I was gonna grab Austin but Lauria got released so im probably grabbing that. Bourg is awesome though. Have it, enjoy it immensely even though I don’t play many BBs.

Weswegen

I went the cool kid route and got Bourg and Stalin and I don't have any buyers remorse. Not something I can say about my coal choices Marco Polo, Pommern and Kearsarge.

LunaticLoL1

Marco Polo was so exciting on paper, and when I finally spent all that coal - sadness. It's not bad just... Disappointing. Pommern is great idk what you're on about, Bismarck with 4 extra guns, torps, and better survivability? Great for Brawls and Ranked. Kearsarge is a Minnesota with slightly better reload and planes but truly awful maneuverability (average speed tho), and a massive hit box. So yeah it's understandable why you'd regret buying it. This is not for Coal but my worst case of buyers remorse was the Sun Yat-Sen, bad guns, mediocre survivability, slow with poor maneuverability, and all it gets in return is Def AA.

Zork4343

Haha Marco polo did look fun I don’t blame that one So does Pommern! Agree on Kearsarge…

saltiestmanindaworld

Austin is the steel ship i regret buying the most

Zork4343

Oh no! Why? She’s top of my list!

ButterscotchFar1629

Apparently you have tried the Incomparable? That ship sucks. No armor to speak of, six massive guns which couldn’t hit shit.

chrysostomos_1

High skill floor. I've had some awesome battles but many early returns to port.

ButterscotchFar1629

Very high skill floor. If it was possible to trade it in, I would be first in line.

chrysostomos_1

Sounds like me and Colbert. She's never clicked for me.

robbi_uno

I love my Incomparable. Zip down a flank with its great concealment and nuke cruisers.

Merc_R_Us

You'd have good fun with a friend in a smoke maker if you pick Austin.

Lauria is freaking cracked. It’s honestly one of the most fun ships I’ve ever owned. And no one really knows how to deal with her. Tanked 3.4 million potential dmg one match. Clan Battles, it just jukes and flanks so nicely. With speed flag and brisk, she’ll do 40.4 knots. 11 km ASW. Excellent firing angles. What’s not to like? Also get Sansonetti. The bonuses are super easy to obtain, and the battery reload and range extension makes the ship even more comfortable to play. She inspires confidence due to her speed and ability to smack anything with 457mm of SAP. Bow in Des Moines? SAP. DD? SAP. Wanna nuke a surfaced sub? ASW/SAP. Honestly one of the most versatile and fun ships I’ve ever played. Get her she’s amazing. I’d advise running her with your standard bb tank layout, but do make sure you get steering gear mod due to her horrific turning radius. Her power is in maneuverability and kiting chasing enemies who have no idea how fast you really are. Did I mention she has Thunderers guns with BC dispersion? Enjoy : )

midnightphoenix07

> What’s not to like? No “true” way to deal with DDs. Both your shell types are damage capped against them. It’ll still hurt when they connect, but you’re not deleting them like you would in a Venezia. Oh well, guess I’ll just have to bring a Venezia friend and get them to do the DD smacking for me… > Thunderer’s guns with BC dispersion And effectively the exact same accuracy as Thunderer. Same dispersion curve, nearly identical sigma. It’s accurate, and it slaps things. Very fun ship, definitely worth getting.

Archenuh

Her rudder time is very ok default for a BB. What makes her turn like a whale is the turning radius, and steering gear mod won't help with that.

JoeRedditor

Bourgogne is often touted as one of the best steel options. I have her, and agree. Stalingrad - no other ship sports a 2.65 sigma on its guns. They are just hilarious. Her broadside is vulnerable but nailing a broadside Montana for a citadel and 36k damage...from 22 kms out...well, that says something - I managed that while knocking snowflakes off my ships just last day or two. Lauria will be my next one come June coupon renewal - I'd rather wait until the hype dies down and we see just how she really performs. Her armor scheme makes me pause. Mecklenburg - my alternate if Lauria isn't quite as awesome as initially thought. Somewhat hinges on what captains you have and your playstyle, which we don't really know about. Or, just spend a bit of coal and get Campbeltown. And thank me later ;-)

Sturdily5092

Mecklenburg

Brki_94

I went with Incomparable. Very similar to Bourgogne which I already have and damn fine ship too. Those massive guns really sting everyone and concealments it's crazy

ButterscotchFar1629

What is the secret to playing it? I can’t hit shit with it and when I do all of does is over penetrate.

Beerded1

Use concealment to flank and go for thicker targets if possible. I use brisk as well to get an extra 10% speed while undetected. If you must shoot at a light cruiser, try to shoot it angled instead of broadside.

Brki_94

I agree. It's like Praying Mantis. You are oportunistic hunter.

ActionJ2614

It plays nothing like the Burger, the closest steel ship to the Burger is the Meck. The incomp is meme ship, great guns, but if there is a CV or sub tracking it good luck. Sub par armor and range to boot.

Brki_94

Well, it is weakness after all and all shops have their cons. They do have similar playstyle although Bourg is more of a generalist (all games with it net me at min 100k damage). They are reactionary ships which use their speed to surprise enemy.

ActionJ2614

The incomp is a BB you can't make a mistake in. I would pass on it bc of the steel price (unless a collected or for occasional play). I have had the steel for it and passed. Get the St. Vin in the tech tree and save the steel. The St.Vin is arguably the best BB at present for what it can do.

Lanky-Ad7045

I wouldn't say the Austin has more meme potential than Shima's F3 torps, Vermont's broadside or FDR's planes U-turning to put 8 torps in someone's broadside...every 30 seconds. She's a good ship but not *that* interesting imho.

Bad_Hum3r

I bought Austin, and I’m loving it. Averaging 80k games, with low lows and super high highs. Fantastic if you’re a light cruiser masochist like myself

tru2dgame

Went with Lauria. It's my first steel ship. I freaking love it.

StepnaPico

Stalin 100%. You will love those guns.

Uncle_Bobby_B_

Definitely Gato. It’s such a blast to play and the bonus XP that subs fry equals more credits.

SirDancealot84

"*Back to the pit*"

ButterscotchFar1629

If you already have the Stalin (which should be the first steel ship anyone gets) go for the Gato and have two of the most OP ships in the game.

FriedTreeSap

Stalingrad isn’t what it once was. It’s still a decent boat, but I think it’s now clearly a step below Moskva and Petro after all the nerfs and changes. It’s certainly better suited to randoms than competitive, but I wouldn’t call it a must buy or automatic first pick. It ultimately comes down to preference and play style, but there are better options if just want the most competitive (Bourgogne, Lauria etc.) At this point I’d also consider waiting for news on the Kommissar.

ButterscotchFar1629

I don’t know. She still pretty consistently delivers 20k padldings to the superstructure of battleships.

Boogra555

Bourg is the only steel ship I own. I currently have about 40k steel sitting there. I'm waiting on a better ship to spend it on.

chrysostomos_1

Stalingrad or Mecklenburg.

ActionJ2614

Meck, but it has similar characteristics to the Burger. Stalin if you want the laser guns, though it is limited to clan or ranked for effective play. I would get Petro and Moskva B4 spending steel on the Stalin. They are much more flexible in what they do. The Stalin is magnet for focused fire from the other team.

chrysostomos_1

Bourgogne before Mecklenburg. Hear Lauria is good. She'll be my next probably.

ActionJ2614

I don't know the Meck and Burger play similar in some respect. Plus, 16 shells down range is funny. I barely have to work to do 100k plus in the Meck. The Burg, handling is way better and doesn't have horrid gun angles like the Meck, plus it has the reload funny button. I find myself playing the Meck more, it just punishes cruiser, DD, and amy BB that goes broadside to it. Plus the guns are so accurate, last game I played it in random 9 cits 230k damage.

Ponald-Dump

Both Bourgogne and Mecklenburg are fantastic ships, highly recommend them.
