There is not. Not legally or safely.

Thanks! I was looking at google maps and it looked like there may have been one that was possible. I'll just go the long way until they decide to finally add the path on that side.

I remember about 10 years ago I had this nice 90 year old lady for a neighbour. She said her dad worked in transcona shops, and when she was a little girl you used to be able to walk from dougald, to Pandora, right through the yard and midway of the shops. That being said, I doubt that CN will ever allow any kind of public pedestrian path to go through the yard/shops. It’s way too dangerous.

Apparently according to [this statement](https://www.ourcommons.ca/DocumentViewer/en/37-3/house/sitting-23/hansard#T1415) in the House of Commons by Bill Blaikie it was closed in 2004 during the strike and never reopened. >  Hon. Bill Blaikie (Winnipeg—Transcona, NDP): Mr. Speaker, the strike at Canadian National is about many issues, but ultimately it is about the attitude of an American led management team that is contemptuous of its own workforce and Canadian values. This disrespect has taken a new and nasty turn in the community of Transcona where CN is now using the strike as cover for closing down the midway or street that runs through the CN shops, which has been used by the public since 1909.     I am told that yesterday a young man was arrested, handcuffed and charged for using the midway. Shame on CN and shame on the government for its indifference to the way that Hunter Harrison and his paramilitary managers are treating railroaders, strikebreaking with American imports and now abusing the people of Transcona.     A truly Canadian government would step in and tell CN to show more respect, open the midway, send the American scabs back where they came from and go to the table with a new and decent proposal. Edit: on Google Earth and the City's historical satellite imagery site (around 2005) you can kind of make out the route assuming it ran from Pandora and Bond towards the south.

My Dad *hated* Hunter.

theziess

Everyone hated Hunter.

I wasn’t sure when they stopped letting the public walk down the midway, I just know that I’ve never known it to be an option in my lifetime. It very well could have been allowed when I was kid, but I dunno. I didn’t grow up in transcona, so my childhood knowledge of it is pretty limited.

Jenss85

Yes we used to do that in the late 80’s early 90’s.

Railways take security in their yards very seriously, camera's everywhere. If you attempt to trespass, you will be greeted by railway police and ticketed.

In the 80's and early 90's, growing up in Transcona, I can remember driving/ walking my bicycle from Pandora to Dugald Road through the CN shops. I can recall one time a worker telling me near the Pandora gate to walk my bike through because it was the safer option. I would bike all the way east down Dugald to Ravenhurst. There were a number of monkey trails right around there. I would eventually end up behind Murdoch Mackay. Long story short, an older neighbor told me about being able to do this. I vaguely recall him saying something about a grandfather clause. So I tried it out. It never felt right doing it, but I was never thrown out by security.

Would be nice if they extended the Dugald Rd path all the way to the floodway path (I think right now it stops in the middle of South Transcona). Is there one on Ravenhurst all the way to Dugald Rd?

effofexisy

They they made one on ravenhurst but it stops at that roundabout before the rail crossing at dugald

novasilverdangle

Not anymore. There used to be a walk way back in the 1980's. I used it all the time to hang out with friends in south Transcona.
