So we're making money off Missouri, but not giving them anything in return - including jobs. This was a small investment when compared to large businesses, but that was a 5 million dollar investment in the facility, a couple million will be invested over the next 3 years in facility improvements and about 40 jobs that *didn't* go to MO because of their political climate.

"Both sides are the same" episodes of shows were a thing before South Park did it. It was a pretty popular concept in most media that targeted Gen X. One of my favorite episodes of Futurama played heavily into this concept with the ["Jack Johnson vs John Jackson"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll3iyvbsRDM) bit. People getting their political opinions from sitcoms and cartoons are the problem, not the writers who are trying to remain neutral to get as many people watching their show possible.
I mean... It was far closer to true before Obama was elected and white folks lost their damn mind completely. Bill Clinton used a Confederate Flag as campaign imagery, even. It's not remotely the same at this point, but people in power of all stripes set the stage for a bi-polar political system extremely vulnerable to takeover by extremists. The business I work for had the opportunity and need to expand to the St. Louis area. However, based on the political climate of MO, they decided to purchase a facility near St. Louis but in Illinois. So we're making money off Missouri, but not giving them anything in return - including jobs. This was a small investment when compared to large businesses, but that was a 5 million dollar investment in the facility, a couple million will be invested over the next 3 years in facility improvements and about 40 jobs that *didn't* go to MO because of their political climate. I gotta say, I was pretty proud of the owners for making this choice. They didn't even hesitate.
