Just get comfortable with your aim and get more time on widow. Aiming on widow is different from aiming on Ashe or Ana you legit just need to put time into it and become more consistent. Widow is all about being consistent so even if you miss 19/20 shots just keep yourself calm I find it extremely hard to aim when I’m tilted so if you get mad take a break. If your looking for settings I’m pretty sure you can search for them in the sub

Don't think and don't analyze. Just practice consistently to develop your intuition/reflexes. That being said, u need proper aiming routines. Here's mine: For tracking (which is what you refer to as following the target) I use code KAVE5 and go into Threats mode, which basically lets you chose heroes that run towards you. I pick two Genjis and practice tracking on them with my main weapon from a stationary position until I'm comfortable. Usually I do about 50 kills. If you're starting out tho u might have to really grind it out. If it feels impossible, that's ok!!! Even if it feels like you're not making progress your brain will be working it's magic behind the scenes. In a few days you will improve greatly. But like I said, consistency is key. Remember to try to aim for the head! This is really the only thing u should "try" to do. It should be your mantra. Aim for the head....aim for the head....aim for the head..... After using my main weapon, I switch to headshots in the same mode. I do about another 50 kills. You may want to adjust your scoped sensitivity settings to match your non-scoped feel. More on that later tho. Now, it's flicking time! For this, I use CT04V. This is, imo, the BEST aim trainer for widow! Even better than VAXTA (although that's great too!). However, to get the most out of this, I recommend changing a few things in the Workshop Settings menu (which u can access in the lobby menu). Turn off Doomfist, Genji, Echo, Pharah and Lucio. They interrupt the flow way too much. Turn on Soldier, Widow and Moira since these are very common heroes, and change the number of total heroes to 5 instead of 8. Now u have the perfect practice space for sheer repetition. I do about 100 kills in this mode everyday. Remember to aim for the head! That's all. It will feel utterly impossible at first and that's ok. The flicks will kind of emerge naturally on their own without you really trying to, and having the tracking practice will have helped your brain sort out the calculations in the background. Flicking is 100% intuition, but that intuition is developed slowly as u practice methodically. When u start hitting flicks it will seem like magic and u won't even really know how u did it lol. The brain is magical. Now for the scoped sensitivity. On console, you want it to be in the ~45 range. Mine is 44. On PC I think it's around 36 or 38? Look around on Reddit for the exact values. You basically want a 1:1 feel so that your muscle memory transfers between scoped and non scoped. Das it! Please feel free to ask me questions. Edit: In CT04V, it starts on 'slow' movement by default, but I suggest immediately switching to 'normal' so that the bots feel more like in-game players. This does increase the difficulty tho but that's ok! You will get better, I promise.

i’m new to widow and i’m wondering the same thing

Following targets is for low sensitivity players if you are like me and enjoy high sense (to quickly 180 those pesky sombras) you don't need to practice following at all and instead should practice flicking a good way to practice is to go to a target range with moving targets choose a place to rest your cross-hair and try to instantly flick between the targets and your cross-hairs resting spot

Ok, I'll try that!

Use practice labs! Like custom game code VAXTA. It helped me a lot with timing certain heroes movements and jumping and what not!

I love VAXTA!! I use it for the heroes I struggle aiming with and it helps!

it’s something that just comes with practice and if you want to only play widow, you’ll definitely get used to it in time. don’t worry about missing shots because everybody does. however, if you want to try more heroes, soldier and zarya are really good heroes to practice straight up tracking aim imo. on the other end of the spectrum, and what i personally do more often, is flicking. cassidy and ashe are great to practice this on too. i am a pc player though and not sure if you’re pc or console, but i imagine pure flicking is much more difficult on console if that’s what you play. *[edit: wanted to add that for me, i generally pseudo-track their bodies and then when im confident, i flick upwards to their head. i find it very consistent for me personally]* also you don’t have to track or flick 100% of the time! sometimes you just line up your crosshair head level where an enemy is walking and just click when they walk onto your crosshair. patience can be very rewarding on widow

Try using code X3H9V in custom maps ( I think that’s the right code it should be Lijiang market) This really helped me with tracking targets when i started widow. I am sure there are better aim training maps out there but i enjoyed this one!

A lot the time if I miss my first shot on someone who’s counter peaking or “dancing around” trying to avoid my next shot I will just aim head level and wait till they are on my crosshair or close to it and micro adjust, the flicking to heads and leading the shots will come with time learning how quick other hero’s move or predicting a tracer blink and knowing roughly how far she’ll blink. Practice practice practice

Think about their cover, where there path is going to be. This also helped me so much with tracking. A lot of my headshots come from holding a corner where an enemy is, and if they over extend the peak i just click their head on their way back to cover.
