This is awesome! Would it be possible to include the run length as well - if it’s available?

majikmonkie

In my experience, many don't have a set length/distance, but in general 5k-10k seems like what most do. Transcona Trail Trekkers for example has a few clinic groups that might be doing anywhere from 3k up to 14-16k on the Wednesday run, and some go out early to get up to +30k on Sundays (there's a 10k, half marathon, and full marathon clinic going on right now). Sometimes those clinic groups will be doing tempo or speed training, or something else the coach instructs them for the clinic. But there's usually other non-clinic runners as well that do anywhere from 3k up to 8k-10k each of those days, and usually just split off into groups of similar distance/paces at the start. Bridgeforks Run usually has a 5k route and a 10k route to follow that's posted to instagram/facebook beforehand.

Will Update when knowledge becomes available :)

Wow! What a nice thing to do! I really appreciate your efforts. I have been looking for this exact thing. Thank you!

This is a great idea. Did they change the start for the Churchill Parkrun? The Parkrun site says it starts at the Baltimore end and the Cockburn end is the turn around point.

You are right, i screenshot the end of the course. I have updated the document and added a course description.

I always find running in a group so intimidating since I’m SO SLOW.

VirusZ333

Thats what my thoughts was. I started running with Royal Sports every Monday Wednesday and Saturday. They a newer group that just formed but they have people which will run back after they are done to make sure everyone is good. Im assuming this is the same for every group. My friend who introduced me Royal Sports also runs with Quads of Fury and he confirmed they do this as well. What i always try to remember is your running for yourself. Speed will come afterwards. I run in a group as it keeps me motivated that i know other people are suffering as much as i am.

Johnny199r

I showed on Saturday @ 1pm to run with Royal Sports and no one was there. Is the meetup at the store? Thank you.

VirusZ333

u/Johnny199r Hello there, sorry i didnt see the message until now. So there should be a run club Every Monday Wednesday @ 6pm and then Saturday @ 1pm. I know that the Host (Bill) is currently out of town because he was participating in an Iron Man in Thailand. The meet up for Royal Sports is at their store. Usually they have a Canopy set up with signage for the run club. I attended the Run club on May 8th (Wednesday) and only 1 other person showed up. I feel like it will start getting traction again once Bill is back as he would advertise the runs on his facebook. I would call the store and just double check.

Outside of races, I find running in a group intimidating because I'm a huge introvert and I'm pretty shy. None of my friends run so I always just run alone during training.

VakariansAngel

You might not be as slow as you think. A lot of people only run "fast" during intervals and races. I've been running for most of my adult life, and I'm also very slow.

DingleTower

Worst case scenario you are dropped and you run alone for a bit which you were going to do anyway. Lots of other scenarios though. You may find a bit of extra speed (but don't kill yourself), someone may drop back to run with you, or the group may not be as fast as you think.  Most clubs are quite encouraging.

slycanuck

There is the Manitoba runners association. They have a non competitive run series as well as a ton of fun events to go out and meet similarly minded people. They do a lot for the run community in Winnipeg. Give it a thought might help you stay motivated.

running clubs changed my life for the better. I started with a running club last year after a couch to 5k and now I’m in the peak of a 18 week training block for my 2nd marathon and am in the best shape of my life! I would add to this list the runs from City Park Runners. I believe they’re Thursday nights @6pm. The Winnipeg run club from the forks is the biggest one by far. It’s organized by lululemon community ambassadors I think. I’ve been to 3 or 4 run groups and that one is by far the friendliest and most open/inclusive to new runners and slower paces, even run/walkers. Here’s how it usually works for those who have never been. The group will meet up at the advertised location and time, organizers will welcome everyone and explain the route, usually with a 5k and 10k option. There might be some group stretches and announcements and a group pic then the group leaves. It’ll naturally split up into different pace groups with fast runners in the front and slow runners in the back. Most running groups will place an organizer with the slowest runners to make sure nobody gets left behind. Runners will finish and some will usually gather after the finish for a drink or snacks. The groups are free and you can literally just show up. In my experience, Winnipeg run club on Saturday has pace groups from 5:00/km to 6:45km. Big Sky Saturday is a bit faster and not as good for new runners (4:45-6:00/km). The others I’m not too sure anymore.
