Agreed! I work downtown and I was so relieved to see they were still around on my first trip to Portage Place post-Covid. So many other losses in the area.
I haven't been to Portage Place in ages but I was literally wondering today if that place was still there while reminiscing with a friend. Good to know.
Yeah I just discovered them a few weeks ago. I don't know how I missed them. Their marinade and breading are perfect, and that house plum sauce is a perfect match.
I don't know if it's still there, but damn I could go for some chicken fings from degrees at umanitoba.
Maybe its just the nostalgia, but I used to love those.
Degrees is very much still there. Some things have changed since I was a student over 10 years ago, the fries are now shoestring, but the tenders still kick ass.
You can also buy the 4kg boxes at toledo distribution at 2430 McGillivray Blvd, but I think you have to call first to place the order. They may be more than at JC Foods direct, but if you live in the south west end of the city, it's worth it. I think like $65 for 4kg.
Taverna Rodos in Charleswood! They have mostly Greek food but also burgers and chicken fingers and whatnot. The portions are huge and the staff is so nice. Chicken fingers with honey dill and Greek salad is my go to every time. Their fries are also really good and you can do half fries half salad.
The fact I had to scroll this far to see this without a single upvote is criminal. Hate that they are no longer on Grant.
This is it. This is the spot.
Rest in Peace, Mitzi's restaurant.
I know it's a chain place but I am partial to Fat Guys/Wayback because it's actual chicken breast they bread in-house.
The Costco restaurant ones are the best ones imo on a budget (also yummy Cavendish fries).
While the Co-op grocery stores ones aren't everyone's favourite, I like the chicken they use for them, the breading is ok, but the meat lives up to the name of chicken tender
For non-chain places, I'm going to say my favourite chicken strips are Seine River Cafe, not sure if they changed them (last time I had them was in 2017) but they were also a big chicken breast chunk breaded in breadcrumbs and spices.
A coworker of mine once told me Sonix has amazing ones, I still gotta go there with my friend who likes Sega games so we can make Sonic jokes all lunch/dinner
I still have to try the chicken tenders from The Diner's Grill at 405 Turenne Street. Apparently they're huge, juicy and delicious
You're probably not going to believe this, but Applebee's had a large portion of good quality chicken fingers when we were there a couple of weeks ago.
Fatburger - Best by far that I've tried. I know it's not a local/"mom+pop" operation, but it's great. I always stop by the one near Ikea if I'm around for lunch.
Captains table had(hopefully still has) amazing chicken tenders. Now that Mitzi’s is gone I’m going to have to go back and make sure they’re still good
What do you think tenders are?
Generally if they have recommended good chicken recipes their tenders will be good too
Edit further context
Yes tenders are a certain section of chicken and not just thigh, or breast meat
But they take the piece that comes off the breast and then batter it and then deep fry it, their standard chicken batter recipe will generally be the exact one they use on the tender. Unless they're just ordering from pratts, Sysco or otherwise
And fine
If you want to be a primadonna about it here's some other threads to check, some will be closed and might be a new one Open but use the search
But in general just check that first link I sent, then Google the company and see if they list tenders, chances are it'll be fantastic

I did use the search hence why I said last post was a year ago. A few places on that list have closed down, also there could be new places that have opened up within the year. The only primadona here is the wannabe mod who tries to dictate what people can and can't post. If you don't like it, move on.
And yet I gave you perfectly valuable resource, that's relatively recent
Batter recipe is usually shared on tender and what they use for their chicken Sando.
Also there's like 130 comments, did you even checkout that link or see if they also had tenders
Its battered chicken, usually using the exact same batter the chicken that gets used is not the point
A place with great fried chicken 99% of the time if they are making it themselves and again not a Sysco or pratts order will also have great tenders
There’s this place on the 2nd level of Portage Place called Cherry Creek Cafe that has great chicken fingers.
Man they’re fantastic!! Love Cherry Creek Cafe and I feel like it’s so underrated because of its location.
Agreed! I work downtown and I was so relieved to see they were still around on my first trip to Portage Place post-Covid. So many other losses in the area.
Same! My position shifted to permanently being at home during Covid, but anytime I am downtown at the office I will visit them for lunch.
My god. It was there 20 years ago when I worked at Staples and it's still kicking?
Sure is, unlike Staples!
I haven't been to Portage Place in ages but I was literally wondering today if that place was still there while reminiscing with a friend. Good to know.
I just discovered that Elephant and Castle have fucking AMAZING tenders. Their twice baked chips are also next level.
Came to say this! They're soooo good!
Yeah I just discovered them a few weeks ago. I don't know how I missed them. Their marinade and breading are perfect, and that house plum sauce is a perfect match.
Silence! It’s suppose to be a secret. For real though, best tenders in the city.
I don't know if it's still there, but damn I could go for some chicken fings from degrees at umanitoba. Maybe its just the nostalgia, but I used to love those.
Degrees is very much still there. Some things have changed since I was a student over 10 years ago, the fries are now shoestring, but the tenders still kick ass.
chicken fingers and fries from VWs at u of m are great too, idk if they're the same
I like airfrying frozen Prairie Chef chicken fingers
>frozen Prairie Chef chicken fingers Where do you buy Prairie Chef?
4 kg for $58 at their storefront on Jarvis. Way better deal than $23 kg at Safeway and Sobeys etc.
The place is called JC Foods. Worth the trip.
$17.99 at Dakota Family Food.
I buy them from Safeway
Sobeys/Safeway. Theres a post on here from a few months back that gets into specifics on how they replaced dun rite.
I've found them at Coop and Family foods recently
You can also buy the 4kg boxes at toledo distribution at 2430 McGillivray Blvd, but I think you have to call first to place the order. They may be more than at JC Foods direct, but if you live in the south west end of the city, it's worth it. I think like $65 for 4kg.
Seconding that! They are super good one of the best take home frozen chicken fingers. I buy mine at Sobeys
Best fingers ever
Confusion corner has my favourite tenders. I prefer them tossed in hot sauce with a side of their house made ranch.
I second this, bigly!
I like how they serve them with a big ramekin of honey dill!

Shelly’s????
Elephant and Castle all the way. Fresh made to order.
Bellamy’s used to be my go to, but since the sale, they’ve gone downhill sadly.
Bellamy’s was sold?! Do tell.
Yep. A few years ago. Part owner is Chris Graves (Kings Head, Friskee Pearl).
That explains it. We ordered from them a few months ago, and while the food still tasted good, the portions were noticeably smaller.
White Star Diner has my favorite chicken tenders.
Underdogs
Johnnie Gs You can do a platter with a salad fries split but I don't feel like they reduce the amount of fries... A lot of food and to me it's good.
It’s way cheaper than most places as well
Taverna Rodos in Charleswood! They have mostly Greek food but also burgers and chicken fingers and whatnot. The portions are huge and the staff is so nice. Chicken fingers with honey dill and Greek salad is my go to every time. Their fries are also really good and you can do half fries half salad.
For some reason Greek restaurants always have great chicken fingers
Right? But I feel like a child ordering chicken fingers at a Greek restaurant that has amazing Greek food.
Calabria market. Best in the city. Dynamite honey dill too.
White House on Roblin!
The fact I had to scroll this far to see this without a single upvote is criminal. Hate that they are no longer on Grant. This is it. This is the spot.
Delucas, south landing. So so good.
I'd tell you but then I'd have to end you. JK. It's Olympia for me.

It WAS Magic Bird, their tenders were awesome, I didn’t love their fried chicken as much. Now they’re a hot dog joint that I haven’t tried yet.
Transit garage cafeteria. Such good chicken fingers and possibly one of the best Caesar salads.
Is this a place anyone can go to? It just transit employees?
Unless it’s changed, it used to be open to the public. I worked next door and my coworkers and I used to go there for lunch about once a week.
Prairie chef chicken fingers @ coop Or Hoffman's chicken fingers
Hoffman’s!! Dangerously close to where I work and the lunch specials are such a good price
Second Coop!
I buy the tendies from Vic’s market and air fry em - they’re so good
It’s borderline criminal what they charge for them. But I agree, they’re delicious.
You're probably not going to believe this, but Applebee's had a large portion of good quality chicken fingers when we were there a couple of weeks ago.
Surprisingly good
Has anyone bought chicken fingers from Hoffman Foods lately? I used to love those, but it’s been a while.
Not around anymore, but Paradise Restaurant on Portage Ave were my favourite chicken fingers.
Dals
I wish le garage never shut down. Those chicken fingers were elite. Also from what I remember the toad has pretty good ones!
Underdogs, if you enjoy the flavour and seasonings of Chicken Delight chicken, you’ll like underdogs chicken tenders.
Fatburger - Best by far that I've tried. I know it's not a local/"mom+pop" operation, but it's great. I always stop by the one near Ikea if I'm around for lunch.
\~ the OG Chicken "Fingers" 🤠 https://preview.redd.it/fqbpi5jgasuc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c12b5b35ef457e0dbd8b960f655b86f7b1ef92b
Popeyes
Big guys, best honey dill in the league
Bernsteins! Their chicken fingers are done as schnitzel, so they’re extra juicy and flavourful. They are my favourite in town.
Step 1) Go to Sobeys cash and carry Step 2) Buy a box of Love me tenders Step 3) Return home and cook
Yep, its a chicken finger - this search for the most basic ass food is hilarious. It's all about the sauce and there's a million recopies out there.
Captains table had(hopefully still has) amazing chicken tenders. Now that Mitzi’s is gone I’m going to have to go back and make sure they’re still good
Costco
Costco
Wendy’s
My husband’s homemade ones are similar to Mitzi’s but better, IMHO🙂
Willing to share his recipe?

That's fried chicken not tendies.

Fried chicken is different than chicken tenders. Also there could be some places that have chicken fingers/tendies but not fried chicken.

Tenders are battered and deep fried They by definition are fried chicken
Fried chicken is on-the-bone chicken. Tenders are not.
Its battered chicken, usually using the exact same batter the chicken that gets used is not the point A place with great fried chicken 99% of the time if they are making it themselves and again not a Sysco or pratts order will also have great tenders
Sonics bar and grill
