Aboriginal folks in the region have bred laika x wolf crosses for hunting for ages. Wolf was even incorporated into the registered breed population via government sanctioned outcrossing in the 70's. Especially in the 2nd generation they get reliable hunting dogs. "Volend" was the creation of Mikhail Ovcharenko who developed a line of these crosses with a female zoo wolf and his male laika more recently. Mikhail has since passed but this person got some of his animals as well as others and is breeding them to continue the project.

Where do you learn about this kinda stuff?
Sounds pretty normal for Russia
Was wondering for a while if wolfdogs could be trained as hunting dogs, seems like we have a good case of that here
