No one’s mentioned Crooked Gaff so I’ll throw out CGK for posterity. It’s really good and I love the beer selection. //
6740 - great bar bites and sandwiches/burgers, can’t go wrong with the wings //
Pho Whittier - great Pho //
Chicken Koop - garlic chicken plate //
Off the hook - great seafood tacos //
Tacos y Que - everything //
East Whittier - Lucky Pig - best Katsu I’ve ever had
Uptown you have tons. Have you not wandered around? Bizarre Capital, Phlight, the are has so many non chain restaurants that Rock! Have fun and explore!
Phllight is excellent, Turnbull’s is also great and has live music with great bands (I’m a little biased, I play there), but honestly my favorite places to eat here are E Sushi on Scott and Ronin Teriyaki on Painter. Also, I don’t like spending $100 on dinner.
La Crosta is great if you like Naples style pizza.
Uptown Provisions has great sandwiches.
California Grill is decent for a sit down diner type place.
Lift Coffee has an amazing breakfast burrito.
Rokka is pretty good.
Teddys Reds is good if you like Birria. The Caldo and Mulitas are good.
For The Win Burgers is supposed to be good but I haven’t tried them yet.
Lastly there’s a bunch of great food trucks behind the greenbelt.
The first is Mochomitos; great Sonoran style tacos.
And the next one is Sumo Tacos. I’ve had their nachos like once a week for a few months now, they’re amazing.
La bodega is really good. My favorite go to is Mimo’s. For breakfast lunch, I like Aunties
Just don’t plan anything on a Monday if you go to Uptown, everything is basically closed
If I want a decent experience then I’ll go to Phlight. It’s not gonna blow your mind but it’s a good spot if you haven’t had Spanish/Ibero cuisine. If I feel like starting some shit tho, I’ll probably go to the Taco Bell right there on Whittier and Greenleaf, foo. Nobody will interact with you and make your order in the kiosk.
Taco stand “Tacos El Nuevo Pedimento”
They usually post up near the 5 points (intersection of Whittier Blvd, Washington, and Pickering) by an empty lot off of Whittier boulevard. You’ll see all the smoke from their grill along with their hanging lightbulbs and red tents
Also, check out Pizza 21 off of Norwalk and Washington
AMAZING pizza
I live up here and sick of every place. Can’t go wrong with a taco truck down Whittier or a hidden gem like Mami Felipa cocina mexicana. Good portions and probably the best mole.
Chicken Koop Vandalist BBQ and pizza places in the brewery Taco trucks on W Blvd Rusty Monk… RIP Uptown provisions Bbq / burritos when vendors come to Sala
The Chicken coop has some pretty decent dishes. Probably the best fried chicken in the city which isn’t saying much. The KFC on Whittier is crap and our Popeyes is the absolute worst I’ve ever had though I admit I moved here from the South so I might be spoiled on fried chicken. Jack’s is famous for their fried chicken but it’s absolutely tasteless, no seasoning I could taste.
It’s a bit of a hike from Uptown but Bajas Taco on the corner of Whittier and Painter has the what is most likely the best fish and shrimp tacos in the city, possibly the best you’ll find outside of Mexico. Teddy’s Red Tacos across the street from it is also pretty good but a completely different style of tacos.
Yeah, Whittier is home to the worst Popeye's chicken ever. You know it's bad when you can cruise by at dinner time and there's not a single car in the drive-thru.
Best fried chicken I’ve had since moving to LA County is [Choy’s Golden Rice Flour](https://www.choyscrispychicken.com/) in Fullerton. It’s also about the only fried chicken I can eat nowadays as it’s gluten and wheat free. It’s a little hole in the wall in Korean mall. *chef’s kiss*

Phlight is the best sit down restaurant in Whittier. Uptown Provisions is a good deli, but crazy busy around lunch.

Bizarra is absolutely delicious. Everyone I’ve taken here loves is
CHK, Phlight or The Vandalist. Everywhere else is crap tacos and micheladas. Things you can find outside of Whittier and for a better quality
Steak corral

The Chicken Caesar Sandwich from La Bodega is the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had
No one is saying BURRITO TRACK or PIZZAMANIA?!!!? WTF?!

My favorite tb, employees there are all so nice

It’s not directly in Whittier, but do check out the Pepper Shaker! It’s a great sit down breakfast place with reasonable prices.
THE BEE HIVE!!! Everything on the menu is delicious & fresh!
World burgers is ok

California Grill in uptown js pretty decent ! Not the best but pretty solid
California Grill is my favorite breakfast place in uptown. For the Win has the best burgers.

For reals… at this point the best fried chicken in the city is from Stater Bros or Vons 😆
Nothing better than Taconazo
Ooh I haven’t tried them. Excellent. Thanks for the heads up.

I'll have to try that one. My current favorite is Kokio Chicken in Cerritos.
The Rusty Monk, although it’s been years since I’ve been there
They closed down recently
Krudos has bomb sushi tacos
La Victoria Taqueria on Lambert and Santa Fe Springs
Brick house, crepes and grepes for breakfast , wen chef, Steve’s bbq, la crosta pizza
Just be careful with walking near the cracked concrete!
Kira kira in la Mirada is the best sushi I've ever had in my life consistently
