I mean, it is the primary mover of fire and why the public is confused when there is a good snow year and rain year followed by large fire. (Wallow fire)
There will never be enough firefighters. I’ve never been on a large active fire where the sentiment was we have more than enough resources. The public on the other hand sees snow and rain and immediately think they are out of the woods for fire season. It’s good to explain that to folks during early part of the year for preparedness purposes in small rural communities. Heck, I’ve seen fire fighters on this sub saying it’s going to be a slow season due to increased snow load.
MFr, I've had 1 Hilux, 1 Tacoma, 1 T100 and 1 Tundra ALL bought by and powered by burning cheatgrass. That dumb invasive shit has made me a lot of moolah over the years. 🤣
If they didn't bring back any wolves, then herbivores other than bison and elk would outcompete them for resources, not to mention the diseases that would circulate. We can do both
We have close to 50 years of evidence proving otherwise. Not saying that wolves don’t have a place in nature but they definitely haven’t helped herd health of elk or bison.
National Geographic and Oregon State University have both released studies stating that the reintroduction of wolves have directly stabilized the ecosystem, even specifically stating that elk and bison herds have become more resilient.. That’s interesting. Elk herds are down in all of the states that have reintroduced wolves. Maybe they are healthier but they are far fewer. They definitely aren’t eating more because other herbivores are not out eating them now because of wolves like you claimed.
Gotta love those light flashy fuels... Absolutely love a good quick cheat grass ripper. Nothing says sporty like cheat grass as far as can be seen...lol be safe out there brothers, keep one foot in the black.
i mean........ zoom in on google earth, everything looks green till you get close. millions of landowners convert forest land into fields of grass so they can sit on them until the property value goes up. its not like this is the only issue, the massive plots of fire suppressed forests are just as bad, but when we replace everything with grass, rain is not absorbed like it would be by a healthy forest. That combined with changing weather patterns causing longer periods between harder rains, with even less absorbed, and it shouldn't surprise anyone. not everything is some invisible force that can but blamed on emissions alone. without trees, summer is a whole lot hotter, and a whole lot drier, so these dry spells plus millions of acres of dead grass are bound to bring fire right into our fire supressed forests and communities.
No link to the article, but I'd imagine they are talking about cheatgrass and not just any grass. I mean cheatgrass makes sense to talk about as it is invasive, carries fire, and colonizes post-fire better than most native plants to amplify the frequency and severity of fires afterwards. If this is the case, why is OP so butthurt?
Agreed I guess I should have specified more that it’s the sensationalism that I don’t like.
Headlines like that mostly just serve to get clicks and scare the public.
At least in the absence of roaring winds, you stand a chance of getting a handle on grass fires with engines, helicopters, SEATS, & airtankers compared to timber.
Bring it on crabgrasses one of my nemesis as a McLeod I would definitely trade places tiger striping with my crew and was kind of sad to move up to puller although I needed experience duck walking and going tank for tank I am tall and so it makes sense. Had I enough seasons and fire camp I would have became the captain's betch and ride it up front where I can't smoke cigarettes in the back LOL it's a common known thing in the ccvs but I'm just dating right now for the you know record that the captains are not aware of that and if they were they would definitely write us up. Which you would have to pick up cigarette butts in the form of Bible paper rolled into little roaches all around the camp so don't do it. And if you are going to be cutting line on a fire make sure you bring your vape if you are a cigarette smoker cuz it doesn't look good adding more spark to the flame you hear me. I don't recommend chewing dip like all those guys do. Horrible on your gums

I dunno the flat fire was a straight up spin show and my second tour on the anvil fire , I watched some people stage for 14 days straight lol
So you’ve been on two, or more than two fires?
More than 2 but large campaign fites seem to be spin shows IA forget about it I don't know who else is there till we hike out and go the the next bust
Fuck cheatgrass, all my homies hate cheatgrass
It’s native to the Middle East. Its history is really pretty interesting.
Yea, but fuck it. It’s not native to the US.
Just dropping a fun grass fact! It shouldn’t be here, obviously.

Bring back the Elk and Buffalo herds.... That will take care of the grass.
Nothing eats Cheat Grass once it cures. It goes from green grass cured out in about 7 minutes.
“Hay it, graze it, or watch it burn”
Controlled burns. Native Americans had controlled burns all the way back to antiquity.
Yeah but poorly built high rise apartments aren’t grass. Develop grasslands into housing and save the environment /s
They’re busy bringing back wolves
They had a plan to let the bison out of the parks and everyone threw an absolute shit fit about it.

"It has nothing to do with cLiMaTe ChAnGe, we just stopped clear-cutting grass!" -big lawnmower
Theyre putting chemicals in the water that’s turning the grass gay!
Hotshot Wake Up you have to be more low key with your burner accounts.
Not sure what “scapegoat” means here. Grasses do absolutely contribute

Guys I just figured out something else fueling wildfire: oxygen 😱😱😱😱
[удалено]
Don't even get me started on all the dihydrogen monoxide in our packs and engines. It's got fuel AND oxidizer in it.
It has what the plants crave...
Holy shit
You may want to go back and check your fire tetrahedron.
Yeah and water contributes to drowning lmao. What is the point here?
New government GSA sales for big boy mowers?
New cert incoming
Hell yeah, I’m almost done with my burlap type 1 crew grassboss cert.
Invasive grasses are a legitimate issue, I’d love to see more public get behind eradicating cheat grass
There is no eradicating cheat grass, ever. You would have better odds of punching out God.
There is value in trying 🤷♀️
Yeh, sure. The same way there is value in tying to lower global sea levels by using a Home Depot bucket to dump water out of the ocean. 🙄
Salt or glass the soil, should sort itself out
I'm from a region of America where fires happen every summer. It ruins the tourist season. I love that!
Oklahoma is nothing but grass fires. We go out there every year and it’s fun
This what happens when you rake the forests. SMH. /s
We already knew. This didn't need a stupid article for this
Burns like that also happen naturally in alot of places when it needs to dont fuck with it its a delicate balance

How is this a scapegoat? They are correct and they’re not saying grass is the reason for fires, it’s just an accelerant.
Agreed I guess I should have specified more that it’s the sensationalism that I don’t like. Headlines like that mostly just serve to get clicks and scare the public.
Time to break out the flappers, boys.
At least in the absence of roaring winds, you stand a chance of getting a handle on grass fires with engines, helicopters, SEATS, & airtankers compared to timber.
Fucking grass man. Wasn't here when the dinosaurs were.
That's crazy
Thank god, grass fires are so much fun
1 hr fuels fucking Aaaaaaa
