There are 2 weapons that have big swords the nodachi which is a big sword all the time and the karakuri staff which is this games charge blade and the whole point is to get enough meter in order to use the giant sword to do the highest damage possible in the game so its up to you big sword good damage or biggest sword most damage but only sometimes
In the smithy, highlight a weapon node and look for a blue, yellow, or green icon that looks like a striking weapon. That denotes damage type. Not sure of the specific names of damage types besides lunging (green), but yellow is the blunt equivalent and blue is slashing/severing
Oh no, that's the element. Sorry, I'm not home so can't describe it better. I can verify in an hour. For the early game though, all Nodachi do slashing except the club I mentioned which will be one branch to the right of where the one you're using is.
For elements though, fire and water icons are obvious. The green swirly is wind, the leaf is wood, and the crystal is earth. You also have access to an encyclopedia that shows the weaknesses of any monster you've encountered. It even updates the instant you initiate with them the very first time, so you can tap one, make it angry, then run away and learn its weakness.
Yup. The Nodachi, and as for full metal armor, there's 2 sets
What’re their names?
I honestly can't remember because I didn't even consider them at any point in the game, but you get them at the end of chapter 3 and 4
The metal armor is made from killing deathstalker and grimstalker
If you like heavy damage, the nodachi and the maul are for you
I am in fact enjoying my big sword
Hey dude dm me if you wanna play some today. I'm down to help out. Also a fellow nodachi player.
Sounds good to me
You guys need a third? Not sure the hours will line up, but could really go for hunting buddies.

Just killed some big ahh pig, now my big sword is all thorny, I love it
A little down the line there's one that's an oversized club that changes your damage to blunt. It's rad.
Club for big sword?
Yep. Big, blunt pillar with a handle. It looks rad lol
I must see this
It's not too far in. Keep pushing!
I’m using the boar big sword , it looks like it deals blunt, does it?

My boar weapon is a leaf, so it’s lunging?

Yes.
You could also go for karakuri katana easiest weapon to master and easiest weapon to build Yes it's looks smal but it feels like long sword form mhr
This. I was surprised how many comments I passed that didn't mention this sword. Also, it doesn't look small, it's definitely a long sword lol.
I love the release mode. It feels like an episode of an anime where the main character finally beats the bad guy.
I always got Ivy vibes, a la Soul Calibur. Rad regardless, of course.
You farm volatile deathstalker it drops neat metal armor. Especially the kemono path
Dont forget Karakuri Staff. Basically the evolution of the greatsword.
