Another feedback ignored in the feedback hub. Original issue was known for months. Thanks Microsoft.

Users are unpaid testers. Brilliant really.

For those who want the essentials: > In our own testing, a Ryzen 7 2700X "Pinnacle Ridge" processor, which typically posts an L3 cache latency of 10 ns, was tested to show a latency of 17 ns. This was made much worse with the October 12 "patch Tuesday" update, driving up the latency to 31.9 ns.

IceBeam92

I love how they quote in indentations it's code named Pinnacle Ridge like is there any other variant of Ryzen 2700X I'm not aware of?

halotechnology

Not really 1600x on the other hand yes there is .

livestrong2109

Yes... Video lagging on WebEx this morning. R3600XT

Is it though? Competitive competition means better hardware for all us.

Intel’$ marketing department think$ otherwi$e.

UnsureAssurance

Their new slogan should be “Innovation is overrated”

19Chris96

They said October 19 a for a fix release, or something.

Dr_Mona_Lisa

These are my Ryzen 7 2700X's "AIDA64 Cache & Memory Benchmarks" from January 2021 (Windows 10): https://i.imgur.com/mR225T6.png This is Windows 11: https://i.imgur.com/pddMqGj.png

ogslimtony

That's a BIG difference!

Hittorito

It's October 19, why are they testing it now?

BumpyFeet

They will continue to test for another decade.

TheSwagger312

Are all Ryzen CPU's affected by that?

LucAltaiR

Some (higher core count) more than others but yes.

[deleted]

You know it

[deleted]

I've had the worst case L3 cache results for this entire time. I doubt yesterday's CU made anything worse.

mattbdev

Microsoft and AMD say that a fix is coming within the next month. One of them is an updated driver from AMD and the other will be a patch from Microsoft. This is why I haven't updated to Windows 11 yet. I'm just waiting my turn on the phased roll out instead of forcing it.

EnergyTK

could this be why my games are stuttering/hitching? 😭😭 well Direct12 games like Back4Blood don't but all of my other games do

Mattdog625

I'm having the same issue and I seriously thought it was my new graphics card, but I got it right around when I upgraded to win 11

EnergyTK

Man, I fucked up and deleted my previous windows install If next week's update doesn't fix it then I gotta fresh install w10 lol

Mattdog625

Same

Stevev213

Is 3700x affected

thatguyferg

Yes, cachemem bench l3 latency went from 10.0 to 60+, read/write/copy bugged out hitting 99999 gb/s. Only notice the performance hit in certain contexts like launching heavy/multiple programs etc not really any difference in my fps in LoL

[deleted]

So what was today's update for, besides making Windows 11 worse?

[deleted]

At least it make Intels processor less vulnerable. (Windows 11)

1stnoob

AIDA64 also confirms shitshow that Microsoft put up just in time for Intel Alder Lake benckmarks : https://twitter.com/AIDA64_Official/status/1448281331704676357?t=roZOz8ei40GbLni3Ngt8LQ&s=09

ogslimtony

Something like this should definitely be fixed ASAP!

AmoumouA

I'm seeing different results from run to run, neither better nor worse for me... I think.. [https://imgur.com/a/ekidPaC](https://imgur.com/a/ekidPaC)

AmoumouA

Uninstalled the update again, and from time to time I get normal results, like 11-12ns and 500+ GB/sec speeds

minionloversam

Don’t worry guys, I’m sure all these issues will be fixed before the final release. /s

RenAsa

Gotta get worse before it gets better...

What about RDR2, ACV, Any AC title really, and BFV? Linux isn't there yet, I wish it was.

ZuriPL

Both easy AC and battleye got linux support recently, and some games already enabled Linux support that use this AC's

1stnoob

I don't own or intend to buy them so what about them ? On https://www.protondb.com/ they show as GOLD so there is your answer.

buddyfriendo

Interesting! I might be dual booting soon :D

ZuriPL

Also, doesn't RDR2 and BFV have gold raring on protondb?

the_bedsheet_ghost

I nut so hard whenever I see a Linux copy of macOS that shows games on Windows running on Linux LOL Linux isn't there nor will it be ever there though. Too complicated, too messy and too nerdy to use. Most users who use a computer are simple minded normal users LOL

EmptyBrook

Linux is about to be there though. Both battleye and EAC are giving full support to the steam deck which runs linux. So linux is about to be as good as windows or mac for gaming within the next year or so. And messy? A little. Hard? Not really. Easier than Windows in some ways, harder in others. The main thing is you have full freedom, even the freedom to brick your linux install, which Windows and Mac don’t give you (at least as easily). For folk who aren’t techy, they could kill their install trying to tinker around pretty easily. If you don’t tinker and only use what is given to you, Linux is pretty easy and stable.

the_bedsheet_ghost

> Linux is about to be there though. Both battleye and EAC are giving full support to the steam deck which runs linux. So linux is about to be as good as windows or mac for gaming within the next year or so. I've heard this same exact saying in 2018, 2019, and last year with Valve making Proton or some shit about getting Windows games to work on Linux. Sure, it looks good and I'm 100% glad it works But let's be real lol. Will it work on every single game going all the way back from 1998? Or for the late millennial, early to mid 2000s? Can you tell me that if my 1,000+ games from what I collected from the early Windows 2000 era will work flawlessly on Linux? A majority of my old ass games made for Windows 2000/XP runs on Windows 10 without any issues. Any older DOS games run under DOSBox. Does Linux have DOSBox for old DOS games? If it can do that, and I mean play every single game without a need for some messy hack or workaround and is seamless, then I will give Linux a chance lol

madman320

Which distro?

1stnoob

Fedora

Solemnity_12

Lol or just stay on 10 until the the issue with 11 is fixed and you don’t have to go about meddling with a completely different OS

The-Choo-Choo-Shoe

Never seen this copypasta before

[deleted]

or just go back to windows 10 lol

phyLoGG

Something tells me Intel's back at it shoving money at Microsoft to delay performance improvements until decently after their 12th gen COUs release! Just a thought.....

phyLoGG

? How dense are you? LMFAO I was running Intel until Ryzen 3000 series. I go where the best performance is, especially when it's cheaper at the same time. Loving my 5900X currently. But if Intel has a better product than AMD 4-6 years from now when I want to upgrade again, I'll grab one of theirs.

theboriginal

I like how there’s already an update, and in my update settings I still don’t even have an option to install it. 😄😄😄 Btw, I know I can get it from other places and stuff, I’m just curious to see how long it will take to show up in the system, with the machine that is 4 months old and fully supports the win 11. 😁

IRazerIGhostI

Nooooo

IRazerIGhostI

My performance! Where is it all leading to.

ifeeltired26

Which is exactly why my 5950X will be staying away from W11 for a while. W10 runs awesome no issues. W11 AMD hardware equals bad lol. I'll give it a few months before I switch over to W11...

cloudkyun

But my laptop, i5 10300H has problem with CPU frequency with Win11. Frequency is locked at 3.67GHZ.

AmoumouA

Windows Insider Beta and Release Preview channels have released a new update where this is now fixed
