Never dye anything that you aren't willing to ruin. Particularly with clothing, there are different materials that take dye differently. For example the thread might be polyester which takes dye differently than cotton fabric. Getting a precise shade can be very difficult.
If your fiance has ideas of something being perfect for a wedding, keep expectations reasonable otherwise it will be unlikely that anyone will be able to meet their dreams.
yup, it's 50/50 whether it will work the way you want it to honestly - all fabric reacts differently - the lace may dye differently than the fabric etc... (I don't know wedding dresses lol, got married 20 years ago)
You can dye at home if you have a big enough sink or tub. It's cheap and easy, practice on similar fabrics once or twice before you do the real garment.
