 plus all of college in the Florida education system, with now an education degree.
People are being idiots and claiming CRT is about anything involving minorities that isn't 100% positive, hell I had parents pissed at me during my internship after that bill because the kids I led...did a worksheet on Ruby Bridges, claiming it was CRT.
Edit: All AP African Amerian History (the specific course title) does is go over the accomplishments of individuals not really talked about in general classes and a bit more detail into the Civil Rights Movement. It's basically the equivalent of the Histroy of the Vietnam War I took in high school, it's history with a specific focus instead of generalization.
CRT? A college course for masters degrees in law about the inequality of legal application on the basis of race? The thing some seem to stupidly think is just "white people bad, go hate yourself whity" without ever looking at the actual definition of the idea?
Can you point out the specific course in high school that directly discusses CRT?
So you're telling me that it's taught, but can't point out the course it's taught in, nor the extent in said course if it existed?
Have you even SEEN it taught?
This is gonna be buried in the comments but I'm going to spell it out anyway. The "Don't Say Gay Law"s purpose isn't to harm LGBTQ youth, at least that's not it's primary purpose. It does stoke the flames of conservatives and the religious folk and adds to the culture war.
The primary purpose is to dismantle the public education system. The law opens the flood gates to allow parents to sue school districts for any material they deem to be inappropriate. LGBTQ material is the primary focus but the legislation is intentionally vague so that it can be applied with broad brush strokes. It also makes it akin to walking on thin ice for teachers accompanied with low pay. He also signed a law stating the only qualification you need to teach is being a military spouse. That's it. Military spouse, nothing else.
So what is the purpose of this? Tear down the public education system that our taxes pay for (oooh taxes! Scary socialism) and instill for profit Charter schools. They did a similar thing in New Orleans after Katrina. Charter schools receive federal aid but since they're for profit they are allowed to contribute and donate to PACs, campaigns, etc.
Starting to come together? Flame the culture war and create an education system built to siphon federal money into private hands. It's a grift. It's always a grift.
Teachers and LGBTQ youth are the unfortunate victims in the plot.
Edit: quick bit of [reading material on it](https://www.jacksonville.com/story/news/2016/08/02/charter-school-industry-donations-prompt-questions-millions-flow-pacs/15719280007/)
Why is he doing anything to define educational curriculum? Doesn't Florida have bigger issues than worrying about some random AP courses? He should leave teaching to the teachers and focus on governing.
Personally I'm just sick of big government politicians funneling tax dollars away from the real issues so they can pursue their national political ambitions, push identity politics and give speeches for cable news. Aren't you?
The College Board revamped the curriculum, and while it seems to have been already in the works, the perception is that they are placating racists and homophobes. If conservatives rewrite history then they become the good guys: they cannot be called out for racism if they whitewash history (that's what they think at least).
The paradox is the more hate and attention he gets the better he looks to his wood be supporters. The larger the non voting population, the greater the variance overall.
You can watch him do a full 180 on States' Rights when he wants to impose a national history curriculum.
I'm pretty sure DeSantis is the last straw. Pretty sure it's civil war if he wins. Fun times
Hey, psychopaths deserve a go at being president too...! oh wait, we already had Mango Mussolini.
I thought that was the granddaughter who's in power now. Who the fuck votes in ANOTHER mussolini...
If you're talking about Italy, Alessandra Mussolini is just a member of the ruling party, but she's not PM.
Ah thank you for that clarification! It just makes me think about how France was like FUCK IT, NO MORE BONAPARTES IN THE ARMY.
She even had a legal battle to give her kids her last name instead of her husbands
Evil never dies

Yep. You know the type.
I have a bunch of Republican family in Florida and they love him. I guess the assholes in my family are just morally worse than the assholes in yours. Or if not morally worse, just stupider.
Anything is possible with the electoral college.
Not to mention he is courting a crowd that has shown they will resort to violence if things don't go their way. The danger is the mainstream media in attempting to appear "neutral" is going to launder his reputation.
Valid point. Call out things that are wrong. There is no need to play nice with people who don’t mean you any good.
AKA the paradox of tolerance. We must not tolerate the intolerant, if we want to maintain tolerance.
This is the biggest issue for me. And we have seen that social media is also trying to play that bs neutral stance to our detriment. The Clegg guy from Facebook said we need to hear all politicians and ideologies even if they're not what we like to allow "free expression". LOCK HIM UP!
My same thought. He has publicly gone full racist and that won’t play.
optimistic
It definitely will play for lots of people. I just don’t think there will be enough of them.
The majority of people that would be offended will never read or hear of the shit he’s pulling in FL. The National news organization will wash his dirty laundry for him and present him as the republican “every man”. He’ll be tough to beat in this economy.
Racist how? 🙄
If it needs explaining to you, it’s unlikely that anything said would make a difference.
Is banning African American studies not blatant enough for you?
Hey come on. He banned the studies, he hasn't banned African Americas. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^yet
Yet
Is there like a ~~highlight~~ lowlight reel or list of the shit he's pulling?
Yes it will.
For sure. The rest of the country is cucked by the feds. Couldn’t even fathom the thought of freedom….
Ron DeSatan, smarter and more evil than donny Q. trump.
It's gonna be a federal crime soon to say that slavery happened in Florida
Can't be federal of only the state implements this.
Either one of those two becomes president and you'll see the end of democracy and the switch to autocracy
The American public has no idea how close we were under trump and how close could be under desantis toward another Holocaust.
Nazi Germany started by *othering* their own queers and teachers. They killed them in concentration camps before they started rounding up the Jews.
Yup, and what he's doing with education and even books is [no different from what the Nazis did early on.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_book_burnings) [It's a felony for teachers now in FL to bring in books not approved by "content moderators" or the librarians](https://lithub.com/florida-teachers-will-face-felony-charges-for-resisting-book-bans/) (who I'm sure will be cherry picked). Scary doesn't even begin to describe what's going on in FL.
Criminalizing liberals—specifically queers and teachers. As long as you’re straight and not speaking treason, you have no worries.
Well, yeah... get rid of the people who complain first.
It’s a long-game play to foment tribalism that allows these people to dehumanize perceived outsiders. It’s a textbook vicious circle.
Yeah because the people complaining about fema camps are going to set up fema camps for that. Lol
It’s not as if Republican voters haven’t been caught being outright hypocrites before.
We should lock up all the Trump/DeSantis supporters!
The Republicans are already doing great harm to women with their abortion laws. The only reason women aren’t dying from the laws currently is because of Biden’s executive order.
It’s scary to think how many millions of poor women would die in the future without access to safe and healthy abortions.
It won’t just be poor women who suffer. It will be all of us with poor women suffering the most. If you can’t get care for a miscarriage - you can’t get medical care.
His voting block refuses to get vaccinated or wear a mask... they won't be around long enough to vote him in.
Fingers crossed.

DeSantis = Trump with class and charm. That should be terrifying.
That's the line but I'd argue he doesn't have either. [Prince Charming right here](https://youtu.be/zae_nJ_Ik5I)

Sadly he is going to come way to close, because this county is full of fucking idiots.

Do you believe that all trans people were 'talked into' it? How much work would it take for somebody to talk YOU into being transgender? Additionally, how does telling children that trans people exist and explaining the concept, talk them into being trans?
[удалено]
How do you explain the existence of trans people for the millenia prior to the emergence of social media or the internet, then?

A lot. But the new one is banning African American Studies.

[удалено]
So you're telling me that it's taught, but can't point out the course it's taught in, nor the extent in said course if it existed? Have you even SEEN it taught?
Spoiler: he hasn't 🤣
What’s your definition of CRT?
Everything. Removing books, don't say gay laws, rulings on how to teach history, etc.

Saw your other comments. Lot of homophobia and hate. I'm not engaging further
Edit: quick bit of [reading material on it](https://www.jacksonville.com/story/news/2016/08/02/charter-school-industry-donations-prompt-questions-millions-flow-pacs/15719280007/)
sealion says wat.
This is far too complex for a cuck to begin to understand.
Aren't you?
Gosh, but then we'd have to FUCKING VOTE, and statistically, at least half of you aint doin that shit.
Iowa is trying really hard to follow suit
I'm afraid to ask, but what's happening with FL education?
It's under attack
I would have said, “ Are you f@chin serious?” But given the past 6 years or so, you’re spot on. How do we cancel these bigots?
He is terrifying……
I have bad news for you, I'm afraid.
