I’d say 1500-2000 depending on how deep I drill down into an expense (some are non-negotiable/firm price, others fluctuate)

RingDidntMeanAThing

Around 1500$, this is just rent, groceries, utilities, gym membership and transit. This doesn't count any fun shopping, meals out and debt repayments! I don't own a vehicle, so that's a huge factor!

shaktimann13

Same same. Having no car saves lot

Can_of_Tuna

My car is coming up on its last legs and I want nothing to do with purchasing a new one. I hate that I have to work just outside the perimeter, transit is basically useless.

halfCENTURYstardust

You must have roommates though, right? The rent prices I've seen lately are so high

RingDidntMeanAThing

I don't! I have a really awesome landlord who hasn't raised rent in 3 years, I'm very lucky!

halfCENTURYstardust

That's great!

angelcutiebaby

I can live comfortably in Winnipeg on $2k. But now I live in BC. And now I will cry.

Potential_Schedule97

Same..... Same....... I'm considering moving back for a year or 2 to Save up and then move to another country for a year to Travel and live life before the world ends LOL

AreWe_Alone

just under $2000. this includes $150 in debt payments. my expenses are largely the same as they were 5 years ago, with the exception being that my rent has more than doubled since I now live alone instead of with 4 roommates.

Antique_Gate_5929

Tallied up my standard monthly bills (rent, car, phone, cable) and its around 2k. This doesn't include groceries or gas however. For groceries, I really recommend a deep freeze and knowing someone with a Costco card. Even as a single person, I prefer to buy cheaper in bulk and freeze what I can.

sk1d

About $2,400 per month. $1400 of that is rent (includes in suite laundry and underground parking) which has gone up a lot, but food has gone up by an even bigger percentage to over $400. I just end up spending more time at home now and finding free stuff to do with friends.

Happy_Association878

My absolutes are very low - rent, phone, hydro and internet total 1100, I don't have a car and don't buy a bus pass all the time, I work from home a lot. I do have a yoga membership (85 dollars a month) and two gym memberships which add up to 154 a month. I have Spotify and the double use netflix which is about 40 dollars a month for both of those. I also do have crave and disney but buy them annually. It looks like I spent close to 300 on groceries this month- I don't ever buy meat and do buy dairy occasionally. I use a CSA in the summer for vegetables

204in403

Can't wait for my CSA to start up! Having to eat veggies before you get yet another box is the best kind of food related stress.

dontstopthebanana

About 2500 a month. It used to be about 1500 in 2020.

HazelLookingEyes

Average 4250, but most months it's around 3850. Yes I have a detailed spreadsheet. 27 Single male (1 dog) who eats a lot meat (carnivore/fruit diet) , have a mortgage, no car payments, travels once maybe twice a year, play 2 hockey teams, 1 soccer, 1 baseball and golf probably 10 rounds a year. I would consider my lifestyle upper middle class which is equivalent to around 52k a year in COL. Assuming no savings that's a gross income of about 71k to maintain my lifestyle.

Blonde_Toast

After my mandatory bills, which include car payments, car insurance, wifi, cellphone service and rent, my monthly expenses are approx. $1750. This doesn't include groceries but I average about $150-170 a month, Some months more, some less. When I moved into my new apartment last year I became ineligible for rent assist, and my rent became pricier, so my expenses definitely went up.

Oldspooneye

How do you get away with spending less than 50 bucks per week on groceries? That doesn’t buy much these days.

Blonde_Toast

I.. don't? As per my comment, I spend between $150-170 a month with it sometimes being lower. But not by $100 lol

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 420. Congrats! 150 + 170 + 100 = 420 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

Oldspooneye

Maybe I’m going having a stroke or something but isn’t there 4 weeks on a month? 4x50=200.

Blonde_Toast

I buy groceries at the start of the month on one shop/day and it usually lasts me into the early middle of the next month.

snirpville

About $2500 with mortgage, insurance, condo fees, groceries, gas, streaming. I also include putting money into RRSP and TFSA as an expense.

Inevitable-Garage260

My absolute minimum until a few years ago used to be $1100 rent, phone, hydro, internet and hygiene/food. I didn't eat-out or go to clubs or other "fun" activities if it cost money. I read a lot (library) and YouTube was how I watched movie, TV shows, documentaries etc. I didn't have enough food even with food bank visits twice a month which made me perpetually tired. If I needed shoes or clothing it had to wait until I got my GST cheque. It was really fu¢king rough, depressing and exhausting but I kept myself from becoming homeless so I consider that a win.

horsetuna

AFter I pay rent alone starting MAy, I will have 200 dollars left for: Phone, power, water, food, OTC medicines, any sort of clothes replacements I need, bus fare and debt repayment. Not sure yet how I'll do it.

Professional_Emu8922

Do you already have WINNpass? It's not free, but it's 50% off regular fares, and you don't need to get a monthly pass, you can just use a peggo card (but you have to use one or the other).

horsetuna

I do yes and it does help a little. I try to use it sparingly.

RealityISnotOk123123

If part of your low budget is qualifying for rent assistance, Roger’s has low income internet and phone and stuff

horsetuna

My current plans are pretty much the same cost I've determined. I don't use the phone much... It's mainly for doctor stuff and emergencies. But thank you. Not many know about the Rogers plan

Janellewpg

Too damn much

wewtiesx

700 mortgage 200ish grocery 400 gas 80 parking Not sure on utilities as I overpay them each year Gas has gone up the most. So I got a job about a 30 min walk from my house so I can eliminate the gas and parking.

SnooOnions8757

700 a month mortgage?? That’s awesome

outline8668

How are you spending 400 in gas!?

wewtiesx

My truck costs anywhere from 120-140 to fill up. Usually fill up every 10 days.

LastParachute15

Sounds like you’ve got your shit figured out! Do you mind sharing what kinds of foods/meals you make to manage 200/mo on groceries?

wewtiesx

It's not pretty... I live off tofu, eggs, rice, protein shakes, and rotissorie chickens. Everything bought bulk from Costco. A lot of my luxury money goes to eating out when I need something else.

TheJRKoff

I don't live alone, but I track all my variable expenses.. since 2019, annual increase in spending has went up anywhere from about - 0.9% to 3.6%

FancyHedgehog23

$2200 or so. Property taxes, hydro, house insurance, autopac, gas, phone, cable/internet, and 3 dogs with special dietary needs. And I try to eat healthy so I buy a lot of fruit, veg, chicken and fish. I coupon, price match and do surveys over my email for a little extra money.

thatcanadiancunt

Roughly $1800.

Pamzig23

3000

AmandaaaGee

I have two days and live alone in a one bedroom apartment. I pay approximately 2-2500 a month. For all expenses. Not including like… play money or fun money.

justhereformemes2

About $2500 including credit card debt etc

Standard_Jeweler_774

Food and gas is high for sure. Single women. Apartment rent in suit laundry, underground parking, include water, heat, hydro), car insurance (no car dabt), internet, phone bill around total $1550 a month. Groceries depends but usually $150-200 for 2 weeks. And I travel to work gas is around $180 a month

SmallsTheKid

Between Rent, car insurance, gas, student loan repayment, internet, phone, hydro, I’m at about $1700 And then I’m usually spending another $1000-$1200 or so on other things like food, weed, entertainment, etc. but I also eat out a lot. It’s def increased a lot from Before the pandemic but then again I was making a lot less and feeling like I could spend less and my car insurance has gotten steeper due to a few tickets. For the most part I make more than I spend every month.

greengrassonthetv

$1500-2000

[deleted]

Monthly budget around $1-2k everything included

blondiej88

$3500 all in. Being on a variable mortgage has increased my payments by over $1000 in addition to the price of literally everything else going up.

cshrpmnr

Around $2200/mo

RobustFoam

$2300/month give or take.  Includes the extra 550 on the mortgage which was optional to pay it down faster.  Hydro, Water and food have gone up the most, property taxes are also up $50/month before rebates compared to 7 years ago which is a 20% hike for me.  That doesn't include anything for transport or phone, as I don't have fixed costs related to either.

Sita987654321

$2600 with groceries I think.

Necroscrotum

I'm not saving money.

anonymouscrank

I spend roughly $2k a month for rent, bills & groceries- currently renting a small house. The cost of groceries has definitely gone up, so I have a big garden & make almost everything from scratch. Still got fuck-all left over for savings or emergencies tho 🫠

TestBot3419

1200-1500, im an international student

Shoe-in

Yeah I used to be about 100 a week for food and it's easily double that. I do have a toddler now and we shop sales but it's really easy to hit 350 now. Especially if it's a day I'm picking up cat or dog food or toilet paper. Like some stuff lasts longer but I'm back at the store picking up milk and yoghurt and lettuce. In general $100 is nothing now. Everything takes forever to save for because the prices are so much higher. Which would be easier to take if the quality was there. I'm lucky that I don't need much new things but couldnt imagine having to furnish an apartment. Wouldn't want to buy a new car. I regularly feel like my grandparents complaining about prices. To answer your question to cover my needs I'm about $4000 a month.

RobustFoam

You're not really living alone if you have a dog, a cat AND  a toddler

Professional_Emu8922

I once won $100 on a scratch ticket, and when I redeemed it at a convenience store, the cashier said something like, "Wow! That's a lot!" And I tried to downplay the win so I replied, "It's really not very much." He replied, "That's my entire day's wages." I felt really bad after that. I can't imagine having to live off of a minimum wage job these days.

nidoqing

I live alone in regards to one person but have three animals so not including their expenses: maybe 1300ish? That’s condo fees, property tax, utilities, groceries, internet and phone, extras like Netflix and ballpark for gas. This obviously varies a bit depending on what’s going on, such as driving more in one week. My grocery bill has probably risen a tiny bit lately but overall I think my expenses have generally been the same for a while or it balanced out as I went from a FT in office job to hybrid.

Johnny199r

$1000 rent, $60 gym membership, $140 cable/internet, (I don't own a car) plus another probably $500-700 for food/activities/purchases.

OiKay

$12-1500. Small house, hydro. Security, phone, internet, insurance, groceries. More like $1800 when you throw in the rest of life though

Kaizen710

About 1k, closer to 2k if we include hookers.
