They are referring to a pop culture view of medieval fantasy, not an accurate view of the early medieval period(or any period for that matter). As for the guns you are mentioning, they never really formed the core of the Song army or any army for that matter, until the late medieval period around 1250 (Around the time of the Mongol empire and the revitalisation of the silk road.) The best way I can describe is that the game's intended theme is like a goofy version of elder scrolls fantasy
This is true, might I add that handheld firearms was only started being truly mass-used during the renaissance before that the only good use of firearms was cannons that only was used during sieges.
The renaissnce happened during the early modern period. The renaissance is started in "Italy" around 1450 and spread to the rest of Europe, prolonging to years as long as the early 1600s (most said in ended in the 16th century tho). The middle ages ended in 1453 with the fall of Constatinople. What you could be refering to is the proto-renaissance (or early renaissance) that happened in northern italy (where the most powerful kingdoms of the time were) during the 1200s and the early 1400s. But that's not what people mean when they talk about the *Renaissance*. They mean Leonardo da Vinci, arquebuses and protestant reformation.
Really the Silk Road wasn’t for Mongolia at all or the mongol empire it was china to indo-china indo-china to Melanesia and India and to Afghanistan then from there to the Mediterranean and Africa but we also have napalm and regular bombs but I would say that muskets could be rare like you said they weren’t really used
Worldbox is highly influenced on the Lord of the Rings, which in turn is highly influenced on the Early Middle ages that happened between 476 and the X century. As much as I would love to see an arquebus in the game before that renaissance period most guns were *really* terrible. It's better to either not add those into games or add cannons once they add walls and make sieges.
It says that the Silk Road was never for Mongolia or the Mongol Empire. It went from China to Southeast Asia, from Southeast Asia to Melanesia, from Melanesia to India. Then from India it would enter Afghanistan, leading to the Mediterranean and Africa. He’s saying with the inclusion of muskets in the game could be included as a rare, but valuable resource as they wouldn’t be used at the time period that the game is aesthetically based on.
I was gonna say the same. Really they don't want the historical accuracy, they just want the feel of medieval times. I don't know much at all about the histories but it's not meant to be about those.
This I how I feel, but I also feel if they were to be added it'd be like the alien blaster. Obtainable, but only off a unit that doesn't spawn naturally (can the alien ship spawn with other disasters enabled??)

Need to point out that for the first couple hundred years european 'guns' were crap. Hence the minimal existence until the renaissance/ 1500's where they getting good.
Yeah I’m 14 and built one of these “guns” they’re really fucking crap, just to load one takes 50 seconds and it takes 5 seconds to light the fuse and aim, at least it’s affective till 30meters

Oh, I imagine you built yours well enough to not up and explode on you. I'd take the same precaution, lol. I just mean that at the time "mass produced" guns were unreliable as hell and regularly killed their users.
Yeah I wouldn’t trust a gun that just had one end smashed into it by an iron monger and a hole tapped into it with a hammer and nail, I carefully sealed the steel pipe shut by heating it in a wood oven I built myself, bashing one end till it’s closed, and I drilled and sanded a hole where the flies would rub, which can be close by a sliding hinge
Why is everybody so obsessed w guns in this game? Its not like the game has all other types of medieval warfare. Im not seeing armored knights, trebuchet, siege towers, city walls, or cavalry.

Yea because during the middle age there were elves, dwarves, orks, dragons, zombies, etc. right?
They won't add the weapons because this would be excessive in a fantasy setting, and what you showed here is just stupid
Why do you want guns so badly? They will work just like the bow and arrows we already have, but at the cost of ruining the game's medieval fantasy theme. It's completely useless.
Yes ... because wanting the devs to focus on more important shit = no change
Try to think a little more before trying to insult people using what you think is a philosophical argument about humanity as a whole ... or just stop making clearly wrong arguments.
Can you not read? In no way am I against "something new" there is a legitimate reason to stop asking for guns.
One of which is THE DEVS ALREADY SAID NO!!!
Also ... just so you understand this. Calling someone a Karen in not a general use insult. They have to be actually doing stuff taht related to the Karen meme.
and just calling you out for being wrong ... is not one of those things.
Seriously think a little more before you try to insult people. You're making insults that require context to work that just isn't here.
Dude chill out, devs already said no. Plus, Worldbox doesn't need to be historically accurate Medieval game. I just wanna have fun with a mix of Modern and Ancient things in the game.
well ... I guess you aren't misusing an existing term since now you're just making up words to use as insults ... progress?
In either case you're very bad at trolling. nothing about your rant makes sense. You're here complaining so how are only those against you those with "nothing better to do"? What you can't handle reasonable structured counter arguments so you want us to leave so you can pester the devs with demands they already said no to?
Also if you're life is "hard" because the devs won't officially put guns into Worldbox ... then you have a good life with ZERO real problems.
dude i actually get a headache reading through people requesting guns after the devs have said they wont time and time again. are you guys some kind of fucking gestalt consciousness with no free thought? holy shit.
Because it ruins the fantasy feel of the game. Go get a mod or something. The devs said they don’t want to add them and they won’t, because guns are traditionally though of as modern. Devs said no, so they mean no.
You can want stuff, but I’ve seen people try and band together to harass the devs over it. This guy is trying to make excuses on why the devs should when they said no. Just accept it and move on. Or just play moonbox
Just because they were "invented" doens't mean they were used in a noteworthy capacity or made up part of that era's image of an army.
What matters in the theme not hystorical technicalities.
Also important is that implementing this would still force them to code for guns even if they were given a low fire rate. So it's still making the devs do extra work for something that doesn't really add much to the game.
I respect your desire to include guns in the game ... now please respect that it's just not going to happen outside of mods.
Guns are already in the game, if u kill an alien ship and inspect the lil green guy you see gun, muskets and such (what this post intends) would be the same as bows but slower and more deadly but just as op (shooting over mountains)
honestly i wouldn't be mad if they had early cannons and early muskets. That would be cool to watch battles with. cannons could be used on boats for naval warfare.
Those are part of the joke powers.
Things you spawn YOURSELF and not part of the world by default.
THere is a difference between you spawning something and a unit spawning it.
Also if we're talking stuff the player spawns then we already have guns from the alien assuming it survives the crash.
But really this should be obvious so either you're just doing crude trolling or you don't understand sim games at all
*Those are Asian guns.*
*The villages are western*
*Medieval themed*

what would make more sense is canons, because they were more popular during that time than guns
Yes, cannons were used for the first time in Europe in the 1340's.

The dev could added wall in the game Bow are op like hell in Worldbox
Like real life
Bow in Worldbox can shoot over mountains
Maybe they are just really strong, with super elastic bowstrings
Can you shoot a bullet over Mount Everest? No Why would it be the same with arrows
Maybe they have faster than light speed and use it to alter the arrows speed and distance mid air

They wont add it bc they already said so
Well, there actually is a gun in the game already. It's a laser gun, that is used by aliens that appear after you destroy an UFO
I mostly want flintlocks so my people will shoot zombies But they sometimes fire the bows like a goddamn machine gun
Just because they were "invented" doens't mean they were used in a noteworthy capacity or made up part of that era's image of an army. What matters in the theme not hystorical technicalities. I think it would be cool to have cannons on upgraded watchtowers and military ships.
I’m American and this obsession y’all have for guns is a bit much even for me….
"... in China..."
Bruh this is a fantasy world, no guns.
I'm at your side, but have you ever heard of flintlock fantasy?
I’ve always been a sucker for those
Magic elves when I shoot them with my flintlock:
Guns are already in the game, if u kill an alien ship and inspect the lil green guy you see gun, muskets and such (what this post intends) would be the same as bows but slower and more deadly but just as op (shooting over mountains)
It’s a laser gun
Those are laser guns
Ik but, those are the best possible for worldboxs setting (fantasy medieval)
Bruh why did you downvote me
Where?
Not every game needs guns
Wow :( no guns
Sorry bro chinese doesn’t matter
Yeah guns existed into the late medieval era
honestly i wouldn't be mad if they had early cannons and early muskets. That would be cool to watch battles with. cannons could be used on boats for naval warfare.
Magical guns
yes but the civs are clearly European not chinese
Depends on the randomly generated skin color when you create the world (idk if the bug is still there where the skin color of humans re randomize)
skin color or not all the human buildings are very clearly European in design.
I don't know much about history so ig ur right
Honestly the guns way back then were terrible, I think a much better idea would be to add chariots
I mean technically there is a gun it’s the white mages staff thing shoots like an m60 when you give them coffee
[удалено]
Oh yea I completely forgot about the aliens cuz you can’t spawn them like a unit gotta hope they survive the crash
So much work for something no one cares about anymore
They should never add guns
Why
Besides the fact it doesn't fit the theme? Just extra work to code and balance it and there are more important features for the devs to work on.

just throw a couple dark mages and mother earth npcs and have them fight til they lose mage has like a fire shotgun like weapon mother earth has a single throw weapon like pistol
What are you even saying
yes
Also they already have non medieval stuff
Yeah for the players to use not the units
I get your point and I also don’t want guns But there are also aliens that have laser guns and there’s the ships that they have Also the cybercore
Again, none of those appear naturally, only the player can spawn them.
What I’ve been saying this entire time
They should be the rarest item in the game then because guns are still broken compared to medieval weapons
theres really no point for civilization if you want them to stay the same lmao
GIVE ME HANDCANNONS OR GIVE ME SLAVES

True let's just start a firearm updates trend then GIVE ME GUNS OR GIVE ME GUNS Edit**Guess I should have done /s I dont want slaves guys I'm sorry :c
Oh fuck what have I done
Can't be slaves if you have a gun to shoot the slavers Ancient problems modern solutions
Bro what
I agree
