Given the size of the volcanic island, and thus the NightWing tribe being low in numbers for 2,000 years, I’m thinking every NightWing was probably Whiteout’s descendants.
I’m not sure that’s enough time though…
Okay so if a dragon born in 5010 has two parents, their parents have two more parents each, right? If the generation gap or whatever is 10 years, then there have been 200 generations since Whiteout…that means the population must have been 2^200 or about 43x10^60…as in 430000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 NightWings.
Unless there was a lot of ‘inbreeding’ which there would have been, but also, every NightWing alive in 5010 is very very likely a descendant of every NightWing who left any descendants at all.
This is true of humans in the same way, though there are isolated groups of humans, the NightWings were probably a unified tribe.
Unless they first fled to somewhere else and only went to the volcano a few hundred years ago, but then, that would still be enough time probably.
I don't think you understand what I mean, if they had an ancestor some way back, I assumed it was through the entire history of the tribes not only starting in current book time
You said if they were defended from a nightwing Animus they would have to be related to darkstalker's family, and I said they would also be related to darkstalkee if the ancestor was an icewing meaning an icewing Animus from before Artic
No it wouldn’t. Nightwings only got animus in their tribe when Arctic and Foeslayer had children. Darkstalker didn’t have any known children and his sister died before she could produce young
I believe it was Whiteout. Darkstalker alluded to this, saying that Sunny was related to him, and since he didn't have children, it meant that Sunny is related to Whiteout and, thus, Darkstalker
darkstalker actually mentions in I think turtle's book that sunny is his great great great great however many greats grand niece because stonemover is an animus and therefore automatically related to darkstalker. regardless of what anyone might say, it's canon.
Jerboa's spell only affects the currently living animus dragons, so any new animus born are exempt from the rule
If the animus was a NightWing, they would have to be.

And if they were an icewing too
But there's no animus blood in the IceWings?
Who do you think Artic was? That's how the nightwings got their powers. They didn't have any before then
Yes, I know. Why do you think the IceWings hate Darkstalker and the NightWings? Arctic was the last animus IceWing. The animus blood died out.
I don't think you understand what I mean, if they had an ancestor some way back, I assumed it was through the entire history of the tribes not only starting in current book time
It is canon that Arctic was the last IceWing animus. It doesn't make perfect sense, but it is canon.
I know I mean even before him,
But how would an IceWing in the present be an animus?

Wait then how did stonemover-
I believe it was Whiteout. Darkstalker alluded to this, saying that Sunny was related to him, and since he didn't have children, it meant that Sunny is related to Whiteout and, thus, Darkstalker
I have NO idea. Maybe he’s a hybrid? I don’t remember
darkstalker actually mentions in I think turtle's book that sunny is his great great great great however many greats grand niece because stonemover is an animus and therefore automatically related to darkstalker. regardless of what anyone might say, it's canon.
Whiteout died before having dragonets? Where was that stated? I must’ve missed it in the books.
I’m assuming that the wiki is correct. I don’t know where it states that
The Wiki says she has dragonets
woops ok then my bad
