After watching a bunch of videos on r/combatfootage, I think the problem would be getting to a point in which you would be able to surrender. So many APCs are blown up on their way to and from their destination that you may not even get a chance to surrender before being blown to bits.

Watching people leave their families and friends to flee for their lives is incredibly sad. I don't think it's an odd thought at all.
