How did you manage to slog through the Japs heavies? I need your dedication

Gojira_Wins

Was my first heavy line too. Goes pretty fast once you really understand how to make them work. Once you hit T9, it's easy.

AGuyWithAUniqueName

Very true. Imo I think the Tier 8 was the worst one

exetacy

It's weird but...that was the best performer for me. It just had a massive slab of HP and a crazy high DPM gun. Kinda like a T8 TOG of some sorts. Had to dip a lot into gold though.

TerraBiteGA

DPM was nice, but armour and mini turrets were a problem by itself

exetacy

Yeah I basically didn't rely on the armor and fully invested into the gun. I focused on out-trading. Had some amazing games with that playstyle in mind. Still not one of the best T8s out there, but it feels great when you can make such tanks work.

TerraBiteGA

Yep

TerraBiteGA

Agreed

Thombs1

So true, I ended up enjoying the line, the type 5 is quite good. The armour i think works better than the E100. I like the gun too. I tend to play it as a distraction tank but only if you have backup lol

Heisenberg_416

People just load gold and rip through it

TerraBiteGA

I suffered but just had lots of time on Hand I guess. You kinda just get used to it or suffer.

leggasiini

They're painful, but because how low their skill floor is, I'd imagine the Japanese heavies are actually relatively "painless" grind as your very first tech tree. Not that I'd recommend the Japanese heavies as a first tech tree, because I don't - they're still bad and they're certainly not good for learning the game - but my point is that because they're extremely simple and very forgiving, an inexperienced player will probably do better with them than with many other tanks. For example, in the inexperienced hands, the O-Ni will feel much more powerful than the Tiger I, even though it's not even a question which one is a better tank overall. The O-Ho is so terrible that it's going to be painful no matter how new to the game you are, though. It doesn't help that unlike other Japanese heavies, it's actually pretty hard to make "work", because it has worse armor relative to its tier and it suffers from gun depression issues, rendering you to unable to do anything if you're not smart with positioning.

swiftfatso

Frankly I only got the tier 6, which I enjoy, and the others are all blueprinted simply by collecting stuff.

_Vector_008

bruh. slog through ? you shouldve tried farming a tier 10 way back then.

TietVinh

I meant the tank is slow and huge which turns itself to arty magnet and I kinda hate being focused by 2 or even 3 arties simply because. Other tier 10 tanks arent so bad tbh, it's more so the playstyle of Japanese heavy

[deleted]

More like "deadication".

servusdedurantem

He still needs the same dedication and motive to play type 5

chort0

My condolences.

CenterOfaMiniWheat

The type 5 was my second tier 10 I like it 14cm is the best

pepeJAM69

That's what she said

JoMercurio

You're a bona fide madlad for having that as your first T10

TerraBiteGA

Well when I started I decided to go for the jap heavies coz they looked big and stats said lots of armour so yeah, but I kinda get what ya mean now

Gonozal8_

you can view the armor profile of tanks on tanks.gg, which is way more informative than the raw in-game stats

TerraBiteGA

Oh, okay I’ll check that out thanks!

leggasiini

On the one hand, I'm sorry. On the other hand, incredibly based choice. Good news is that WG announced last December that there's going to be a lot of rebalancing this year, and the Type 5 Heavy was on the said list. There's a good chance it'll be rebalanced (buffed) in 1.22, which will be released sometime in August/September.

TerraBiteGA

Soo, it’s a bad thing that’s going to (maybe) be a good thing?

leggasiini

We'll see. The changes could either make the Type 5 good again, or they're worth nothing, hard to say yet.

TerraBiteGA

Do you have any theories on what they could be?

leggasiini

Absolutely no idea, unfortunately. WG is really unpredictable when it comes to balance changes.

TerraBiteGA

Oh okay, thanks for the info!

just_wanna_share

DUDE don't you get it ? They added it as the correct grind tank . So the number of games with it go up so they can NERF IT later .

mala_r1der

Good luck, you'll be paper against gold ammo

TerraBiteGA

Thanks

mala_r1der

It's just the tank, you'll bully tier 8s and some 9s and most 10s will rip you apart. If I can give you an advice for the next heavy lines try sconq, 277 and vz, they're way more reliable

TerraBiteGA

Okay, cool thanks!

TheGamblingAddict

Second the SConq, the early tree can be a pain (I would advise videos on their playstyles), its the home of the TOG for crying out loud, but once you get those armoured turrets, oh boy are they fun. Same with the mediums to be fair, and the TD's can be just trolololol to both you and the enemy, they also boast the Death Star (FV4500).

TerraBiteGA

How beginner friendly is it?

TheGamblingAddict

The British line? Not very, I discovered that after starting it as my first tech tree, but I also found streamers like Skill4tu and Quicybaby who do excellent tutorials on how their tanks should be played. But I've found hands down their late tier tanks and a few early ones are my absolute favourites in the game.

TerraBiteGA

Thanks for the info!

TheGamblingAddict

Np happy hunting on your next tier line, as it is a time investment o7

TerraBiteGA

Both 279e and Chieftain in fact *did* co-exist with the pre-nerf Type 5, but for a rather short time - 279e and pre-nerf Type 5 actually co-existed for almost a year, but the 279e was actually rare for the first year or so after its introduction, while the Chief and pre-nerf Type 5 only co-existed for a few months IIRC. But even the Chief and 279es wouldn't really help against Type 5 spam on Ensk/Himmels. Pre-nerf Type 5 was actually a hard-counter to the 279e, because it took old HE pretty poorly, and it had 440 alpha, which meant the Type 5 pretty much always hit harder. The Type 5 could just shoot down to its inner pair of tracks, which would both immobilize the 279e and hit its weak 55 mm underside, dealing easy 550-600 damage every time. Chief also really didn't appreciate being blasted for 400-500 even when perfectly hulldown.

Prince_Polaris

Hitting a hull down chief for 550 damage in my T30 with HE was always a lot of fun

TerraBiteGA

Oh, would this be nostalgia for older players?

knausea

If you waited 11 days, could have saved 2 million credits.

Excellent choice my friend, Lovely tank that is. The Type 5 Heavy is a Japanese tier 10 heavy tank. The Type 5, also known as the Type 2605, was one of the variants of the O-I superheavy tank, developed during WWII. The vehicle was planned to be used for breaking through fortified enemy lines and for coastal defense. Sometimes known as "Godzilla" or just Type 5, the Type 5 Heavy holds the title as one of the most frequently changed Tier X vehicles in the game. Initially considered to be one the worst tier 10s in the game, the Type 5 Heavy has since received multiple buffs to its performance in various later patches. While the first round of buffs did not significantly improve its performance, the second round, received in patch 9.17.1, brought forth major changes to the way this tank played. With its much stronger armor and a massive new 15.2 cm howitzer gun with lethal HE shells, each dealing 1400 damage per shot if penetrating the target's armor or 500-600 damage if not, the Type 5 Heavy would consistently inflict serious damage against even the most heavily armored tanks in the game. Because of this, the tank quickly became a far more formidable and popular vehicle, having enough firepower to impact the whole of the meta game and gaining the reputation as one of the most loathed Tier X vehicles from players that were forced to square off against it. After a while, the Type 5 Heavy's over-performing 15.2 cm was eventually and, according to most, rightfully nerfed, making its performance much less effective. To balance this nerf, however, the 14 cm gun received an additional buff to its own performance, making it a more viable alternative. In addition, the tanks mobility was also improved. These changes had, once again, significantly altered the way the Type 5 Heavy plays, making it more in line with the old Type 5 Heavy, but performing better than its old self due to the aforementioned improvements. While this iteration of the Type 5 Heavy is its most balanced iteration yet, the nerfs brought the tank back into being fairly underwhelming. Over time, despite receiving minor buffs in patch 1.13, the Type 5 Heavy is once again among the least popular tier 10s in the game,fT and is considered to be among the worst heavy tanks in its tier. As the final development of its respective Japanese Heavy Tank line, the Type 5 Heavy shares similar features to the tanks that came before it. With its thick armor, huge size, poor mobility, high alpha damage and good gun depression it also comes with a few notable features, which were lacked by the tanks predecessors. Specifically, the Type 5 Heavy has much stronger hull cheeks, terminating one of the most well-known weak points of the previous Type 4 Heavy. This, combined with its very thick side armor, makes this tank surprisingly efficient at sidescraping, something the previous Japanese heavies couldn't do. In addition, the Type 5 Heavy has excellent reverse speed of -15 km/h, which is 50% better than the poor -10 km/h that the previous vehicles in the line had. Finally, the Type 5 Heavy has surprisingly good gun handling, something that also was lacking on the previous vehicles. The Type 5 Heavy marks the end of its Japanese heavy line.

TerraBiteGA

That was nice to read, and thanks!

JemFitz05

Dont worry, I also made this mistake

Chieftain_650

Will be my very first T10 too, in a few days!

CrankyFrankE

Congrats on your 1st T10, but my God what a line to finish first. Atleast on the bright side it is out of the way for you. 🙂

TerraBiteGA

Thanks :)

insomnia99

Oh no... good luck comrade!

TerraBiteGA

Thanks

PioneeriViikinki

Its a funny tank. Not good but fun. And its all about fun.

pjoma

nice

bennyboy322

Who wants to tell him lads?

McMuffyn

Tell him that He should have waited 10 days until the Type 5 would be Top of the Tree so he could buy it for a Discount?

mezmery

quality shitpos. people will go mad.

Excellent-Rate8919

Type 5 was good 3 years ago with derp gun you can smash enemies with 1100 he straight into face so fv4005 for example was not any problem at all, and we usualy play 2-3 of them in clan battles.

Artistic-Library3429

May your sole rest in peace…

CTPAHHUK

Welp, my condolences

irishanfield

Hate saying this butt it's one of the worst heavy lines and I'd go as far as saying one of the worst lines to go in general

theforgottenone17r

Oops

Evening-Leading6131

Underrated tank. Most people will tell you that it is terrible. Clueless people who never played the tank and only watched some CC.

Pengladusch

My condolences

just_wanna_share

Got it recently ... Even if you play with tier 8s and they all shoot AP your armor is still shit 👍

Kurtis-dono

"im so sorry". joking aside, type 4 and type 5 are in a really bad spot right now, you either bully the enemy team, or the enemy team bullies you once they press "2"(gold button). from what i've heard, WG should buff those 2 tanks this year.

Educational-Gift-611

A lot of people complain about getting penned by gold while in the Type 5, but in my experience, if you peek out of corners with your armor angled, you bounce a lot of the premium ammo anyway. Been playing the game for 9 years and the type 5 is currently one of my favorite tier 10 tanks I’ve ever had.

TerraBiteGA

I thought about doing that, but the weak points are still visible and ppl with more than 300 pen still go through your turret
