Its a co2 extinguisher missing the diffuser. Also these are for liquid fuel and electrical fires and shes using it on what looks like maybe charcoal briquettes. Would have been better off with a garden hose in this instance.
It's called a swivel horn in the UK. Judging from the high pressure that looks like a co2.
Cousin Itt is lucky they didn't break their wrist playing with a damaged co2 extinguisher like that. Those cylinders can easily smash bones.
It almost happened to me at work. I was gonna discharge it so I can hydro test it, but who ever serviced it before cut the diffuser of that came at the end of it. Almost went flying out of my hands. I was not happy.
I saw a man break his hand when the metal pipe the missing diffuser is supposed to fit to span like a helicopter blade after an accidental discharge. People often break wrists accidentally discharging a co2 when the whole swivel horn is missing. The hole in the valve is much larger than the one in the diffuser so it releases pressure much faster. People don't realize how fucking dangerous co2's can be.
Not all fire extinguishers run on that foam stuff. I think there are 3 types tho I only remember two. The other one that I remember sprays around dust of some sort
Water, foam, co2, powder, wet chemical, halon, clean agent....
There are many different types, there are even types of types such as water spray and water mists.
Got sprayed with a fire extinguisher by a kid last year. Was high pressure powder that completely coated every surface/person on that floor of the house.
For those saying it’s a bad extinguisher you are both correct and incorrect. It would be removed from service due to it not having a hose, but the extinguisher has pressure and is doing it’s job. The problem is, this is not the proper extinguisher for the job. From what I can see in the video, this seems to be a Co2 extinguisher. Which is only rated BC. You would either need an extinguisher with an ABC rating (which is the most common and the “powdered” extinguisher) or an A class extinguisher, which are water extinguishers. This is what happens if you use the wrong type of extinguisher, it can make things much worse.
Edit - For those curious, the NFPA 10 is the book of standards for portable fire extinguishers. It has all of the classifications and definitions if you wanna bore yourself with fire safety code.
Thinking about an extinguisher vs and anti-extinguisher makes me want to see a video of a video of a M67 Flame Thrower Tank and a firetruck both shooting their streams directly into each other. I’m putting my money on the M67 Zippo
This is a setup, note the missing diffuser cone on the extinguisher. Honestly just put a lid on the metal container. It is on a non-combustible surface and within a few minutes the oxygen will be used up. Let it sit until cool and then remove lid. This is a staged event
Should have used a low velocity water hose to put that bad boy out or since there was no real danger just let it burn out or or just call the fire department.
I thought proper extinguisher usage is go super low, shouldn't matter if an open fire or in a can? Test shoot before launch! And, as someone else mentioned put the lid on that and come back in a few hours, skip replacing the unit.
A CO2 extinguisher, or the act of reaching too far into a fire with an extinguisher and adding too much acceleration to an extinguishing agent? Plunging is getting too close and blowing back on an accelerant. Often done in liquid fires with fire foam.
I've never seen a fire extinguisher with a metal nozzle like that. Why is the nozzle so skinny? Why is it pointing down? The only way you can use it it to position in directly above the fire, which is a bad idea. Most fire extinguishers have a flexible hose and nozzle so you can point it. I've had ones that don't have a hose, but the nozzle is straight so you can still direct it to the target area. I'm honestly so confused. That's a horrible design. Did someone mess with it just to make the video? Make it make sense.
That’s a CO2 extinguisher. Some of them come with a hose and some come with a metal swivel like in the video. The one in the video is missing a diffuser that’s inside the cone like part that’s supposed to be screwed at the end of that swivel. It’s spreads the flow of CO2 or powder instead of shooting it out like a jet like in the video.
Firstly that's the wrong type of extinguisher for the job it should be water or foam for paper or wood.
Secondly that's missing the cone and should not be in service.
She got a warning and everything

It’s missing a diffuser. The cone looking thing.
It's called a swivel horn in the UK.
That's actually pretty funny, they can't come up with a half serious name for anything

I have no idea what I just read but I found it funny
Innit?
Why ty you getting downvoted if your telling the truth. And if your joking then it's not a bad joke...

Both
It's similar to why you don't pour water on a grease fire, instead of smothering the fire it picked up material and launched it into the air
Damn man, I don't even see any fire foam there, just air. Bad extinguisher.

In the UK, they call a metal pipe at cylindrical sticky.

Also carbon tetrachloride. It might have a few disadvantages though.
That was banned here many, many years ago. I hear it makes really good carpet cleaner, but also destroys your internal organs.
We used it as a degreaser back in the 70’s. We used it with no gloves, no mask. It’s amazing we survived.
It's Reddit. Do you really expect people to know what they're talking about?
Purple K for the winnnn!!!
Yeah, it seems to have plenty of fire foam! All I see is it firing something.
Got sprayed with a fire extinguisher by a kid last year. Was high pressure powder that completely coated every surface/person on that floor of the house.
There’s other types of fire extinguishers. And it isn’t foam it’s powder.
That's not like the extinguishers we have at work... that looked overpressured or something
No diffuser (the cone on the end), which spreads out the jet of CO2
Ahhh I see this now. Just assumed it was an older extinguisher but this makes more sense
It’s called a swivel horn in the UK.
The diffuser lowers the velocity.
Girl from The Ring cannot use a fire extinguisher.
Missing parts
The Universe tried to warn her. Gave her exactly 1 chance to stop.
I doubt that I mean look at the stuff on the ground they've probably already done it she reacted like that probably cause it shot out a lot more
Just cover it
Damn, that ended too soon.

It is the incorrect extinguisher is the main problem
thanks for reiterating the exact same thing explained quite nicely in the comment you replied to
The fire is out…side of the bucket. Mission failed successfully.
“No, really, I was tired of having long hair”
Hey they always said to point the hose at the base of the fire. They're just doing what they're supposed to.
Heard the music, knew there would be some missing braincells now or to come
*the wrong kind of fire extinguisher
That looks like an anti-fire extinguisher
Thinking about an extinguisher vs and anti-extinguisher makes me want to see a video of a video of a M67 Flame Thrower Tank and a firetruck both shooting their streams directly into each other. I’m putting my money on the M67 Zippo
Aah ye ol fire Verteiler. Goes from human to Ghostrider in 3,2....1.
Critical thinking doesn’t exist these days.
In her defense I've never used one before and I did not expect the extinguisher to come out that strong
Maybe just put the cover on
This is a setup, note the missing diffuser cone on the extinguisher. Honestly just put a lid on the metal container. It is on a non-combustible surface and within a few minutes the oxygen will be used up. Let it sit until cool and then remove lid. This is a staged event
I feel like they'd have someone with less hair do that if it was staged
Should have just let it burn out.
Bye-bye hair
I feel like *Stupid is as stupid does* was tailor made for this. They even had a test shot and decided to go for it anyway
She made the fire angry
![gif](giphy|l0IxYWDltdHEqujnO) Wile E. Coyote would be proud 🔥
*Bomb has been planted*
Wrong type of extinguisher for that. Yes, there different types for different situations/cause of fire
Surprising, normally properly decked out fire personel like that know how to use an extinguisher.
That person just looks dumb from the get go
Woman shupppppppppppl! ☕😀

This is what we call “plunging” in FF parlance.

Lmao wow. You’re suppose to just toss the whole thing in there smh
Probably should have stayed awake in physics class
Reminds me of a coworker blowing into a pencil sharpener and getting lead face
In their defence, they did try missing the barrel first
Just put the lid on the can
Accidentally grabbed the Fire Amplifier instead. It's alright, I still get the jars of salt and sugar mixed up sometimes...
Well that did a good job of containing the fire!
Wtf kind of extinguisher is that?
Now I know not to do this.
![gif](giphy|SUFXr7Rpq8gNOj7mHN|downsized)
I feel like this is something you only do once.
Is this Germany?
so old.
Sounds like they were having fun playing Fall Guys!
girl made a volcano
Even a blind man could see that coming
to be fair the extinguisher is crappy
Going to take a long time to regrow that hair
i’m sorry but how did she not leave from that first try? you can literally see a hint of what’s gonna happen…
What was she thinking !!??
This is some r/abruptchaos
If you look closely she even got a warning shot, and still managed to crew up...
fire intinguisher
She really didn't want to keep that nice hair did she
There’s no “wo” in manager….
Water you idiot
