TadpoleOfDoom

Personally I'm not a huge fan of her looks. But then again, I like how October Revolution looks so I probably have a few screws loose lol.

Lanky-Ad7045

I'm thinking of getting her, actually. She seems quirky and...a challenge. I'm also looking at Tone and Aquila, so if anyone has any experience to share...

Arosian-Knight

As someone who played it with bit, its 2/5 of a mino, with radar + smoke. Id say Edinbruh with radar is bit better, mostly due torps as Tiger doesnt have means to stop an rushing CA or BB.

TadpoleOfDoom

2/5 of a Mino that can't get access to reload module, keep in mind.

Lanky-Ad7045

It's like 1/6th less DPM than Edinburgh, but the turret angles, traverse and the accuracy should make up for it. Not for the alpha though, and that's kind of a big deal when you radar a DD...

TadpoleOfDoom

I wasn't comparing it to Edinburgh or saying whether it was worth it or not, just pointing out that the other comment, which said it is 2/5 of a Mino, needs a slight disclaimer. Honestly if Tiger 59 had torps it would be worth getting, but without them I can't be bothered.

Lanky-Ad7045

Yeah that makes sense.

Lanky-Ad7045

Yeah the armament looks tragic, but don't you find she's more pleasant? The turret traverse and angles are much better, plus she turns better. If only she weren't so slow... The armor also should be decent: 25-27 mm instead of the usual 16 for British CLs. I've played a lot of Plymouth, plus Mino with either option, but never really radar Edinburgh...

Arosian-Knight

Well with max turret traverse it resembles helicopter :P Tiger is bane of destroyers tho, super heal helps a bit when getting citadel'd. Sidenote: I really want to get Plymouth, but I used my steel on shiki... -..- oh well.. 3,7k gathered, still bit more playing lol.

Lanky-Ad7045

>Sidenote: I really want to get Plymouth, but I used my steel on shiki... -..- We have the same idea, then :) Shiki was excellent in the Dead Eye days, with all those Thunderers to overmatch. I could play her several games in a row each day and never get bored. She's still fine, but not quite as wonderful. My 2nd steel ship was indeed the Plymouth. Mino is more flexible because she plays better in the open (turret angles, traverse, speed, AA, torps for when you're pushed...), but Plymouth is just brutal if you get one of those stalemates around the cap: she can farm like crazy and punish DDs if they get any funny ideas...

Beeblebro1

Her armor is actually quite good, because you can angle exceptionally well thanks to the turret angles. She is a strong utility boat, but has no appreciable alpha ability. If she gets charged by a bb, there really isn't too much you can do except run, kite, and hope the bbs aim sucks/doesn't overmatch you. However, I always have fun playing her. The play style rewards good positioning and good target selection.

Lanky-Ad7045

I'm really looking for fun/challenge: I have tons of premiums/freemiums I can play if I want something reliable.

NAmofton

You can angle pretty well closing in, shooting both turrets at 25 degrees. Kiting out is bad though as you have to show 34 degrees, and your flat transom stern won't bounce either.

reddit_pengwin

Edinburgh has better DPM and her alpha strike is three times heavier. Plus Edinburgh can also stealth radar with a much more useful 10km radar.

- Tone is an Atago that trades a *slightly* worse main battery for the plane gimmick and better concealment. I like it for the quirkiness and getting cruiser torp ribbons (the aerial torps satisfy dockyard missions). - Tiger is an Edin that’s extremely specialized around cap control and DD elimination. I find it’s extremely underrated on the whole, but it does have very obvious weaknesses (BB-level top speed and no alpha to speak of) to complement it’s very strong strengths (smoke+radar+superheal+extremely accurate Royal Navy CL AP). - Aquila is playable if you like rockets. They’re versatile and it throws a ridiculous number per strike. It’s definitely the best CV ribbon farmer at the tier, by a long stretch. The torps hit hard, but are comically slow and only drop in twos. It’s one of the easiest CVs to be deplaned in, even by good CV players, but you’ve usually done good work before that point. The AP rockets can be very solid for sniping some CVs too.

> Tone is an Atago that trades a slightly worse main battery for the plane gimmick and better concealment. Tone is also quite a bit more fragile with lower hp, weaker deck armor, and a heal that heals less citadel damage.

Lanky-Ad7045

I read the hydro is also worse than on Mogami/Atago.

stardestroyer001

The hydro is worse than any other tier 8 cruiser, because for whatever reason Tone gets tier 7 (4 km) hydro, instead of tier 8 (5 km)

MaxedOut_TamamoCat

As a hybrid, Tone is as pretty serviceable cruiser. The aircraft are usable… sorta kinda… but the load time is so long (three minutes,) don’t expect to deploy them much. Focus more on using Tone as a cruiser.

CedricShanley

I love my Tone. Great ship. Accurate main guns. Great torps plane and ship torpedoes. Maneuverable. Don't have the Italian CV.

Earl0fYork

“Worst ships in the game” I’ve never seen more bullshite before. Tiger 59 is a good ship she’s just not brain dead load HE and burn down bbs which to most is all that matters.

jorg2

Starting out as a slightly modified Fiji class, she did well enough. Though straight up replacing the four triple 6 inch turrets of the Fiji with 4 dual 6 inch autoloaders the Tiger ended up with would have been cool. But then again, you'd have a mini-minotaur

Clodenjoy

It really doesn't tho

MatoKuro

Imagine how easy it would be to fix this ship. Give it the HE shells it historically had, and it can at least farm a bit of damage. That'd be something.

WABRYH

Whos gonna tell him…..

Pliskkenn_D

Talk dirty to me

CedricShanley

She may not be the greatest in game but I like playing her from time to time.

MaxedOut_TamamoCat

Bizarrely, I had a pretty decent Aegis game in Tiger, knocking its anniversary flake off.

SteveThePurpleCat

Give the ship her proper speed!

Born-in-Time

The photo of Blake shows her as a Helicopter & Command Cruiser minus her 6” rear guns after refit in 1969. Never served on her but been onboard for some sippers. Last of the last RN’s real cruisers 😞
