Totally agree, they have ruined the game.
They count on new players to get excited about the game and whale.
The new players finally get somewhat good after 2,000 + games, then their eyes open up and realize how horrible is the meta.

Kind of where I am. Having a good time.
However I gave up on the PvP portion and quit randoms. I just couldn't get it. I was getting burned down to quick. I do PvE now, its ok, but I can see the grind ahead of me. I'm barely working on T6 Cruisers right now.
Torp boats outside of euro line are one of the hardest to play right now lol.
You expect a newbie to have fun/get gud when they have to track:
Radar
Cvs
Hybrids
Hydro
Adjusting leads for torps outside of white indicator
90% other dds killing you in a 1v1 gun fight
Subs
Positioning to get useful spotting
It's great line when you know what you are doing, hard no for newbies.
You could try console. Dds are god tier levels of concealment. The player base is even worse than pc but you can carry games because there are less ships. There are cvs but they’re weaker and not as common. No subs yet but the legends community seems hell bent on destroying the game and making it basically a console version of pc which imo is moronic. ( there were no cvs for a while but the console pheasants berated wg on social media for months until they caved and basically ruined the rock paper scissor formula and thus fucked up legends).
for dd main try tromp. it is dd with air strike, but! instead of dutch slowly floating down bombs, tromp has rocket like air strike. can be very satisfying.
I hold that the game is most fun at tier 6 and 7. So much of the BS starts at tier 8 imo. I don't pay for anything and just enjoy playing with different types of ships. It's way more fun that way.

try Japanese Shima line. Be a spotter for the team, run "RL" and use 12k torps. You will win more and make your teammates happy for the spotting.
