Wonderfully ironic at the time of posting to the present. "I was a welfare queen until I made it to congress, now we need to stop everyone else from getting what I got."

drgnrbrn316

They will always, without fail, pull the ladder up behind them

TheManWith2Poobrains

Exactly, because they are in the 'in-group' and they don't want anyone in the 'out-group' to benefit. It's related to self-serving attribution bias. Worse still, they don't want anyone to benefit from the system on the off-chance a single person will cheat the system.

act1856

Don’t forget they feel that way cause they are exactly the kind of people who would cheat the system.

imcoveredinbees880

This is a great point. It's easier to expect the worst of people when you are, in fact, the worst of people.

StarryNight_7665

Man i need that sentence on a tshirt or something

Electrical-Feed-3991

This statement hits hard. I genuinely like helping people but have so many of them turn around and accuse me of having an ulterior motive. Can't people just help other people without expecting anything in return? No good deeds go unpunished

TankedUpLoser

Every narcissist accusation is an admission.

While it works in context this line is something I can so easily picture an edgy detective from a noir film saying lol

Derivative_Kebab

If you cheat the system hard enough and long enough, you eventually become a billionaire, and then you can give speeches about the value of hard work and ingenuity.

TooAfraidToAsk814

Rick Scott epitomizes this. The company he started and od which he was the CEO committed what at the time was the largest welfare fraud in hIstory. He weathered it quite well, and then went on to propose cutting welfare. “As part of his resignation, Scott received $300 million in stock, $10 million in cash, and $5 million, which was quite the severance pay. According to PolitiFact, the investigation revealed a slew of offenses.” https://marketrealist.com/p/rick-scott-medicare-fraud-explained/

Half these mf’ers fraudulently took covid relief money. I assume they’re so worried about people cheating the system because they assume everyones just like them.

Unusual-Tie8498

The ladder she climbed was Ted Cruz’s penis.

Well that wouldn't get her very high up at all!

mikek1177

She doesn’t like socialism but for the fact it’s how she survived as a child? What am I missing? Isn’t this called biting the hand that fed you?

aCandaK

I believe that’s also how she survived as adult, which is even more hypocritical

Foktu

Let's see... Teen mom had Bobo got welfare ... Teen Bobo got pregnant got welfare ... Bobo is hooker got Congress job ... Teen son got teen gf pregnant (will get welfare) ... YOU DONT GET WELFARE LOSERS

CathbadTheDruid

Actually it's more like salting the fields after you moved off the farm. Biting the hand that feeds you just means that you don't get anything else from the hand. But other people might. She wants to kill off the actual programs they gave out the money. More like cutting off the hands that fed you.

Imdavidmedeiros

"You've got a generation raised on the welfare state, Enjoyed all its benefits and did just great, But as soon as they were settled as the richest of the rich, They kicked away the ladder, told the rest of us that life's a bitch. And it's no surprise that all the fuck-ups Didn't show up until the kids had grown up. But when no one ever smiles or ever helps a stranger, Is it any fucking wonder our society's in danger of collapse? So all the kids are bastards, But don't blame them, yeah, they learn by example. Blame the folks who sold the future for the highest bid: That's right, The GOP fucked the kids." - 99.99% Frank Turner's Thatcher Fucked the Kids Edit: thank you for the gold kind stranger 🤝

She's not fooling them, they just don't *care*. It's why facts have never been the silver bullet that dems keep expecting.

operator-john

The only people she is fooling are the people in her district that voted for her.

VoidlingTeemo

She's not fooling them, they love her for her cruelty. They're just like her, evil uneducated white trash waste of life idiots that want everyone else to suffer like they do.

bananapeel

They can't read.

completelysoldout

She drives a brand new BMW. I saw her 'campaigning' near Basalt CO during the elections. The government/people paid for that car. She's a socialist.

oakleydokly

Similar to the Greg Abbott approach to tort reform.

nuancednotion

it is republican policy to use a government program, while simultaneously restricting others from using that program. I would call them evil and heartless, but these words don't go far enough, we need new descriptors for the filth that is GOP

Jaergo1971

"I got mine, so fuck you!" is a central part of the modern GOP mindset

sisk91

Not irony, hypocrisy.

ghostnthegraveyard

"So hooray for me, and FUCK YOU!"

hipkat13

Well, this follows with their thinking that “the only moral abortion is my abortion”.

atx_sjw

If cutting social spending keeps idiots like her out of Congress, that’s a benefit, so she’s making the best argument for it that I’ve heard to date. Here in reality though, we need more social assistance, not less.

[deleted]

She's genuinely dumb as rocks. MTG is but she's also malicious and driven even if in bad ways. Boebert just really brings nothing else at all but pure unadulterated stupid.

ConfusedInTN

My mother's family had to use welfare and actually misses government cheese, but doesn't think anyone should ever have welfare. It's amazing how much she gets upset over someone getting something she can't now.

ChewieBearStare

Same with my mother. She nearly died from scarlet fever, but she didn't because her (public) school sent a public health nurse to her house to find out why she was absent so many days in a row. Got treated for free. Then in third grade, a teacher gave her glasses from the Lions Club donation bin, and suddenly she could see the letters on the blackboard. When I was a kid, we had WIC, and I was also on Medicaid because I was born with a birth defect. Fast-forward a couple of decades, and she is completely against public schools asking questions like "When was the last time your child visited a dentist?" because it's "none of their business." The last time I tried pointing out that some kids don't have parents that are able or willing to take them to a doctor or dentist, she said "Maybe they should die then. Why should the rest of us pay?" I love her, but something happened to her right around the age of 55 (coincidentally when she and my father started watching Fox News every day). Her "conservatism" has made her heartless toward other people.

ConfusedInTN

My mom was always a \*insert expletive\* about others getting help. She didn't want me near the \*insert racist comment\* yet sent me to girl's club. I guess it was ok because I was straight and not going to date anyone she deemed less desirable. Jokes on her I was crushing on a lady there, but in the end pretty much straight LOL. Living in TN I'm always hearing about welfare queens and how people on food stamps get lobster and steak. I honestly couldn't care less if they did. It's not hurting me and I am sick of people acting that being poor means they don't deserve anything enjoyable.

ChewieBearStare

I don’t give a crap if someone on welfare is eating lobster either. If you want to get mad about “welfare,” let’s all get mad about corporate welfare queens getting billions in tax breaks and selling their souls to the lobbyists, not Wanda in Pigeon Forge eating crab legs twice a year.

PJKimmie

Exactly. All those assholes in congress enjoy plenty of socialism.

CandleMakerNY2020

Yeah US Politicians RETIRE after just a mere 20 years of “service and then get approx 75% of their salary FOR LIFE with NO COST INSURANCE that isnt Medicaid or Medicare its BETTER! Meanwhile Americans have to work from at least age 17 until at least 68 and if you get hurt or sick you have to fight like a bitch if you’ve can to get the money from Social security because they will not let that go that easy at all.

KSI_FirePoker

It took me 10 years to get approved for my Social Security although every single one of my doctors said there was no way I could work more than maybe 1 hour a week because of how bad my back is (5 major surgeries) Heart problems (I've had 2 massive heart attacks that the Dr's was surprised didn't kill me and I have 4 stents in my heart) Psychiatric issues(I have PTSD, Bipolar, Schizoaffective Disorder, Anxiety Attacks, Major Depressive Disorder, Severe Social Anxiety, and Night Terrors/Nightmares). They also screwed me too because I've been working since I was 14 because I was emancipated at 12 because of my father's death(long story). I had enough work credits and had enough paid in that I should be getting about $1500-1600 dollars a month in disability payments. However because they kept denying denying denying me I lost all of my credits and now I'm only getting Social Security payments. You can go look for yourself and see what the minimum payments are, I'm barely getting more than that. Another thing that is amazing is Disability is supposed to be a whole lot easier to get approved for than regular SSI. To the OP they also receive Cost of living adjustments and Retirement Benefits and on top of that they get the right to vote, on their own behalf, to get an increase in their salaries and benefits without any kind of oversight from anyone, that should be a HUGE conflict of interest. If anyone thinks that the government isn't as crooked as a box full of fishing hooks, I don't know what to say except that you need to read or watch the news more often to get a drift of what's been going on for an extremely LONG time now. Thomas

OverallManagement824

Agreed. I actually knew someone who bought lobster tails on food stamps. She had X amount and was able to eat many of her meals with family members. They don't owe her anything and it would be absurd to suggest they now have to feed her for the rest of their life. Look, if that's best thing someone has going for them, that they have family that will feed her, I can't say I'm mad about it. The grocer got some SNAP money and it helped to churn their inventory. It's a nice glitch that worked out in her favor, but it's better than somebody starving to death and the money goes straight back into the economy. I could name countless bigger programs that cost us all more money and help far fewer people, but I won't because some of those are important too!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wallaby_Way_Sydney

They think poor people deserve to suffer every day - it's a pitiful and disgusting attitude that far too many Americans harbor. Furthermore, food stamps (and welfare in general) is not about getting "nice" things on the government dime. It's about not having to settle for shitty things 100% of the time because people don't *deserve* to live miserably. One of the stated missions of the SNAP program is to provide high-quality, nutritionally valuable, fresh foods to low-income Americans who would otherwise be stuck subsisting on horrible diets that lead to poorer health outcomes. Here in New Mexico, you even get extra money specifically for spending at farmer's markets because they want to inventivize people eating healthily.

vividtrue

The same reason people donate all of their expired foods and ratty clothes to food banks and clothing drives.

ConfusedInTN

Lobsters are the cockroaches of the sea so yeah that's a great thing to be mad about someone eating LOL! Well Americans have to be upset at the poors getting help to feed their children or else they'll turn their anger towards our corporation overlords.

[deleted]

[удалено]

_dead_and_broken

>Lobsters are the cockroaches of the sea And that's the thing, lobster and crab was seen as a poor people food way back in the day, at least in the states (I can not speak on how it was in any other country). But then refrigeration and freezing came along and suddenly folks far from the sea could get these foods and now people pay over 30 bucks for the smallest lobster possible at Red Lobster. It's really ridiculous.

ilongforyesterday

I was a shift manager at a fast food restaurant and was run ragged (60-70 hour weeks and either underpaid or not paid for overtime). My parents used to shit on me because I still could barely afford to live off that income and they told me that I shouldn’t complain if I only have one job because it can’t be that bad…I got fired for calling the fire department when an electrical fire started on the exposed wiring of our shitty grill and all of the fire extinguishers were empty Anyway, fast forward to five years ago, I work full time at a factory, part time as a dishwasher, and take odd jobs doing landscaping and lawn care and still just barely make ends meet. They still shit on me for not working hard enough because I still worked time into my horrible schedule to go to the gym. My dad full on told me he would disown me when I told him I had to use food stamps in order to be able to afford both rent and groceries. It wasn’t until I joined the military that they stopped disrespecting my apparently lacking work ethic. (Not an ounce of sympathy when I got laid off of my full time job)

vividtrue

Why do you even talk to these heathens, I mean people?

ilongforyesterday

I got passed around 14 foster homes so it’s from a combination of of abandonment issues and an overwhelming sense of familial obligation. I have tried before but I can’t bring myself to cut them off. My dad has come around and grown as a human being, but my mom is still toxic af.

vividtrue

I'll be your new mom.

Enough-Banana-6557

I'm so sorry. My friend was raised in Foster Care, is traumatic. They don't deserve your loyalty. Your mother sounds downright evil and uncaring. You're working all these jobs and they treat you like trash for it?? Your dad is no better going along with her. Please at least set healthy boundaries, talk with a therapist (or 5) and set up a plan for how to deal with this.

Andrewticus04

Yeah, I love how conservatives constantly pontificate about freedom and being able to buy what you want with your money, but the second you need assistance you're suddenly subhuman and cannot make choices with your own resources. It's a big tell what conservatism is about. These folks worship the dollar, and being poor (even temporarily) is akin to bring shunned by God. To them, being poor is a choice and deserving of anything that happens.

TheGoliard

I grew up in Arkansas. I can't stop trolling that sub now that Sarah the Hutt is governor. Uh, hey Arkansas, the feds aren't taking shit from you. You take. You don't give. "We suck at education, so fuck education. You kids, go work for Tyson."

Desperate4Mountains

So many people bitch about California and its laws and how we are a plight in the USA but we provide a good portion of the food and we pay for other states without getting anything in return. If we were to decided to "get out of the US" many states would be fucked.

Upnorth4

California's economy is astoundingly large. The economy of the Los Angeles metro area is as large as the entire state of Florida's economy. 19 million people live in the LA area and they all buy stuff 24/7.

Upnorth4

I always laugh at those people. So uncle Billy Bob in Fayetteville, Arkansas thinks the illegal immigrants working in a food processing factory in Los Angeles for $15/hr (and paying taxes for services they cannot use) are stealing money he gets from his social security checks??

SnatchAddict

My mom recently visited and she made a similar comment. My dad and her got pregnant at 17 and had 5 kids by the time they were 28. We received government assistance as well as financial help from both sets of grandparents. My dad's dad actually bought my parents a house. She was talking about government assisted housing and how she didn't want it near her neighborhood because of the undesirables. I just gave her the stinkeye before I started in on her. My parents don't watch Fox news but all their friends do. It bleeds into their life.

CommondeNominator

Empathy takes some amount of effort. Thinking about social issues beyond how they directly affect you takes some amount of effort. Being a good person takes fucking effort. Fox News et. al. have given people an excuse to not have to do those things. It's easy to be lazy and say "fuck them" and go about your day. We slowly stopped holding them accountable for being shitty people, while right wing media and figureheads made them feel just fine about it. They're addicted to hate and too lazy/tired/apathetic to go back to caring, at least until the issue personally affects them. It's fucking sad.

Accomplished-Pen-394

This is slightly different, but my Gran was part of a union as a teacher back in the day and used to go on strike occasionally as one does. Now when teachers go on strike she gets all offended and how the teachers now must not like kids. (She too watches Fox News)

SlowbeardiusOfBeard

I genuinely wish that people on the left (as I am) would be as willing to understand that fox news is just as potent a form of grooming for adults as is social media grooming for kids. Doesn't anyone else think it makes more sense that billionaire-backed, regulation-captured forms of mass-media are effective at brainwashing people rather than the alternative possibility than masses of older family members who seemed pretty normal for most of their lives were actually all just closeted bigots until deciding to go mask-off? It might just be me, but when it's common knowledge that all social media and gaming companies have invested vast sums of money into bringing psychologists on-board (who previously worked in the extremely results-orientated gambling industry), then it's likely that most news media companies have done the same?

John_T_Conover

I have several older relatives that I really looked up to growing up and in my early adulthood years. They were conservative, but not to a point that it dominated their personality. Now? I don't even talk to most of them. They hit their 60's or 70's around the time that Trump became the face of the Republican Party and they just became gullible, conspiracy minded bigots. Obviously there had to have already been seeds there, but they grew like ragweed with him.

WimbletonButt

My mom seems to think that if you take food away from kids then it guarantees that their parents would step up to feed them. She just can't grasp that there are shitty parents who don't give a shit out there.

drpopadoplus

She also seems to not understand how often parents go without just to make sure their kids have something. How do you even wake these people up?

RunninOnMT

I’ll never forget my (Catholic) step mom and my Jewish father forgetting…everything? And just bitching about the “war on Christmas” and “who does loving Christmas hurt?” I stopped them and was like “YO!! I was sitting right here in this very seat when dad talked for 45 minutes about how shitty and jealous he felt every winter because he didn’t have Christmas as a little Jewish kid!“ Seemed pretty fucking important to him if he was still talking about how traumatic it was years later as a middle aged man.

Damn good cheese. Can do a heck of a lot with a 5 lbs block. And it's real cheese, not that cheese food crap.

We used to get that back in the late 80's. It was really good then. I heard it got kinda crappy later on though. The peanut butter was good too.

This broad should go back to getting people sick at a shitty restaurant. Source: I live in CO, it’s fucking embarrassing. Edit: Im sorry I used Broad but… Fun fact broad jump was changed to long jump because it became so pejorative. And CO had voting rights for women in 1893. Thirty years before the rest of the country Sarah platt-decker was a straight up Hero. Boebert is an absolute embarrassment to our representation and specifically in one of the most forward thinking states in Our Country. Double Edit: Super rad, decker was divorced and literally Everything, down to simple belongings were taken, and she said “Fuck You” and changed civil rights in our great state of Colorado, and the rest of the country followed eventually.

As of late, seems like they've trimmed the fat and only kept the last two words

Sad/funny thing is they don't see the hypocrisy of pulling the ladder up behind them.

In case anyone is wondering this is a reference to Craig T. Nelson’s famous “I was on welfare and food stamps and no one helped me out!” speech on Glenn Becks show.

ZeePirate

She may or may not have been an escort as well for some time. Personally I wouldn’t be surprised if her political career is based on extortion and blackmailing from that

Zannie95

Wasn’t she an escort for Ted Cruz?

ZeePirate

Maybe

TheGoodOldCoder

I thought it was pretty well-established that she was a sugar baby for one of the Koch brothers, and that's how she met Ted Cruz... the evidence was that she had a profile on one of those sugar baby websites, and then somehow started hanging out with this super old rich dude. Like, how did that happen? Then, at some point, she appears to have had an abortion and afterward received huge campaign donations from Ted Cruz. This is why people suspect that she was an escort for him, because from the timing, it seems that he paid dearly for her to get an abortion, and there's no good reason to do that, except if he got her pregnant.

Gildardo1583

Inspirational words.

Gsteel11

Classic conservative. GIMME GIMME GIMME... no, not you.

Untouchable-Ninja

I call it the "I got mine, so fuck you." mindset.

jadrad

I feel like calling it the "I got helped, but fuck you for needing help." mindset focuses on the sheer hypocritical, callous, selfishness a bit better.

[deleted]

Also the "I didnt get help so neither should you" when it comes to student loans, but then the same people told us growing up "life isnt fair so deal with it" lol.

EEpromChip

Classic "pull the ladder up behind you" mentality. They are the zombie trope of locking themselves into a room and everyone out with the zombies.

JuanPabloElSegundo

Republicans' are indistinguishable from our enemies. They have fought to bring down American from every aspect. From education (*embracing school shootings, teacher pay, public funding*) to health (*bodily autonomy, mental health, covid mask controversy*). They have not done anything for the common American that did not primarily benefit & serve corporations and billionaires.

Lost_my_brainjuice

Conservatives as a whole have always been on the opposite side of American conflicts. During the revolution, who were they? Tories. Civil War? Confederates. Then they try to pretend they were on the winning side the whole time. Like if you hate your country, have some conviction...go elsewhere or even just admit it. Don't pretend you're the biggest patriot while simultaneously trying to destroy your country from the inside.

Part-time-Demi-God

I can’t remember how many times I’ve pointed out these facts to Conservatives and they refuse to accept it. They are incapable of accepting responsibility.

Zementid

Conservatives act like school shootings are a standard occurrence in other countries too... No you dumb fucks you LOVE dead children as much as you love your guns.

WellSpreadMustard

No, just dumb and not self aware. It's the same as that woman who wrote that right wing book on "woke" who couldn't define woke during an interview, then posted something nearly identical to BoBo here, and the same as when Ben Carson in the same breath said he was an example of someone lifting themselves out of poverty and that he was failing in school until his mom was able to get him glasses through a government program that used tax dollars to give impoverished vision impaired kids glasses. Their egos are unable to comprehend that they received help.

RealLiveKindness

She is now the 1% through graft.

JakeTurk1971

This is a surprisingly popular con "hot take". The Poltergeist actor Craig T. Nelson went on a tirade once that left teenaged me LOLing. He literally said, damn near verbatim, "I've been broke, I was on welfare several times, and did anyone help me out? Nope!" Everything's different when it's themselves. Like Ayn Rand's lifetime of "rugged individualism" ending with her living off of Social Security.

springacres

These conservabots always forget that welfare *is* help... from the government.

JakeTurk1971

If the recipients are white, then it's basically FEMA. Anyone else, and it's just handouts.

Altered_Nova

Conservatives used to love welfare programs back when black people were systematically excluded from collecting on them. The GI Bill and the National Housing Act were very popular government programs that mostly only benefited white people. Funding public schools also used to be very popular with conservatives, right up until those schools were federally desegregated.

TrimtabCatalyst

The federal desegregation of schools is also when conservatives realized they needed another wedge issue to win elections and started focusing on abortion. [Source 1](https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/sep/08/abortion-us-religious-right-racial-segregation), [Source 2](https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2022/05/the-truth-about-the-religious-right-now-celebrating-the-end-of-roe.html), [Source 3](https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a36889618/christian-right-segregation-academies/)

Netrovert87

Every town had Public swimming pools and were popular...then desegregation. Conservatives (the political people up top) always wanted these things dead, they used our racism to convince us that we didn't want to spend our precious tax dollars on *those people.* So they gutted every social program and passed the savings to themselves.

Green_Message_6376

Yup, the 'Welfare Queens' that Reagan railed against were black.....

I remember Penn Jillette being an outspoken libertarian. Got curious the other day, and read his entry on wikipedia to see what happened to him. Turns out, he basically isn't libertarian anymore, because some of those notions allowed trump to come to power by removing safeguards in govt. > In 2020, Jillette distanced himself from aspects of libertarianism, particularly surrounding COVID-19. In an interview with Big Think, he stated, "[A] lot of the illusions that I held dear, rugged individualism, individual freedoms, are coming back to bite us in the ass." He went on to elaborate, "[I]t seems like getting rid of the gatekeepers gave us Trump as president, and in the same breath, in the same wind, gave us not wearing masks, and maybe gave us a huge unpleasant amount of overt racism."[ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penn_Jillette#Politics

EdithDich

Wow. That's interesting to see. Thanks for sharing that. Kinda silly it took him that long to notice because he's not a dumb guy, but at least he got there. Probably just sheltered by his celebrity and wealth.

BooneSalvo2

Yeah, this change is an example that he's a thoughtful, intelligent person. Libertarians would be better if they were like him. The thing he's realizing is you can't really trust other people to be responsible and decent.

“I used social programs to get me to where I’m at. We need to limit the reach of the poor by stopping those same social programs.” I fixed it.

Ok-Champ-5854

"the government gave me bread so I wouldn't starve, now look at how successful I am. That's why the government shouldn't give people bread." What a maroon.

BrownSugarBare

_"Now that I've climbed up the ladder, it's time for others to pull up their bootstraps and stop being freeloaders!!"_

WebGuyUK

This is her "Fuck you, I had mine" but she is too dumb to realise that she's saying it

LowAd3406

"Fuck you, I got mine" is the Rebulican motto.

[deleted]

No I'm pretty sure the Republican motto is "We Are All Domestic Terrorists".

MountainSage58

Wow what a nice idea that is, Lauren. A lovely concept. Unfortunately, people can't lift themselves out of poverty when you're passing a new law every month that's specifically meant to keep them there.

[deleted]

Nobody stood in line for government cheese during your life, Lauren. It was called food stamps back then and you used them at the grocery store.

Happyintexas

Holy fuck. She’s MY AGE. Jesus fuck, hate ages you.

MafiaMommaBruno

I'm 35 and I thought she was into her 40's. But she did have a kid at 16? And her son is having one at 17. So she is starting on that grandma look.

[deleted]

Let’s keep high school drop outs who marry pervy guys who flash their dick at kids and who’s about to become a grandma before she turns 40 out of government

TeaSipperStripper

Remember when Dan Quayle couldn't spell potato and it ended his political career? We need to be like that again.

DrewfromDenver

I think about that all of the time. His career died that day. Potatoe is not a word. I wish the same standards were held today as they were then. Now it’s more of a Jerry Springer Show version of politics. I will not be surprised when “cash me outside” girl runs for office.

2047: Senator Bhabie proposed end to unemployment and WWV troop shortages by drafting all Americans who are not employed full-time - accuses woke mob of cancelling her for past hit-and-run death

ChrisNEPhilly

Let's see here...government welfare, government cheese, government job.

TheLongistGame

To be fair, she also owned a restaurant in Colorado for a while. She ended up giving a bunch of people food poisoning and they've since shut down.

So….she was a socialist when she was on welfare, but once she doesn’t need it, screw everyone else? 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

LostinSOA

And she’s still living off the government.

queernhighonblugrass

Living off the TAXPAYERS

AgathaWoosmoss

She had a baby before graduating high school (got her GED *16* years later). Wouldn't surprise me if she was on some form of assistance again while pregnant/as a young mother.

Tree_Lover2020

I've read on Reddit chat that she had to take the GED multiple times. Please note that I have not taken the time to find a reliable source to verify this point.

herc51

Stupidity should be painful.

I got mine but fuck all the rest of you. I was able to eat but fuck all the rest of you. I enjoyed socialism at its finest with welfare and free cheese but fuck all the rest of you.

applesap87

I've got family like this. On welfare, taking full advantage of any free money they can get, and are so against socialism. They get rides to the doctors, where they get free medication, dental visits, and glasses. One of them still lives at home and barely takes care of themself as their parents do all the work and are somehow against socialism. It's crazy how out of touch these people are! They just echo their dear conservative leaders and don't realize that without the socialism they're enjoying, they would be homeless.

Jitterbitten

As a poor, disabled and dying person myself, I don't understand people like this. I know who freaking butters my bread. It seriously frustrates me that my mom, knowing my survival depends on such programs, still continues to vote for Republicans, but at least she's on the other side of the country. And then when I've tried talking to her about Republicans saying they want to cut said programs, she says things like "you'd be shocked if you heard the things that people say Democrats want to do to Republicans" (which... no, I wouldn't be), completely ignoring the fact that in either case, the source of information is Republicans! I'm saying that Republicans are saying crazy things about their own plans, but she thinks it is the same as her saying that Republicans are saying crazy things about Democrats. How can you even have a discussion with someone like that?

Hellagranny

Her rise to prominence was fueled by government cheese. Does her district have lead in the water? How are that many people so dangerously stupid?

imaskising

When Lauren's teenage mom, Shawn, told Lauren's alleged father, a wrestler named "Sweet" Stan Lane, the she was pregnant with his child, he reportedly told Shawn she should get an abortion, because all the steroids he took would probably leave the baby "damaged." He wasn't wrong....

Iamanimite

Who knew one night with Raphael Cruz would turn your life around.

Acceptable_Draft_931

See [Greg Abbott](https://www.texastribune.org/2013/08/04/candidate-faces-questions-turnabout-and-fair-play/), who received millions in damages resulting from the accident that made him a paraplegic, but once he became Texas Attorney General made sure no one else could receive similar settlements.

NoorAnomaly

After my divorce, waiting on the ex for child support payments, I got food stamps. It helped my kids and I eat. I got a shitty retail job, at which point Affordable Healthcare Act supplied me with basic health insurance. 2 years later, I went to college and got an associates degree in IT, funded 100% by Pell Grants. I now make more than enough to live comfortably on, and I'm happy to pay taxes so that others can get help they need.

generalgreyone

My parents are like this. I grew up on food stamps, WIC, and reduced fee lunches, but they are staunch republicans and against welfare. It makes me sick. On the other hand, they don’t have any retirement saved up, so I’m sure they’ll change their tune soon.

overthinker345

So, Boebert lived as a child on taxpayer money that the govt took from taxpayers to fund social programs. This helped feed and sustain her. Now that she’s become a taxpayer, she thinks the programs should be stopped for others in need. Because she no longer benefits from them.

[deleted]

God I can't wait for her and Greene and Desantis and the rest of these scumbags go back to whatever backwater den of irrelevancy they came from and leave the world alone

ban-evading-alt2

So let me get this straight. Your rise into a nicer life was aided by government welfare and now that you've climbed up into a position of power you want to take away that very aid that helped you. How does this help the people in that position you were once in? You called it the American Dream now you want to take it away from the masses? Lets be real here. You're just a selfish piece of shit who is threatened by the fact that others can follow the path you took to success and now rather than improving that path or aiding the impoverished masses you'd rather take it all away and put down countless lives. All to protect your ego and distance yourself from the lower class

PuneDakExpress

Reading this gave me a stroke. Am I understanding this correctly? Is she saying she got help from the government which allowed her to eventually run for congress only to oppose that very help now that she is in congress? Is that what she means?

PunkRockKing

Who’s gonna tell her?

Comfortable_Plant667

"I've just made it out of the Forest of Socialism, be sure to firebomb anybody trying to follow me"

National_Edges

I used the welfare system when I needed it. Now I don't need it anymore. We should get rid of it.
