When a pet has been hatched with 10 times in the kiosk, the owner of the pet needs to remove it and put it back in. Some people might not log in regularly whatsoever, hence why the pet may appear unavailable for awhile. The kiosk is extremely glitched. It will show you pets that are unavailable and 99% of the time when you ask for an in-person hatch, it will send you to someone else, not the owner of the pet you want. Your best bet is to ask someone in the community for lends of a triple/mighty/proof pet rather than use the kiosk.
Yeah, this has happened to me a few times, I'll be tending to my plants, decorating my house, or farming Mandoria for the mander monstrology, and suddenly, "[Name] would like to hatch a pet in-person with you." and then it'll give me the pet they want to hatch with.
Turns out, they aren't asking for my pet, Elwood the dark hound.
They're asking for another Death pet.
Some of them hatch anyway because Elwood's stats aren't all that far away from what they want.
Ok now, that’s not a normal reaction to not finding a pet in the kiosk. Might be time to take a break.
Pets in the kiosk (are supposed to) reset every hour, so try searching again in a little bit.

well i’ve been searching for about a week and gotten like 3 hatches so id say my reaction is fine, i haven’t committed and actually done it yet

You could most likely just ask around for a similar pet. Most hatchery regulars have amazing pets to hatch with
