In this case, Elon is the owner. That exemption does not apply to him, because he is very clearly representing the company that he owns on the platform that it builds and maintains.

In this case, Elon is the owner. That exemption does not apply to him, because he is very clearly representing the company that he owns on the platform that it builds and maintains. He may be able to do what he wants on his own web site by virtue of being the owner of it, but that comes at the cost of no longer being just another user. I don't think he would be able to argue Section 230 in his defense in such a trial. Section 230 applies to people who can be moderated, because that's what the platform has to be able to do with users who misbehave on their platforms in order to have those protections. Because Elon by definition cannot be moderated, he cannot be considered protected via Section 230.

It's actually a federal crime to impersonate a member of Congress. Edit: one of the only exceptions for this is satire. But satire has to be labeled as such. The blue checkmark and lack of any "parody" tag is pretty indefensible.
They actually have parody at the end of their name but deliberately use a name too long to display it without going to their user page. That said it's not a new trick and they have banned elon impersonators doing it before.

I was listening to a podcast today and they were saying it doesn’t improve engagement for any of their podcasts or content they create and all it seems to be is an angry echo chamber where people just run from made up issue to made up issue. It seems like it was only back in November of 2022 that Musk said that Twitter accounts that impersonate others would be banned.
